Seated in 2nd row. Willy and Cougar opening.
Willy's friggin bus was park right next to the stage and was making god awful noise throughout the entire set. Besides that, Willy was having a blast and the set was pretty entertaining..
Cougar and Indiana homos. The man still gives it his all. Pink Houses opener.
Dylan played his guitar the first 2 songs and then put it away. On keys the rest of the night.
His guitar player stayed back the entire night and it was almost like he did'nt or was forbidden from stepping up. Bob looked great but for my show $$ I want to see some lead.
Fun night. Would I go again? No way.
Dylan hasn't played guitar onstage for more than a few songs since 2003.
I was there last night, too.
Loved Willie's schtick, thought Mellencamp was absolutely great, and I'm wondering if I'll ever see Dylan again. His voice is absolutely shot now - his band carries him - hate to say it. We packed it up as he was starting Highway 61, as we were getting soaked - heavy rain.
>Dylan hasn't played guitar onstage for more than a few songs since 2003.<
He was actually playing some lead electric for the first couple of songs. Sounded pretty good.
Thought that venue absolutely sucked as well.
bethel was very nice tonight! dylan's voice was great and he sure wasn't being carried by his band...
I agree about Bethel.
I was there.
Sound was great.
Dylan's voice was as good as I've heard it in a long time.
I was really quite surprised how full it sounded.
Talked to some others after the show who noticed that also.
I also don't agree with people who think this band he has doesn't rock. The usual complaints I hear are that the guitarists don't take enough leads. I guess it doesn't occur to people that this is intentional, and not in the sense of being forbidden, but in the sense of creating a very specific type of ensemble sound.
By this time it should be evident that Dylan is going for a type of sound in his bands over the years, and sounds to me like he's got it locked in.
Also thought his keyboard work was a treat. It was nice of course to hear his take on guitar the first couple of songs.
& Willie may not have as much energy as he used to have, but his voice is still incredibly beautiful in my opinion.
hey NC...how about that forgetful heart!!!!
^^
It was great.
And also I think it was a little later in the set than usual so I wasn't sure if he was going to do it and was glad when he did.

I'm going to see this show without Mellencamp next month, but as much as I like & respect Willie, I'd rather hear an extra 30 - 45 minutes of Dylan than yet another rendition of Whiskey River.
I'm looking forward to seeing Bob, it's been a while, and thanks for the reviews, they're getting me psyched to check him out with this band.
gonna get to see bob on 7/30. i'll be working as a volunteer in a concession booth through willie and john, so i'll sit on the lawn and smell like a hamburger.
