Grateful Dean...that's got a nice sound to it, but alas no, I'm Adam Dean, but in a pinch I make a great grilled salmon terriyaki and one helluva bloody mary!

> Tower will be selling day of show tickets tonight for $40. Yay!
Really? Incredible - it's like the old days - way to screw the scalpers
Unfortunately $70 was face! Day of show tix are nice.
I don't hear people complaining about $4 pretzels that the Tower spends a quarter for (at most) or $11 beers. I sat upstairs Saturday in the lower balcony and on the floor the other 2 nights. I think the floor, anywhere in front of the balcony, is a better experience, but that's is only one guys opinion.
Have a good time folks, I know I will. Alligator?
Halfway up the balcony the first night was better than under the balcony on the floor the next two nights.

Thanks, Lyn. Meeting an old college friend with whom we did MSG 2009 @ The Gahhhhden - funny story - he wanders away from our rear floor riser seats early on and I don't see him for an hour - sudden tap on the shoulder early 2nd set - security guard asks me "do you know this guy?" - he had wormed his way basically to the front row and was dancing his way on to the stage when they collared him - must have been the roses!! I will have to keep him on a leash Friday! LOL
Shine on me!
ha...funny story...and now you know the "fan lady" ( menopause sucks)LOL !...say hi next time, and i want a hug !!!
Hey adam at least he was straight enough to tell the security guard where to take him. Lucky. I got Lost in the Gaahden at the concert for the Rain Forest way back and..... I was really Owsley that night and I ended up being the designated driver to Jersey!! What a night!!!
If anything ever happens to me, I want to be an organ donor.
Box of Rain
hey cumber~lyn, you go in from New Haven?, I do as well and will be there too on Sunday for RCMH as I live in Madison, grew up in Guilford. Yourself?
Ah, the Rainforest Concert - Hall & Oates, Suzanne Vega, Hamza Al Din - Jerry had lost his voice but what a night!! BTW John K sounding more and more like Jerry every night eh?
So Ed I will call you in the AM; peace and out brothers and sisters from the city that loves you back
So you were there?! Great show. Loved Hamza- he died you know?? TOO bad. Can you believe Hall and Oates and The Dead!!!

Encore = Box of Rain
Nice jam before last verse.
Talk to you in the morning Adam. I might be out for a run. Just leave yer numba.
Just got back to the room. That one for Gitmo was heartfelt.
Thats so great he gave a shout out to gitmo.
Anyone know exactly what he said?
Phil mentioned Bear and Gitmo at the beginning of the 2nd set. About the losses. And then that set...definite theme.
best ive seen yet
driving out of tower and into downtown philly, big black suv pulls up next to me at a light and in passenger seat is phlesh! ear phones in. never looked my way at 3 consecutive red light stops. riding solo (e.g. driver, no jill) he had one hell of a night tonight!
Another great show from the boyz!! Ya'll bring your a game every time
this show was a lot of fun, many songs played well with some interesting jams, conversely some sloppy transitions and a couple minor half assed lyrics....cassidy opener was not my expectation. it seemed a little slower with more exploratory work from JK than normal. bertha was up and fun, not very loud bombs from phil like i was hoping but good version. high on a mountain came out, a mediocre version, nothing spectacular. me and my uncle started ok, bob even allowing himself another set of measures to group up for the lyrics and then he botched it-it picked up good momentum by the end and gave us the first mama tried of the tour, i enjoyed..it must have been the roses was a highlight for me, a knockout version, JK ever so sweet and delicate..first ashes and glass of the tour, was pretty good--lost some crowd energy but had me moving..foolish heart was incredible..many people thought the one from wallingford was great (despite its many flaws) so this one is going to knock your socks right off folks...everything about it was great!!
the second set opens up with the first iko iko played by furthur, and it did not disappoint. everybody in the theater was bopping around to this one--weir was a little low in vocal volume but JK was yellin and lickin his chops--i was also digging what jeff and sunshine were doing with backup vocals, added a neat little sway..estimated prophet was mind bending, no territory left unexplored..the jam that ensued after this sounded very other one-esque but sounded off key or out of time, maybe both. it found its way to a fantas>jude reprise..neat for this early in the second set...revolution to follow was good, better than some of the other versions they've done..another viola for the tour but as always well jammed...the sandwich included comes a time and death dont have no mercy, both done beautifully, especially the former..lovelight to close was fun and energetic...box of rain encore was my call and we got it..great end to a fun night, cant wait for tomorrow!!
nice review wlewis thanks .
Upper Darby
3/22/11
sry late review. first set was not that much of a crowd pleaser but high energy, Phil was racing. Set Two was spectacular, solid 7.5 out of 10 (not as fun as Friday set two which I give a 9). 2nd most fun of the Tower run, cant wait for the coup de gracie.
Richard what is happening? I am only going Sunday night and then Bingo on Tuesday and then that is it for me.
I wasn't there but it looks like a great setlist (including the 1st set, which some disagree about).
I'm jealous that you all got to hear one of my favorites - COMES A TIME. Hopefully they pull this one out for RamblinJoe @ Radio City...
2 questions for zoners
1) newbie to tower, parked on street and had concerns on parking meter stuff. where is best parking?
2) sympathys to the gitman's. been in scene for years, have not heard of him. who was he?
Ted wish I was going Sunday too but got to get back to Boston with the family. I did hear something through the grapevine though. Supposed to be a special guest on Sunday. Can't say who just yet but you'll be pleased!! Hmmmm by the way they should be coming up with your tune soon as well. Only played one so far I believe. Were you at Phils B-day show? Catch up later.
Can't believe that Phil gave Gitmo that call out, stupendous. Would have traded a UJB and Cosmic Charlie (for Gitmo) for the Fantasy and Revolution but other then that a great show. I thought the High on a Mountain (right up the road from where Ola Belle lived) was outstanding, but the Roses and Foolish Heart were the standouts of the first set. Comes a Time was just beautiful and perfectly placed, this band continues to amaze and deliver the goods.
Mark, if you approach the Tower traveling on West Chester Pike, about three blocks before 69th St., there is a parking lot on the right. I almost always park there. Parking is $5.00. There is a parking garage behind the Tower that works well too. I think it's ten bucks.
unreal energy in the 2nd set, dam that was a huge show, really well played and emotional.....Phil let loose on this mini bass solo after DDHNM, then the were playing thick jazz, amazing improv and gear changes without loosing the groove, Russo was sweating and playing hard.....and mr. Weir was on, if hes slow the musics slow, not last night.....great work with JK, but it was all about Phil,,,so out front and jazzy, he really pushed it, and perfect mix too....... this band is on fire..glad im going back tonight.....

John has made it so that Jerry's Ballads are some of the highlights of a show again! It Must have been the Roses, Comes A Time, and Death Dont.. were all played with the warm tenderness that jerry brought to the table, truly something special- I have never heard a philly crowd as quiet as the Tower was during Comes a Time. Foolish Heart to end the first set was truly something special, the whole show was wonderfully played, It doesn't get any better :P
