LET IT BEGIN!

I heard Phil is going to string up one of the Rockette's legs and play that as his bass for the night...
Does anyone have an idea (from the last Radio City run) as to what time they will likely go on?
Says doors at 6, show at 7....
Thanks

*****************
It's a good thing I checked my tixs..couldn't believe the shows are called for 7 pm. Why so early in NYC? Maybe 3 sets? Nokia shows were all 8 pm starts--came on about 15-25 minutes late.
I figure on Friday and Saturday nite, that could stretch to 7:30 starts. Figure Sunday show will start closer to on time
Sam L.
maybe Radio City has a different policy for when they have to finish.
Hey now NYC zoners - please suggest a good bar or restaurant in the area for pre-game. And for anyone who wants to meet up I will be in 1st Mezzanine lobby - we are sitting 1stMezz300.
Adam - grab a burger at JG Mellon's if you get a chance. Its around 60th street and 2nd Ave.
Actually, its 74th and 3rd Ave.
Actually it's also pretty far away. If you want close the Heartland Brewery is on 51st Street just off of 6th Ave. It might be crowded but good food and they brew their own beer
I can't remember where the overhang of the mezzanine starts at radio city. I have two options for Friday night, Orchestra 4 Row G which I think is dead center right in front of the soundboard or I can sit in the first mezzanine 6 row B which Is two sections left of center, my buddy is giving me the option of which tix I want. Anyone suggestions on what would be better at the Hall?
new poster for the RCMH shows. Looks like the turtles represent the workers building the GW Bridge!
The mezzanine overhangs the orchestra at row k. I sat in row g in front of the soundboard last go round and loved those seats. You can find a detailed seating chart PDF here on the Radio City site:
http://www.radiocity.com/media/global/radio_seating.pdf
Thanks for the info and pdf Eyes. By the way we are due for an Eyes. Tough call on the seats but I think I'm going to go with the belly of the beast board seats, might not have the best view but will have great sound. now all i need is one extra for saturday. have fun
Acoustic first set????
Once upon a time there was an engineer...
Ramblin Joe and Adam - J.G. Melon's is at 75th and Second Avenue. Its my neighborhood. But Joe is right -- great burgers!
Dennis McCoobery - Yes, great burgers for sure.
Tom Cassidy - You're right, it's definintely not in the Radio City neighborhood but I mentioned it because most of the places near Radio City are way too commericalized for my taste. The non-franchise places have more history and character.
They actually filmed some scenes from the movie "Kramer VS Kramer" in JG Melon's. The place probably hasn't changed since then.
Geez, I'm getting way too much into burgers when this is all about FURTHUR @ RADIO CITY!
Try this:

Right around the corner.
Does anyone have 2 extras for tonight?
Jimmy's Corner...It's an unbelievable bar with inexpensive drinks and a great story. Looking for a Wharf Rat tonight.
Hey now folks - check out for pre-show fun:
Langan's Bar & RestaurantLangan's Bar & Restaurant
150 West 47th Street (bet 6th & 7th)
New York, NY 10036-1516
(212) 869-5482
Good place for brews & grub.
And if you come, you get to buy me a beer!!
Whats better than that~~~~
That poster is awesome!
That poster is actually taken from a picture that was taken during construction of The Empire State Building. And yes, it is awesome!
Think Jeff will play any songs on Radio City's house organs? Ya know, the ones on each side of the stage behind the small curtains...
Hey Gtrips - I'll look for you for that beer. You'll be the guy in a tie dye, right?
Marc - correct!!! I am the short guy with the tye-dyed jacket. Probably the one with the wild-glarring eyes and drooooolling heavily. Be there @ 17:30~
Lots of cool possibilities for tonight. I am looking for a Stranger, Eyes, Playin', Wharf Rat and Other One in there somewhere. Have fun everyone.
I hear that Joe Yed, mellon's is great. PJ Clarkes on 55th and 3rd is also a great burger place and a little closer. Also as someone else mentioned Langan's on 47th, Pig n Whistle on 47th. channel 4 irish pub on 48th. I don't even know where i'm going now. I used to work right there. Connellys and Perfect Pint on 45th between 6th and timeshitsquare both have good food as well. i think I'm heading down to the area and going to any of those places that aren't too crowded. Heartland, Langans, and Pig n Whistle would probably be my first three choices
Does anyone think Warren will make a Sunday appearance?
The comment about the Furthur RCMH poster refers to GWB workers. It wasn't the bridge under construction in the famous B&W photos but the Empire State Building.
Here's the original:

Those guys were crazy.
What about when Philippe Petit walked on a tightrope from one twin tower to the other? That was nuts.

