The best theater in the South and one of the top 5 in the USA. Always a special time with great music and friends. Welcome back to ATL Furthur!
true dat! they need to bust out a "blow away!"
Am right next door at the Publik House now - all quiet in preparation.
extras? I'm thinking it would be fun to go...
WOW, great shows in Hampton and Charleston. Furthur will have to go DEEP to cap the 3 night run!
In town for the week visiting the kid. Just saw them up in Binghamton and had a great time.
They surprised me this morning with tickets to tonights show. Here we come Fox theater, now if I could scam some tickets for the trucks tedesci show friday night. This going to be good week, off to a great start. Time with the grand kids, sun shine and warmth, good tunes.
Im looking for a ticket or 2 to buy, please sell me your spare! thanks
Wish I could be there tonight! Here's hoping for a great Fox show for all of you who will be.
Saw my first GD show at the Fabulous Fox in 1978, saw every Atlanta GD show from 78-95. My seat for the show that the bus came by for me in 78 was the front row Loge center seat, and Jer looked up at me and smiled at how much energy I was giving off during that Terrapin! (Or so I maintain)
I had 4th row orchestra for Fox 77 shows, but they got postponed and I was out of town when they went down.
Wish I could have made it down from the WNC mountains for this one - not to be though.
I'll be there in Spirit!
Heading outside for some pool time and leaving for ATL about 1 CST. After a shopping trip to Performance Bicycles, we'll make the Fox by 4:30 EST.
Where's everyone eating?
Shakedown, we've got 2 extras across the street from The Fox at The Georgian Terrace Hotel for face + fees =$73.80 each. Orch. Row W. Let me know if we can help, Tom
Heading down in a few minutes.
Heading down in a few minutes. Would like to up grade our seats if any one can help.
Tom B that would be awesome! can you send me your phone number so we can arrange a meeting? my email is rsheehan6@gmail.com and my phone is 404)630-9187 . thanks a ton man!

Inside:
Whoa... that theater is absolutely BEAUTIFUL...
They have been a little reserved with JG/RH ballads that John sings... Only Dew, Stella, and So Many Roads this tour?
I feel they may play Comes A Time tonight, or China Doll.
As usual, nice pics Dylan!!! Thanx!!!!
Thanks Dylan for taking and francesco for posting these pics today at The Fox!
I really did GET the Grateful Dead big originally in this theater, and the room always helps raise your awareness big time in my experience.
So Psychedelic!
Would be the perfect place (Moorish palace) to break out the Blues For Allah suite.
theyve played 'em both; comes a time @ Tower for sure..china doll in boston maybe?
you're welcome everyone
Got no solid plans for tonight so I should be able to post song updates/pics during tonight's show.
to lay me down tonight would be perfect......
Thx Dylan, look forward to updates!! :-)
they played china doll the last night at the tower (3/23/11)
The jam after Crazy Fingers at this Fox show is a perfect musical interpretation of the building's architecture:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1985-10-29.sbd.fi x-shnid-33704.tetzeli.76118.flac16
The Jam is not tracked separately in this version, but starts aroundn 6 min's into Crazy Fingers (track 13), and really gets going around the 9 - 10 min mark.
prayin for a stream... am i the only one?? thanx bob for the link.
New to this board but been on the bus for forty years -- not sure how to find the live stream -- any help is deeply appreciated.
WOW! - just listened to the recommendation from "Sideshow Bob" above -- that jam out of Crazy Fingers is the "Grateful Dead" to the core ....thank you....
That jam was needed to repair the damage done by how 'lost' lyrically Jer got during this tune - all of which I remember from the Loge, just next to the board where Healey and Candace had located for that run, totally messing up the balcony sight-lines and taking out alot of seats.
Wish I was there! Beautiful theater! Might have to road trip soon.
Hit Fairfax and Hampton. Can't wait for All GOOD!
kim???
stream info, please?
Vincent, china doll in colorado was stunning....as was roses.....i could hear jk do jerry ballads all night long!
is the birthday of late great Richard Manuel from the Band....perhaps one of the many band tunes in the arsenal will appear?
If they'd play 2 or more shows there, I'd travel there in a heartbeat. Maybe next year. Went to the 2 Phil shows Dec '05 w/Barry/Larry - phenomenal shows - place was 1/2 full at most - very chill scene outside - ceiling/sky was fully lit.

But the tempo of the songs sounds definitely like Bobby though....
2nd set opener - cryptical or iko iko
must have blow away tonight as well
send a clear stream for the second set is all we ask oh' gods of the airvawes
they should have done "Reuben & Cerise" -- it would have fit perfectly
I'll be happy for recorded sets - I'm west coast so the time delay makes things seem right on time! lol
Yeah - the tempo is leaning Ratdog. Still, Hell and Cold Rain were pretty hot. How was Ramble on Rose? Man, I woulda gone just for that!
JK has lots of room for fills ("phills") at the slower tempo so he keeps them smoking
nice pictures...a classic theatre indeed and a cool shakedown as well
Man, I really want to go to this one....
I got a feeling that set II is going to be hot!!

