Does anyone know if The Dead will be streaming their show from Rothbury on 7-4-09 to watch for those of us that are unable to make it to Michigan?
Anyone...Anyone......Bueller...Bueller....No response! Fillmore Midwest I have been wondering the same thing. Hmmmmm? I'll bet yes if I had to Guess!
The Dead with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Wow!
iClips streamed all of 2008 so maybe will do again?
The link for the broadcast doesn't list The Dead.

What a wonderful red, white and blue show!
looks really nice, wish i had been there! hope everyone had a nice fourth!
amazing set from an amazing band. KEEP THIS VIBE ALIVE!!!!!
peace and love always
myles
Phil also sat in with Jackie Green on New Speedway Boogie and Like A Ball And Chain (last 2 songs of his set)
Phil looked really happy on stage with Jackie. I wonder if the PnF line up will have Jackie in it? I think Larry has left the bus over a silly money issue....
what a set!! what a band!!
Twitter is to setlits as downloading is to trading tapes..
Things will never be the same
What? no Billie Jean?...
WOW what a great setlist!!
I think Larry has left the bus over a silly money issue....
WTF does that mean?
Happy 4th on the 5th.
I was told that he was invited to play in SF with Phil but was expected to pay his own way..he didn;t think that was right and they have parted ways
No more Larry in P$F.......what a terrible shame.
One down and 2 to go.
nothing on the etree yet?
>Phil looked really happy on stage with Jackie.<
Phil's gonna sit in w/ Jackie at a few shows on the Ratdog tour. would be perfect.... just no Sugarees....
Mule kept the Sugaree tradition alive at Rothbury after MHB and P&F both did it last year.
Never cared much for Larry anyways...Now lets bring in a guitarist who has a good voice! Bring back Barraco too!
I was at this show and I have to say that it was terrible. The china>rider was really really weak and the morning dew was possibly the worst version I have ever heard. The help>slip>frank was not OK but over all the show was pretty bad.
String cheese completely stole the show that friday night.
See everyone at next years Rothbury (maybe)
I was at the show too. I thought it was great. Sure there were mistakes, but try performing in front of thousands and keeping it new and fresh. It is the mistakes that keep it fresh and unpredictable. The Dead - without there probably would be no cheese or festivals of this magnitude.
Really: Rothbury was a growing epic of legends performing. A hall of fame from Dave Mathews to String Cheese - The Dead- Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
Keep it coming next year.
I WAS AT ROTHBURY AND THE DEAD WERE GREAT!!!!! THE SHOW WAS HOT INCLUDING, THAT BOTH MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE BROUGHT TO TEARS BY THE AMAZING INTO THE MYSTIC. KEEP IT UP BOYS AND FOR THE NAYSAYERS I HOPE NEXT TOUR YOU STAY AWAY SO GOOD SEATS ARE EASIER TO GET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Larry did not play with PnF in SF because he had already committed to play with his father in law, Levon Helm on the same night. Nothing to do wth the money. Larry is a grea musician and a true gentleman!
Rothbury kicked ass...a sloppy (at times) show but a rocker indeed! What a great night!!! One for the ages!!!
OK, I ain't Bucky, but I went to Rothbury, so here goes a review...
We had a terrific time. Zipdog was right in that the china>rider was weak. Bobby messed up after the esecond verse of china cat and the band never recovered. They actually ended up pausing china cat and then started up rider without the big climax that that pair is known for. I thought the dew was just ok. Personally I am not a fan of phil singing eyes but oh well.
That being said, the Loose lucy was a lot of fun...a tiny bit slower but funky. The FOTD phil sang well and the whole crowd swelled. the Help was good as it always is, but the magic was the slipknot reentry to franklins....frickin genius goosebumps jawdropping end to slipknot. The franklins was good, as usual, but it is a simple song and mainly a crowd pleaser.
Drumz was absolutely great. A big image of Saturn on the screen the whole time and radio sounds of space(we thought that was actually the sounds of saturn knowing what mickey is doing lately). Space was ok for me, but my friends loved it....I dunno, this seems to me to be warren's weakest link. Not sure if I am just spoiled by Jerry-bob space or what with that. After Space they just jumped right into the Viola first verse without the big bomb intro....at first I missed that bomb, but by the end of the song we were jumping up and down.
I am not a big fan of throwin stones, but this was the best one I have ever heard post jerry, and better than several I heard GD do. SUPER-funky almost reggae type jam before the -shooting powers back and forth. Check it out, it is absolutely superb.
Encore was good...us blues was distracting with the fireworks, and the NFA was as usual, but not a big standout.
All in all, the crowd was around me was terrific and really showed the love. As for the 'dead show' factor I had a great time. Yes there was some sloppiness in a few parts, but there was also some transcendant parts that blew my mind. (typical for a dead show to be a bit sloppy and a bit amazing.....)
I would go back in a heartbeat!
peace,
Chris
a stop between cat and rider ? bobbys fuckin done bring back phil and friends. leavon is not larrys father in law.
Thanks for the reviews
One or two Bobby fuckups does not mean he us done. If that were true, the dead would have been over in the late 60's. I measure Dead shows by how good the good parts were and how many there were. Again, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Leavon?
Bobby needs to stop singin Jerry tunes...He has enough of a problem remembering his own songs let alone the added load of Jerry songs...Plus he sounds like William Shatner havin a stroke and singing at the same time.
good link for pictures??
QUOTE: "Plus he sounds like William Shatner havin a stroke and singing at the same time."
FDLMAO!!! (fell down laughing my ass off)
funny stuff. that said, someone has to sing Jerry songs...OR...we won't get to hear them anymore!!
can't wait for the soundboards!!!!
lovin the vibes and the band...TSB
Ever hear of a guy named Warren?
This was the best show I've seen.