Just like Philly, a Kansas connection again. KU hoops playing now and they play Jack Straw (from Wichita) and Loser(town of Abilene). Could Jill be a college hoops fan?
interesting observation David, can you fill me in on the 'Just like Philly'
what time did the first set start?
i thought it was abilene, tx
A) last Saturday Kansas State was playing hoops in Tucson and they played jack straw which mentions Wichita and the border line (tho technically they are referring to the Kansas-Oklahoma border line not US-Mexico) and Jac(ob) Pullen became the schools leading scored. Also sang Music never Stopped which references farm life.
B) you are correct, the song means Abilene Texas but there is an Abilene in Kansas, so what the hey?!
whats the vibe tonight all?
would be like the uppermost of the toppermost!
All, please realize I know I am stretching the truth into illusion into reality into smiling on a cloudy day.

SPANISH JAM!? list looks absolutely beautiful.
can someone confirm if the band dropped into a whole-hearted Spanish Jam? as opposed to just a tease...
SPANISH JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
friend says tease.... though I was all about it.

Just got back. Not a tease at all. Full blown Spanish Jam. Really hot 2nd set. Bird Song on was just on fire, but the Hard to Handle > Smokestack/Spoonfull wasn't too shabby. Obviously hearing Bobby break into Train In Vain was a mindfuck and a half, but to follow it up with the Might As Well breakout (continuing the train theme) was pretty fucking outstanding. Can't wait to see what other tricks they have up their sleeves. Oh, and one day, just to fuck with everyone's head, they are going to start NFA and kick it into a 20 minute Who Do You Love > Mona > Who Do You Love...

hey phil, i know you don't take requests, but maybe you could think about singing Get Together again? I loved the one I saw you sing us in St. Louis at the Fox(11-9-01), and I think Furthur would do it justice...

Full Spanish Jam like in the 80's.
Gunfer... shootin' people... Loosers...
wow...!
hope they have that gas left for florida..
Wow!
How was security, both inside and out?
You could do whatever on the third mezz security was nonexistent. What a rocking party the lights were knockout.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S9PlWCWZK0&feature =mfu_in_order&list=UL
just found this!
"How was security?"
they didnt throw out all of the a-holes who insist on talking loudly with their friends throughout the whole show so I thought it was kind of lacking
it was not as tight as Best Buy as a non smoker I dont mind the smell of the kind but I am super happy that the cigarette smoke is way down
The show killed
a few observations
Jack Straw- nice power chords by phil and bob in the jam
the jam into on the road again was very sweet
Train in Vain- loose fun had a great garage band kind of feel
Might as well was schmokin!
2nd set
Bird song -> otherone good god that was nice
full on spanish jams and JK threw some very dirty sounding effects in there at the end
Eyes- Dayum! that Chimenti guy can tickle the keys, his jams were stellar
Dear Prudence- fun loose garage band sound again
then they bought it home hard
all in all a very fun show in a great venue
../459920/638 055.jpg
Awesome pic Dylan!!!
Fonzi....nice video, thanks.
Last night was pretty intense...I saw hard to handle smokestack spoonful in Wallingford so was not too excited about that selection but it was up in rotation next.
Phenomenal king solomons and phenomenal eyes. The entire second set was hot. The security was present in the first set but by end of first set and middle of second there was little or no supervision from security. You do need to be somewhat cool in puffing.
The venue was great, no lines anywhere for bathrooms, and reasonable beer Lines. The 3rd mezz was great, mellow and the sound is great as it's the closest point to the speakers in the building except the first 40 rows in orchestra . I'd like to see less children at shows honestly. Just doesn't seem right for a 3 year old to be up at midnight at a show. but those hippie children were dam cute! I will say that.
Be cool on the streets in ny around the venue. If your a putts and not careful you'll. Get popped.
Tonight is the 24th anniversarry of my first dead show from 3.26.87. I'm calling for the help slip franklins.
Cheers, b
TIV...

