Welcome to all my sisters and brothers in FURTHUR. As the 'most local resident' on this board I welcome all of you to the city of love for an amazing 5 show run at the venerable Tower Theatre. It is an amazing place with so much history - fantastic sight lines and fabulous sound! You can see and hear perfectly from every seat in the house. So just be cool and enjoy. Be sure to check out The Waterford Inn, across the back alley from the stage door of The Tower Theatre - have a cold one, a bite to eat, and play Jerry on the jukebox. See ya dancin'' in the streets of Upper Darby, PA! Adam
You bro. How easy is it to catch a cab after the show? Need to get to like 17th and Market after a couple nights and up to the Crowne Plaza near Bala Cynood after a couple of the other nights.
You could just take public transportation( the EL) to get to 17th and Market but Taxi's shouldn't be too much of a hassle. You could even call a local cab company and set up pick up times for each night. You'll be fine.
Take the el. All they are askin for is 2 gold dollars, and you can get off at 15th and walk 2 blocks to 17th.
Personally, I will buy a 10 pack of tokens for $15 and ride that train for the 5 nights.
Shakedown Street takes on a whole new meaning in Upper Darby, so be careful out there kiddies.
Anybody remember Nickie Hopkins riding a broom on stage at the JGB show on 10/31/75 at this venue?
Or the Dead in '76?
Didn't see the 6-24-76 tower show but listen often. thanks for the reminder.
Where does "Shakedown" usually assemble ?? I tend to park in the garage.
Check out
http://www.septa.org/service/mfl/
for info. on transportation.
The underground stops running at midnight. You can still catch a 'surface' bus back into center city though. Cabs will be plentiful on 69th street when the show lets out. Anyone have an extra for saturday? Thanks!

Let's send out warm vibes to our friend and local Tower Theatre maven, Adam Dean. We won't see him in the hall this particular Saturday night... but you know Saturday Nights: there's always "One More". So we KNOW we'll see him in the future. But for now... he'll be there in spirit. And I for one, owe him for sharing his 'center loge' good fortune with me and I will be among the ecstatic dancers shakin' that balcony.
Hang in there Adam! Catch you at the next show.
Thanks, Mike. We lost Mom tonight, all things must pass. She is in a better place now. I hope to catch up to the bus on Sunday night. See you in the Loge. Adam

Yeah Troy. I am a product of 80's dead, when everyone knew He's gone belonged in the 2nd set. I was still too young in the 70's.
He's gone belongs is set two..but I damn sure do like the looks of this first set.
i can forgive them this evening.

Me too. Actually I started in 91, so you have one up on me. Just bustin your chops.
I remember the 91 Giants 1st set Eyes. That was when the 2nd set songs needed to be in the 2nd set to be played worth a damn due to formula they were stuck in.
Times is changed. These guys can pull it off. I dig how they aren't afraid to bust out in teh first set what was for so long 2nd set songs.
But yeah , He's Gone into D/S was what a lot of us are accustomed to.
You would wear that shirt? HA!..............Just kidding....... You forget he,s gone was played in the first set when it they first started playing it.
that looks like a great first set.................

Not Fade Away
Kamloops, I didn't forget. I've listened to those shows. I also like the way the mix songs around. I'm just saying it works better with some songs than others. I loved the eyes in the first set they did in December at the Garden, for example. As for the shirt, I tent to like shirts geared toward a specific run of shows with some local flavor, a la the liberty bell. But this one has too much similarity to Phillies shirts for my taste, being a Yankee fan.
I also liked the fire on the mountain in the first set at cal expo in either 90 or 91 and the aiko in philly summer of 89. stuff like that worked.
Eddie - thanks for the quick setlist postings. Tonight's selection so far is really making me wish I was there.
Yeah, thanks Eddie. That is a good first set. Philly always gets the goods. Wish there was a stream.
yep, end of set- perhaps obvious.
I wonder how much it would cost and how much they would make if they had a stream of every show for like $7.50 a pop.
Thanks for the updates, Eddie.
stream me please
Sure seems like Eddie has one.....................not meaning to offend anyone, or his he there
Thats where Not Fade Away should be placed...shouldnt end a show with it
I'm at the Tower through Sunday.

thanks for keeping us in the loop !!
my best to you and yours Adam.
This is your thread.
Totally rocked! Holy cr@p!
Sets up an interesting situation for tonight. I mean you won't get too much space cuz they did a stephen, dew, star, other one, death, rosemary, hmmmmm, kind of sets us up for a real type of rocker show. Stuff like Sittin, Doin that Rag. I don't know but I pick Here comes Sunshine opener and Touch of Grey closer. Everything in between is a mystery!!! That's what makes it so grate!!
. . . . . . . and not a single comment about the We Bid You Goodnight . . . . . . was I the only one completely moved by last night's version . . . a really fitting end to a very special evening . . . . . .
that was a killer WBYGN!!! both these tower shows have been sweet. A swell dance concert!!!!!!!!!!!!
IRS - I was an emotional wreck
...
ya'll should of been with "THE GRATEFUL RED" as the fan base for Wisconsin is known as! cant mess with wisconsin, just too much heart ;).. love ya'll. see ya this summer. and yea @ eddy.. love the vocal harmonizing on wheel..////if the thunder dont getcha then the lightning will!
yeah, these look like some pretty sweet shows. the boys are definitely bringing it. what do y'all think of the 'We Love You'? I saw it on NYE and thought it was great. And Rosemary, how cool!!!
I hear what you're saying about He's Gone in the first set, but I like how they're mixing it up a bit. Speaking of Wisconsin, at the 'reunion' shows at Alpine in 2002, I believe the first night kicked off with a He's Gone instrumental...obviously with different meaning, but I can't think of anything more appropriate or classy for that day. Sometimes it's good in the first set.
Philly definitely gets good shows. Unbroken Chain breakout back in the day, are you kidding me?!?!?!?!
Sorry the Blazers smoked you guys last night, though! Then again, you were at the show while I was only checking updates!
So no words yet on the Big RR Blues did they rage on it?
We Love You was great...really good version sandwhiched in with Dark Star...playing right now on GD Radio.
Big Railroad got everyone moving after a great looks like rain.
First set was great. Althea was epic. NFA to end first set was classic. Lights stayed off for quite a while while the crowd sang. Don't remember ever hearing NFA end the first set.
Second set after Dark Star was as good as anything I've heard - ever. Amazing improvisational music. Set list may not look as good as the night before, but don't be fooled - they brought it big time.
That unbroken was at the end of a six song first set. It was a real treat to hear but they didn't do it justice.so good to hear Phil give it the treatment it deserves. That Philly version was maybe six min? Heard Phil stretch it to over 20
I caught the Friday and Saturday night shows, and I can only say that this band is beyond description. Every tune was played with incredible depth, desire, and soul! More than I can ever expect. It just proves that this is something special, and I am proud, fortunate, and ever grateful to be a part of this family. Thank you Phil, thank you Bobby, thank you Robert, and thank you Jerry, wherever you are, keep smilin down on us cause we hear you!!!!
Not to bump this back... after watching this 11 minute Althea video I'm surprised there aren't more reviews...
has to be the best this band has played... wow.
P.S amazing footage here.
