Anybody out there headin to Sat need a rider? Anybody in the city got some floor space? I can't wait fo Hampton. Never been to RCMH. Might be high time. Peace ya'll.
I'm just hoping to hear at least one song about Rain and one song that mentions a city name in the lyrics.
Be warned, major police presence in RCMH area. Peeps and I spent the evening in the 18th precinct. Missed Friday show. Not cool. All you bobbleheads know what I mean.
Yo! Is Adam Dean in the house this night?
That sucks, Althea. I hope today brings better vibes for you and yours. Appreciate the heads-up.
Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for your troubles.
On a music note: didn't they project a lifesize image of the Wall of Sound on that huge screen behind the band once?? Maybe we'll get ome of that action.
let there be a stream....a crystal clear.....no white noise....stream.....maybe an ashes and glass.......i am really digging that tune.......
Watched one of the tapers setting up Ustream lastnight...Keep the faith and hopefully he or she will spread the love tonight..
just looked at my ticket...7:00PM ?!
What time did they hit the first note last night?
I don't remember the exact time but it was after 7:30. Great show
They started at 7:40pm last night.
thanks for the info...
i'm pleading with my girlfriend to get out of work early!
Brett -
If we would have known you were next to the ustream dude last night, we would have paid you handsomely to shoot that howling "drunk Donna" chick that was singing louder than the band into living rooms throughout the land. 8-)
Hey, lighten up on Donna Jean. Most of the problem was result of her not having her own monitor so she couldn't hear herself. But when she was on she was smokin' hot! Listen to the tapes...the good ones that is, when she was mic'ed right! Enjoy the shows!! Peace out
Was thinking ahead to tomorrow night and guest appearances and I had a wacky idea. I was thinking of all the emphasis on Beatles songs thus far and musicians in the NYC area when it occurred to me that Sir Paul himself spends quite a lot of time in our fair city. How cool would that be? Thoughts?

Only got to get to one show so far, 3/23. Personally I think JK is always animated, especially the facial expressions he makes. I've seen him with his band twice now in real small venues so I've gotten some close views! He just grooves.
^^^ +1, for, without doubt, & with psychedelic ecstasy, YES !!! ^^^
thx antney1 !!
great stream!
is that Alice D first time played??
i believe so, brian.
thanks for the stream! I just got back in Albany from last nights show. Had a great time, loved the set list, one of the best Eyes I've heard in a long time. Jeff was on fire all night.
Thank you so very much Antney!

FUCK YES !!!
first set opinions???
I thought it was great, a little short, maybe a long 2nd set?
oh god...
Well it seems to me that Furthur is embodying their name. Alice D Millionare... I'm sure they couldn't get it down in time to play it closer to Owsley Earth departure, and I'm glad they committed revealing one of the most archaic songs of the GD catalog...
Predictions for second set:
Dark Star, St. Stephen>The Eleven, Comes A Time
first set was very upbeat, nice 60's theme. phil and bobby probably needed an early break to recover

Beautiful Sound! You Rock!
XXXOOO
Thanks taperrob. Sounded like a Lucy in the Sky tease just before Alice D.
Fairly short set, what time did they come on?
Last night was also one from the old days. With the exception of Train in Vain all 1st set tunes were 1970's or earlier. last night was also my favorite Furthur show that I have been in attendance at out of about 14 or 15 shows. Not a single bathroom song!
Thanks taperob . . . sounds great on the play back. Alice D! I swear! Gotta love it.
fun stuff this Alice D song...
okay, i am a relatively new Dead fan and it feels weird to know alice d. millionaire when so many others don't.. i am not worthy
. . . and the Cream Puff! So very nice. We're all worthy, Kim. :-}
Hello, Straw.
Mr. Dean my good, good brotha! good evenin' to you my friend.
Alice D. Millionaire
in memory of Bear
"You say you're living in a world of trouble
All your schemes have popped like a bubble
Your mother told your sister
And your brother told your friend
Now your secret's out, and you don't have to pretend
You can see for yourself, it's really not the end
You're standing there with tears in your eyes
There's too much going on now, there's no time to cry
You say the walls are closing in on you child
All your friends have put you in exile
Bad luck seems to follow you all around the world
You can't seem to find no peace of mind girl
You will take a chance to seem so bad
Every minute is a brand new dayv
And there are some games that I'd just love to play
Even bad scenes are for real, there's no time to cry
Since you left your old scene behind you
Go ahead and let the green light find you
It's warm and friendly girl and it won't blind you
Come out in the street and the weeds won't grind you
See the love is in the air, you feel it all around you
Your yesterday's are all left behind
There's a brand new light in your mind
You don't need a key to define
What's written on the magic sign
There's no time to cry
When the season of the magic lantern
Is transformed into a funny pattern
And the wheel of fortune has a flat tire
You can't seem to get any higher
When you go above the [?] machine, you find a horseshoe
Played a few times by the Dead in 1966 and revived by Phil Lesh & Friends in 2002.It is often listed as "No Time To Cry", but "Alice D Millionaire" is the correct title."
from Dead.net
NICE set!
Thanks for that darkstargirl.
Mr. Dean is in the house, fresh from Radio City last eve, where someone spiked my drink (I call it the Weir Syndrome). It was an interesting view from the 1st Mezzanine bar balcony but though I might take a nose dive into the crowd, so I had to back away......the wheels were turning, for sure.
Merci Beacoup Taperob - You're the Shits!!! Sounds so sweet!!! If the're focusing on the first album that would mean you're in for The Dew during the second set!!! Can't wait for the tape delay! Enjoy!
"L S D Millionaire Busted" was the headline in the paper when Bear got busted back in the day. This song was a response to that bust
Same link for 2nd set stream? Or will there be a new link? And do we need a password?

