So ready for some electric tribal boogie stomp...
Thanks GDTS for yet another great seat!
Perfect weather forecast and expecting an awesome shoe even with the strong possibility of a OMSN.
I really want a blistering China>Rider, anything from Abbey Road, and whatever Jill decides.
Just bring it.
....."and whatever Jill decides".
I've been seeing comments like this, and wonder what sort of control she has over what the band plays, or if this is just some speculation on the part of fans.
I also read in the Hampton thread someone wishing for a recreation of the '89 set list from said city. Is this what people really want is to know beforehand what they'll play? One song, as with playing Abbey Road was cool, but to go in knowing what they'll play? I'm a little disappointed they even have a set list. Gone are the days....
We need a To Lay Me Down tonight
I love waking up early on Show Day!!!
Finally figured out how to broadcast audio only on ustream... will try to get one going tonight!
any extra floors for tonight? i'm all set, asking for a friend who needs just one
I want my zone back
can anyone tell me where the PL&F setlists have gone?
glad there 's no darkness in the givens today. apex central
The zone is back, thank god i bookmarked the discussion board or i woulda missed last night. hopin for a saturday night stream, always searching for the sound
I'll walk in with a full phone charge. Enjoy!
Thank you very much,in advance, Courtners. Luv a sharing streamer. Much appreciated. Enjoy the show!
Yes, I second that. Ill be there: Front Row Center: Thanks GDTS, but last night SUCKED w no stream.....
I've enjoyed them over the past weeks so thought it would be cool to broadcast one. My phone has good battery life and with the audio only action I think it should last for most of the show. Out the door to head down there now... Woohoo!
Oh and I have an extra if anyone is looking... good seats way low down in the bowl on the JK side.
Because of you, i'll be there too. Thanks Courtners. Good luck!
1 floor, who's got it?
JK warming up backstage last night
>>>I've been seeing comments like this, and wonder >>>what sort of control she has over what the band >>>plays, or if this is just some speculation on >>>the part of fans.
it's been pretty widely acknowledged that she and matt busch (bobby's manager) alternate making up the setlists. sometimes phil/bobby add input, sometimes not. jill's talked about it here on the zone, and again last week when they were chatting on furthur board...
thanks -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