Thank you for the love boys and hugs and kisses to our beautiful techno friend
Last night was one big dance party, from start to end. I'd like to take that ride again. That will be Sunday for me; enjoy tonight. As I understand it there should be some surprises in store both nights (not sure if that means break-outs, guests, or both, but be on your toes and ready for anything).
Bobby sang with out true love i won't make it through.........which according to the Clash's jam its just love.....tears to my eyes.....jeeze....what a beautiful jam they pulled out....woo...
Chimenti's solo in eyes...wow
Here is the link to that one. John is taking the first solo now which I prefer although that one last week in CT was..WOW

zomg lolerz LOVE LOVE LOVE it
never trust a prankster
alrighty--wanted to get this done last night right after the show but got sidetracked...
called the jack straw opener, was pretty damn good--this band is finally starting to understand the way this song should be played on a consistent basis. mississippi half step to follow was fun--it seemed like JK never got the point he was trying to get to during the end but solid version. i thought dark hollow sounded a little rough, bob struggling to find the right feel..stagger lee is a tune i truly dig but i do not think furthur does a great job with it--it always sounds forced, like the band is not 100% comfortable with playing it...on the road again is a fun song but these guys had a TOUGH time finding the groove for it...there was tons of clashing between instruments as different memebers were trying to find their way in at different times..i wanted to hear loser so i was happy they dropped it--good contributions from JK...train in vain was a complete curveball, had the place moving though--bobby that rock star. MIGHT AS WELL to cap the set--thank you! such a fun song i've been hoping to see this band break out
2nd set in my opinion sounded a lot better, both the musicians and the room. it started out a little shaky with the handle>smokestack>spoonful..tough time with those transitions..a great sequence on paper but seems like over time it may lose its novelty if it is not cleaned up..this is where the set takes off--we are spun out into the deep dark universe where time and space no longer exist--bird song. a great version that really goes out there (dont they all?) other one was great and then it blasted off into a GREAT spanish jam, really interesting stuff--was definitely not expecting this. the eyes and king solomans marbles that came next were great, esp the eyes.. chimenti proves night in night out why he is in this band, and never lets us down on this song (or ever)..dear prudence is not my favorite cover but boy this band does a good job with it, bob vox and all..china rider was awesome it really brought the crowd energy up to maximum level. i thought for sure that was it, set seemed SO long, and bam not fade away for nyc...
a good version of touch to finish things off and thats a wrap
one night at RCMH down, it was great--it was nowhere near the highest level of playing these guys can achieve but it was a showcase that they are not afraid to do anything and literally will take things 'furthur'. i noticed jeff and joe A LOT during this show, and noticed bob and phil interacting with them quite a bit, seemed like more than normal.
the highlights for me were might as well and spanish jam.
seemed like JK was messing around with his equipment WAYYYY more than i've ever seen..must be a tough hall to get right because the guys behind the board were busy all night too..
i had no issue indoors with smoking grass---didnt see anyone have problems and we were in an area with quite a bit of security roaming. had a friend get popped outdoors smoking a joint beforehand--tons of undercovers, just wait til you're inside
((((((((((philzone)))))))))))))
I wish I could click... "like" to many of these comments!
Check out "OneWayOutOne" on YouTube. The dude has most of the show online alone with lots of other nuggets!!!
My son said to me before the show that he wanted to see Dark Hollow, amazing the way they knew he was asking for it, we were blown away. Cool Jam after Stagger,On the road again. Seems like Radio City had thoughts coming back from 1980 Train in Vain wow was a treat. Bird Song Other One serious Phil hammer type thunder. Marbles was the fusion I love. China cat, Home happy
No our love won't fade away...
Phil said that "Train In Vain" was Bob's idea.