Isn't it awesome to attend the show vicariously through a stream?
So wonderful!!! We are truly blessed brothers and sisters.
At least? Yes, I was at two of them (Sunday & Wednesday). Very local for me. Twas at RCMH last night as well. Contemplation of balcony dive.
Thought you could fly, did ya?
Watching the sun go down here in the mountains of southern California and listening to a show in New York City in near real time is a sublime pleasure.

Yes, this is awesome. stream strong here in West Virginia on the banks of the River of Wild Geese. YEAHHHH!!
I'm serious in saying that I was spiked last night somewhere after I got into the show because by the end of the night I had no recollection of the beginning; lost track sometime after Dark Hollow - several zoners saw me in the 1st Mezzanine balcony bar during the set break trying out my wings.

beam me into that place scotty,,, right now!!a love supreme???
this is ridiculous!!! Awesome.
Images of Jerry... this is a monumental show for Furthur.
This Dark Star>Eclipse>Mountains of the Moon. IMO, this bands ability to jam has reached a higher place then any other post GD incarnation. I'd also say Jeff and John are partly responsible for sparking Phil and Bobby. Everything is sounding focused; the opposite of noodling.
thematically, dark star > eclipse > mountains of the moon makes a strong argument for an eyes of the world in here somewhere

Alice D. Millionaire!! Yes, it is interesting, and a play on words someone here alluded to ealrier: "LSD Millinaire" aka Bear makes a play on words for Alice D Millionare. Well disguised and well played to conceal it back in the day. Looks like a great show. I am sipping Merlot fireside in my PJs by the fireplace in CT watching women's ncaa basketball. Psyched for tomorrow night, my first and oly show of this tour. Hoping summer will come with some nice outdoor venues.

Yes! They did it!
Listen back to the Jam into Dark Star (v.2), JK plays the leading tone of the Stella Blue melody. Interesting how they interweave those subtle hints...
The soundboard of this show will definitely be purchased.
That was sooo very much fun while it lasted, ya'll. Awesome show! lookin forward to the play back of set 2.
Stella Blue

Is that a spot light on John alone? Oh man, this show is profound in so many ways. The shirt was a hint.

Phil did indeed "pull off a doozy" tonight...
would've liked to see Slip go into the Playin' reprise... some times Franklin's can get heavy handed however based on the group mind that was present tonight... it probably floated.
Good 'ol Grateful Dead. This music, this thing, never ceased to leave me spellbounded.
the playing was finished earlier, it was not open ended.
g'night folks great night with ya!
Well Lucy will sufice just fine then!
holy good lord where is the stream?
instantaneous delight bring it please
what....a......night.............whew
tonight was wild, one for the books for sure..
golden road opener was rockin, i really love this band playing this song..i heard some folks complaining they thought it did not fit this band--i couldnt disagree anymore...the viola lee blues was the perfect song to succeed..the dissonant end of golden matches the intro of viola well..this viola reached some interesting heights, hitting a gigantic peak and eventually finding its way back...alligator was done very well...these three songs had me wondering what freakin year it was....all three had been played recently but the latter two were much nicer tonight...minglewood started out a little slow, a real shift in energy but eventually found a nice groove, i thought bob was hittin some nice notes with that slide tonight, them city girls were lovin it...SOTOTW was a highlight of this first set, with no questions. JK shredded the absolute crap out of it, hitting notes EVERYWHERE..alice d millionaire was a huge treat to everyone in attendance, and a massive nod to bear...the vibe was interesting in the room, so many clueless yet informed minds, a real trip i really liked JK's confidence with this song--sometimes he can shy away but he took this song head on and raged it, even with a great solo..the outro jam led us to a well done cream puff war--a personal favorite..lovelight to cap things off for the set..what year is it??
i could only imagine what it was like when the grateful dead hit NY in 1967...a recurring thought throughout the past 2 nights for me
second set kicks off with playin--i could have done without it but the jam was QUALITY--fourth of the tour?? born cross eyed contained an unexpected long intro (bob missed his vocal cue and had a tough time countin the odd time back in) but at least it eventually settled..the jam was great out of this phil was roaring, his volume during this set was unreal..i heard him dancing around the theme riff for dark star but also mts of the moon, couldnt figure out quite which way they were going to take it but dark star seemed like the safer route...very psychadelic..eclipse was so cool, had the 3rd mezz up in a second, blowing minds, jeff sounded AMAZING, so glad he finally got a solo oppotunity..and here we go more psychadelia and a trip to the mts of the moon..not quite as finely tuned as the last one in NY at t he best buy but a fun trip..after this we completely lift off and fly into SPACE..not just some extended jamming but a full on trip around the universe and back, landing on the backend of a dark star...thought they would hold off on the terrapin but we got it..a great example of the full suite..phil was throwing bombs all over this terrapin with a couple that threw me up in the air and i was up in the 3rd mezz--russo was absolutely out of control on the end, OCTOPUS...stella blue was evoking intense emotions from everyone in my area, such great work from john...help slip franks was fun sounded like the first notes were shaky but the slipknot was great, and the first franklins since the last ny run..
obvious saturday night encore, i was hoping for a dual..with u.s. blues
the sound was much better tonight--could have something to do with the seat switch..was in the back of the orch fri and 2nd row DEAD center in the 3rd mezz tongiht...phil was cranking all night long esp during the 2nd set
the 3rd mezz was MUCH cooler than i thought it was going to be...barely any security, tons of freedom, great sound with the pa speakers so high and great view!
cant wait for tomorrow!!!