where you gonna be? wish i was there. had to miss em this spring....sucks to be me......
did you take that picture? can you please post more?
South Carolina... venue looks beautiful.
Hi! logging on from beautiful eugene or. were countin' on ya corthers just think if it works i'll be listening from 2800 miles or so away ain't technology great! when it works... and it's about time for that LAZY/SUPP or another spanish jam would be cool
Hey I have heard things about Jill creating the set list but I seriously doubt it. I can assure you no one is telling bob when to play sailor saint or estimated. I had heard that several years ago bob created a software program that spits out a list based on criteria such as last played and even considers what has been played at the venues since even the GD last played a particular venue. At MSG in Nov that St Stephen was the first of any "dead" incarnation since the infamous 10-11-83. Even when the dead would play if you see the movie dead ahead Jerry is back stage making up the Halloween set list in'80. This is certainly a fascinating topic and part of the core of the mystery and lore of dead set lists.
My prediction for tonight based on my 5 shows up north
Big boss man
Born cross eyed
If I am not mistaken in 1982 on this date in NC Jerry and Phil switched sides for good.
Since they are in SC it would be phunny if Phil and JK switched sides for the show...
Wish i was there. weatherman sez its 72 degrees and sunny as it can be there. I only saw one show at the coliseum, springsteen in '08, which was very good. Have fun all!
The dead played st. Stephen at msg on 4/25/09.
Jim right on! How could I have forgotten...I think that was the first st Stephen played in that building since 83?...
Regarding who makes the setlist, in all respect to all members I hope the band or at least bob and phil do the list but come to think of it it may be fun for the band to be handed a print out and they themselves don't know what they will play.
isn't all about the predictions...first note says what? pleeeze surprise me! trukin opener tonite
jerry was super down on pre-planned setlists...
>>>Hey I have heard things about Jill creating the set list but I seriously doubt it.
she said she did here. why would she lie about it?
The biographies say they(the Grateful Dead) would have a muse/color/theme and some loose structure at least a starting point in creating set lists
you know its gonna get stranger...
sure, as a launching point for spontanaiety, not a predetermined prison. there's any interview from the '70's where he speaks out pretty passionately about this...
Show started. Playin opener via twitter
this is such a spacey way to kick it off
Way to go court
he needs to turn down his input, prolly not possible on a phone...
just emailed courtner... see if it gets adjusted.
court-something wrong with audio crackley too high volume hurtin my head
my first bad trip
Courtners - stream working but you need to TURN DOWN your microphones as it sound svery distorted - THANKS for the stream, phriend!
I guess it's the thought that counts
man if the 15K people didnt sing along the stream would be perfect. seems to me the crackly/fuzzy sound only happens when every1 sings along
After the Hampton lot I'd expect someone to say:
"And the heat came round and busted me for smiling on a cloudy day"
Playin' in the Band
big bad blues
Jumping Jill makes the set lists no more spontaneity for this band
This stream is truly painful
sounds like shit but the price is right
It's sounds perfect until they start singing and playing instruments :0) Thanks for the good intention!!!
gonna go do bongers till this sounds good
There aren't that many bongs in the world . . .
And there were complaints about a 5 minute delay. I'd take a 1/2 hour delay at this point.
I think I hear a Cumberland in all that static.
switch over to live chat terror, zoners
I'm in a three point stance right now--hike
gotta say... young lady was kind enough to post this before noon. has seen alot of shows and is ending it up by streaming this one for us. gotta imagine holding your phone up all night must suck! pretty selfless act if you ask me. i would probably be dancing like a banshee if it was my last show. thanks again courtners
yup, cumberland blues
anyone got another stream? hugs for your stream
what's your e-mail hounder, in case i hear anything?
she'd do better not holding it up and getting it furthur away from the sound source...
I was going to suggest to turn off video to save batteries...but sounds like we lost her completely. Maybe tweaking. Thanks again and enjoy the show
Well, I applaud the effort.
pretty good first set tonight
agreed. jeff is shining tonight
kim is hearing the shoe somehow. Are you at the show?
I'm jonesin after Hampton last night. Any extras out there?
danceswithchainsaws (Hounder) said: I'm in a three point stance right now--hike
Seriously, dude, do you think that is funny? What is your fucking problem? Kid jumps through a window and you think it's a joke? I mean, to even try to get a laugh off of that sick comment is reprehensible (look it up, dude). You are obviously a sick fuck and beyond help. If no one else will call you out in public, then I will. Get a life, loser.
The more I see what you said the more I think you should be banned FOREVER from this forum, asshole. Please apoligize.
^^^yea, what he said
following the set list by facebook/twitter updates. but, give me an e-mail in case something pops up there?
obvious troll is obvious.
maybe we should sugest they add an "ignore" function then we don't have to read his posts
banned sounds about right.
Adam your anger is a little off the charts but sorry if I offended anyone I can certainly be inappropriate at times but sometimes I think humor is better than despair
I guess Melvin I'm just shocked to know it's true...nice Lookin show so far so I guess kudos Jill and whoever made the list so far...wish I was there!
here's the first set recorded
To dance Adam is right grow up you destitute imbocile. A young man is dead and nothing about that will ever be funny.
Apologize to yourself for likely disappointing the good person we all know is with in you.
Don't banter don't keep posting. Adam is 100% correct. Your probably a nice guy but your comment IS offensive and disrespectful.
Peace band rip kimutis...
HT > Merci Beaucoup!!!!
now thats a stream
god it sounds like theres hope for me yet show me the way to your rightousness
Dance, You obviously don't have children. Imagine you took your best friend to the concert of a band you've loved for years. The person ducks out to take a pee (whatever) and you find out shortly thereafter they are dead. Not only would you be sick about what happened, it would COLOR THE WAY YOU SAW THIS BAND for the rest of your life.

ok folks pull out already go bitch at somebody who cares theres humor in everything and if you are so uptight that you cant see that then you are too far gone sorry
Dude said: Adam your anger is a little off the charts
I will leave this one up to 'the audience' to decide; it's too obvious that you don't have children (one would hope that to be true).
guess you've already done your research-creepy
"Pull out already". Me thinks the LADY doth protest too loudly...
Adam-I hope we can meet someday, share a hug, and laugh about all this.
Life is too short to hate a stranger

Dances just grow up okay that's all you said something dumb end of story. It offended people.you are wrong. Your argument that there is humor in everything is ridiculous. Why don't you tell us all about the hidden hilarity in japan or hati or any other deaths you are aware of. Maybe you are one of those people with godd 9-11 jokes too...death should not be Sartre. You have lots of growing up to do.
an Again and Again would greatly enhance this set methinks

in way shape or form is a joke like that cool... dehumanizing...
Let's respond to these fools in a wise way though, I kill me to see the Philzone get a bad rap with arguments.

