Can anyone tell me if they were allowing cameras, specifically dslr's, into the show?

I'm very disappointed to hear of the "reception" the NYPD gave fans last night. Last time I went to BB (formerly Nokia) to see Phil/Friends it was very cool. It was also a Sunday night, so that might have made a difference. Anyway, be careful. As I said in another post, Times Sq. is only a couple notches down in terms of family friendly from Disneyland, and the touristas come first. Know your rights!

saw a few undercovers dressed in plained clothes walking around outside pre-show.

You've been warned!

Someone told me last night that Phil's mom passed away yesterday, no idea if that is true but that could have spurned the We Love You into Unbroken Chain

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By jerrygarcia'sfingur (Jerrygarciasfingur) on Friday, March 11, 2011 - 02:35 pm: Edit Post

Tom, according to Phil's autobiography, Searching for the Sound, Phil's parents eloped to Reno in 1929 when she was 22. Now if Phil's Mom lived to be 103/104, God bless her, and that means Phil could be around for much longer. Given that information though I question the accuracy of your source.
I'd like to think they played We Love You because they knew il porco was going to be playing hard ball, which was the impetus for this song as the Stones had just been busted prior to it being written and was a message to their fans who had stuck by them.

Back to the question of bringing in a camera. Any problems?

Is there a shakedown for pre-show shopping?

I saw cameras in the venue last night, but I don't know their policy.

I was at the show-amazing-as a criminal defense and civil rights attorney I was disgusted at the excessive searches which caused the long line to get in and at the stories of bad busts I was hearing all night - if you got mistreated or busted, contact me - and we can fight this, if enough people contact, a stronger case, amymarion@optonline.net.

You know, if I was a t-shirt vendor, I would think I could come up with a very cool picture of an octopus just slaying some wicked drum set with Mr. Russo's head on top.

The man has more appendages than a mortal....great interview by Blair Jackson on dead.net right now on the beast behind the kit.

Have a grate show all....

She's trying to pimp her business on a message board, trying to make people more riled up over something that really, isn't a big deal unless there was horrible mistreating, which extends farther than what people on here have said about the trouble last night.
Just saying, is all.
Don't think it's funny that people had a hard time, but, at the same time... It's surprising to see someone willing to sue over something that wasn't anything more than a venue stopping people from smoking...

I'll be at the show tonight.
:-)

See ya there!

Tyler, stick to commenting on something you know about whatever that might be. She's just trying to help. If you were in the shoes of these people who were cuffed and taken to jail you'd be glad for some help. The NYPD is over the top and hauling people away for nothing. The same thing happened to a friend of mine at an ABB show last year.

He ultimately beat the charge as it was a bad arrest. Unfortunately most people don't get good advice and then end up with a record.

Amy is a friend of mine and a quick google search will allow you to see she solid track record as an attorney. But she's also a fan and has been going to shows longer than your dad, but maybe not as long as your granddad. And I'll guarantee you she knows more about the music/band than you do. Not that it really matters.

Excuse me, not a big deal? Apparently you are not a Wisconsin union member, a black man, or any one of the myriad if folks who have their civil rights abused kind of often. Why does it have to be more horrible, and what is horrible enough?...when it happens to you?

Me, personally, I ain't got no time to hate. Check in after the show. Say something nice to the undercover people. See if you don't end up listening to a stream at a local precinct.

And as a new member of the community, may I say to Amy, I apologize that we have not taken care of making our community safe from harassment. I hope you enjoyed the show and feel that the music was enough to bring you back.

Me, I've been going to shows since 1974, but this is I believe my third post here. Does that make me a newbie?

I see Tyler, that you use Terrapin in your name around here...maybe it's time you took your head out of your shell and look around and see the world for what it is.

Peace ya'all ...just trying to mellow a brother out. We will survive.

OOPS. With my apologies to Tyler. Please, someone give him a towel. The Dude is 16 years old and is still wet behind the ears.
Talk to me in a couple years when you have seen a bit of the world kiddo.

Don't be so quick to doubt someones cred just because they're user profiles says they're a "newbie". I've been using this board for 8 years, and had to change my name today because I lost password and e mail I used to sign up with is no longer active. If Tyler is indeed 16 years old, dude you're a newbie at life in general. This makes 30 years on the bus for me this year, and I'm tired of seeing a crowd (Us) that get hassled because we're deemed easy targets. This is not about smoking inside a venue, this is about being on the street and having cops come up and think you're guilty just because you're on line, therefore you're suspicious. I don't call that just or probable cause, even if you have a tie dye, dreads/long hair, or long tie dyed hair.

I'm stuck at home. Two days worth of food poisoning, had to hand my ticket off to a friend. A stream tonight would be a beautiful treat, if anyone can provide. Much love.

one more comment now that im fired up a little tonight. im not looking to sue but wouldnt mind a few tickets to a show after dealing with that. this was also the first show i had to go through the stub hub outlet in nyc for and paid 125 a tix

And a funny there was one cool narc who did actually put on the dead while i was in the 6th precinct. he also told me that his boss told them to go and grab everyone this year while at previous phil a thons there wasnt the narcs on force.
His words to me "your in nyc bro its all political"

I heard they were pulling people off the floor and handing them over to the cops outside on Friday night. Anyone witness this?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By GreggD (Albanygregg) on Monday, March 14, 2011 - 04:32 pm: Edit Post

I did see people pulled off the floor. Some came back and some didn't.

As usual, they were way over venue capacity at this show. Between the oversized crowd and intense security, this show was not as much fun as it could have been. I wish they had either gone to the Wellmont in NJ or the Rev Ike's place on 175th St.

The music was great especially the Mr. Fantasy/Hey Jude and the Like a Rolling Stone. Black Throated Wind is always a favorite of mine.

Seen 30 GD shows, 2 Other Ones, 12 Phil and Friend,4 Furthur, and 2 JGB what does this mean. After everything that is going on and the changes that have been made in this country, quite frankly if you need pot or shrooms or what ever even cigarettes to enjoy a show then stay home, you are an idiot to take the chance these days. Be cool people enjoy the shit at home where it is still safe. Everywhere you go figure you are on camera, really be smart keep shit at home or at the least in your car. Take nothing in a show anymore sounds harsh after so many years who needs the risk of hassle. No I am not a Wharf Rat but they are smart