MERCI BEAUCOUP MR TAPERROB!!!!!! YOU DA MAN!!! :D :D :D
Excellent show...Band keeps getting better..Thanks PHIL !!!
Thank You TRob!
Show was a life changer......thank you to the band and thank you Jk for a heart shattering Stella........
Thank you Furthur for a real good time! Amazing song selection in first set--I thought the second set started off real strong, but after the spacy jam, I thought the set lost something and it morphed into a greatest hits ending with Terrapin-Stella, Help Slip and OMSN that just didn't flow as well as the rest of the show. (for me). Everyone brought their A game and I was very tuned into Phil's bombs all nite! Back for show 5 of my NYC run tonight!
And RCMH..what a special place. No security issues and the
sound was superb!
Sam L.
Sam but those were some of THE greatest hits
The pure '60s first set was a real treat.
The Playin' was the highlight of the show for me.
These guys are pulling out some grand stuff on this tour.
Hoping for Mr. Charlie or Easy Wind tonight.
I'd gladly accept a Rosemary as well.
im going to get killed here....ive gone to every ny show except for friday night rcmh...even though i enjoyed last night and i was totally straight for the 1st time in 600 shows due to some meds im on it was by far the worst of the 6 ive been to....all 5 best buy and last night.....very short ist set....sound was good ....but i knew when we got lovelight it was going to be a spacey night....sorry folks but playing just took all the wind out of everybody...it was too slow and put everybody downstairs sitting down in their seats....then this ridiculously long total space jam ....imo they were just trying to kill time because they knew when they walked off stage after set one that it was only 8:23.....then an unbearable other jam into dark star after born cross eyed which weir missed the beginning....then the highlight eclipse for me followed by a great but very slow and long jams in between verses of mountains of the moon and then terrapin....it was a struggle to get to inspiration but then things started to pick up...great stella blue but phil chopped john who wanted to do a double solo and abruptly had to go back into the 3rd verse when phil pulled the rug out from under him....it almost was tragedy narrowly averted but john made up for it at the end...then a mellow help followed by a great slipknot and the crowd favorite franklins and then a great omsn....i had a great time but my wife couldnt take all the jamming and space.....shes hit 5 saturdays in a row starting with gelston last summer and saturday at coney island and saturday at msg and saturday at best buy and tonight and all 5 times they played terrapin and of course omsn...she says shes never going on a saturday ever again...this show was eerily like gelston castle...at least 7-8 of the same songs some even in the same order....again good time but way too much space for me...but i have to admit i brought a friend whos a pigpen nut and he had a blast
and john was definately playing lucy in the sky during tuning just before playing and weir was playing shakedown street...i was watching him play a d minor and john kept flipping pages in his cheat book...and right before omsn john flipped a page in the book....now ive been playing guitar for 35 years and one more sat night is 1 of the easiest songs to play and theres no way he was flipping the page for cheats on omsn which leads me to believe they were going to play something after omsn but decided against it...highlights cream puff war, eclipse,at a siding stella blue slipknot
My face hurts from smiling. Killer show.
Good time at RCMH last night. Dug the entire 2nd set. John K in fine form. Phil laying it down.
...
Sorry- the band seemed "stuck in the mud" to me, and I was 85% bored with this show.
Not good when 2 minutes of a Pink Floyd song was the most exciting part of the night...
Good show. Had lots of fun with my blue LEDs during the show...especially during Stella Blue!
The tribute to BEAR was blatantly present and they picked the right ways to do it. The Steal Your Face logo that was projected on the screen was much more than just a logo that was created by BEAR (and one other person). The silver Steal Your Face logo they projected was BEAR's belt buckle. He made all types of metal and ceramic castings, including that one.
It was also very cool that they included the famous picture of BEAR and JERRY standing with each other. Might have been even cooler if the band projected an unreleased photo of BEAR, but I'm definitely not complaining here.
Great show in a great venue with a great crowd. Pure fun.
Very fortunate I was there for the first Alice D. Millionaire.