New Potatoe Caboose
You know the rules by now,and the fire from the ice
1. Are you kind?
2. There ain't no time to hate.
is the live stream gone? the recorded 1st set stream is very nice - THANKS FOR THAT!!
This is the Show Reviews section. This is the section for people to review the show. Take your babble over to the Other folder.
Thank you.. for a real good time! great sound streamers ur onto something, this rocks.
st. stephen !
password-protected live stream. so frustrating... there's always gdradio.net tomorrow though..
Um folks...this is the philzone. We are asholes. I'm not saying what he said is right or wrong but not sure ruining a show thread is worth it.
(And yes I have kids....and yes it's sad)
this first set is awesome. definitely one of the best i've heard from furthur
Because>New Potato sounds like a beautiful combination...
James - thanks for the first set
Adam is cool ...he put up with my crazy hand dancin self on balcony at Philly Sun nite. funny part is we never met before and i did'nt know till next day(on here) we were both zoners.
...very kind and a gentlemen to boot !
Sheesh, why are we bothering to feed Dances' juvenille craving for attention at any cost? It's not like anyone with the slightest sense of decency needs a lesson in basic human compassion, nor is there anything any of us can say that's gonna have any impact on the dude. What say we put our personal feelings aside and let this comment be the last one that acknoweldges his existence, or at least that of his insensitive remarks, and stick to the biz of chatting up the show. Seriously. No need to respond to this post, either to agree, disagree, or expand -- just let the poor shmuck's stupid comments fall into a bottomless void of sheer silence.
That said, thanks to the show-goers for the updates!
Help On The Way
...still looking for my "iggy" button...
Cumber & The Glick Man - you are so there, thanks. Listening the recorded first set and loving it! Lyn, you can hand dance any time in front of me!

Adam Dean... You are the man.
nice, thanks for updates james. gonna catch SNL, tonight is Elton hosting, and leon russell music guest w/Elton as well playing.
he just did a funny opening monologue, really bustin on himself, nite all ~
can't wait for tomorrow !
Wow, a Saturday night show and no Dark Star? Probably saving for the Fox.
Mcauleyb........thanks for that info. I'd like to think Bobby came up with this system and not Phil's wife. What the band plays should be left up to the band solely as their the ones that have to play them.
Dances with chainsaws.....let me pose this question. If you had been the guy who died in Pittsburgh and someone made the same comment and your mom/dad/spouse/significant other/child read it, would you expect them to have such a flippant attitude as you've expressed?
how many times has Furthur played Masterpiece?
Phil, Jill, and Bobby have all explicitly said that Jill and Matt create the setlists... of course, Phil, Bobby, John, Jeff have their say and may make edits.
Recognizing themes/colors in sets is something I love... some Grateful Dead anthropologist needs to write a book on the subject someday.
I want to catch a Revolution so bad! Phil always has a shit-eating grin on his face at one point during that song-he wants a revolution.

11/9/2010 Ames Ia..
4/2/2011 N. Charleston S.C.
I only caught mid-way through the 2nd set....thought they sounded tired.
My buddy who just saw 7 shows in the n. east said this was the clunker of the tour...
And the guy who turned me onto the GD in '86 (who hadn't seen them before, and I had been talking Furthur up to said....
"First of all, you oversold them. In bed now, will text about the Mediocrity tomorrow,"
just back from the show.... first set was hot... everything played very well... Jack Straw smoking.... Sailor/SaInt really well done... energy lagged a little until St Stephen which was really jammed out... Help/slip very strong JK tearing up the Slipknot... nice double encore... Bobby ROARING on Masterpiece..... I think your buddy who saw 7 in the NE must have roadburn.... This was a very good show... a little Bob heavy, but super tight... Fox is gonna rock!!!
What Jimbo and Claude said re: stream. Appreciate the try, Courters.
This show ROCKED out......hot set list, 2 Encores! If you were there you know the deal. Just down loaded the show and......yup, it was PHAT! Seems that they just get better and better! Front row didnt hurt!