Maybe JK's loosening up now that they've left all the "critics" behind up north in the Dead Belt!! lol

Both Bobby and John are wearing sandals tonight
I think bobby has those things glued to his feet
Eyes or Terrapin
Bobby and John always wear the Birkenstocks... a fine German product. Wearning some right now, and they do morph to your feet quite beautifully.
Speaking of beautiful, a To Lay Me Down and Wharf Rat in the same show is my dream.
Glad to see Wharf Rat in the second set too as they've kept in the first as of late... I have been chasing that song for the past year with Furthur... one day... one day.

All the ebay losers will snap those CD's up - bad move.
I might have bought the download.
They should release all of the past shows for download too.
I wonder if this has to do with royalties for playing The Last Time?
You know Mick counts every penny.
...
looked like a great show. Great tour! Looking forward to seeing this band again
Love the Terrapin!
taper_rob IS the dude of dudes!
Does that mean the Stones pay royalties to The Staple Singers who wrote the gospel song "This May Be The Last Time" upon with their song is based?
The recorded stream is sweet > Thanks Terrapin, Taperob and all you other tape phreaks for sharing the love!!!
>>>>
Does that mean the Stones pay royalties to The Staple Singers who wrote the gospel song "This May Be The Last Time" upon with their song is based?
No, they credited "The Last Time" to Jagger/Richards in 1965.
No royalties are due to anyone. But the potential concern over it is why bob rightfully wanted the archive to shut down the sbd sharing. With those beetles tunes The Jackson Family owns those rights and I assure you nobody is sending them money. The beatles sold MJ those rights for millions years ago.
Did they do the full star?
Nice Lookin show!
Actually the Beatles didn't sell their catalogue to MJ. The record company (EMI?) sold them to the highest bidder and MJ beat out Sir Paul for them. That was also part of the hold up for putting them on iTunes.
really enjoyed the 1st set. 2nd set was well played and had its moments but filled with a bunch of songs that did nothing for me.
Either way I think this would be the second show, the other being Santa Barbara, that are not being allowed to be downloaded. No reviews yet either. Hopefully later today
Oh lord, they got the To Lay Me Down breakout, very nice, must have been wonderful.
I cannot offer anything I that could be called a review, as I was totally absorbed in the show from the first second to the last. It was a thrilling event on a beautiful spring day. A few things that surprised me...Bob's solid connection with the audience, the beauty of John's playing, the over-the-top excellence of Joe on drums, the great mix of songs, and the intense interplay of the band. All basics for Furthur, I suppose, but they beat my expectations. It is a shame that a credit card company ruined the word priceless. This show was as good as it gets, and we were lucky to be there.
My first visit to the Fox theater, what a beautiful place---must be one of the nicest venues in the nation.
I thought the 1st set smoked and was really looking foward to the second set and was a little dissappointed, not a big fan of dark star, liked a lot of the set--especially the 11 and terrapin.
The message from the band was something about time, don't waste it I guess. Phil is a man possessed, he sounded great, Bobby was spot on two shows that I have seen on this tour. The rest of the band smokes, Jon K has kinda growed on me like a fungus. 33 years of dead music, who would have thought it would still be happening 16 years after Jerry passed.
The wife and kid sure surprised me with this unexpected show, now find tix for friday nights trucks/tedaschi show.
funny limmited edition "dowloading"" show up for free already on the archive "All the ebay losers will snap those CD's up - bad move.
I might have bought the download." yeay if you really need the sb,,ther'es always demonoid et al!http://www.archive.org/details/further2011-04-03
Merci downloading as I type and of coarse went right to To Lay Me Down
It was all that and everything.
The Grateful Dead ain't nothin' to fuck with!
i absolutely loved this show. high energy start to finish and the band sounded great! highlights: cold rain and snow, the eleven, time, terrapin, brokedown. just fucking great. i can't wait to see them again!
Sir Paul got the Beatles song rights back this year or last, I thought I read...
this show rocked my face off,I havent danced like that since 1993.thank you FURTHER!
so i take my daughter to her first show ever, and she gets a dark star.
thank you phil! thank you bobby!
keep comin' back!
I just want to say thanks for that archive link above, Deadtothecore. That recording starts off a little loose/buzzy, but becomes fantastic as it goes on. Great imaging and puts me right in the Fox. That Dark Star really impressed me for how far this band has come! Even a midi-jam segment in there like 89-90. Wish I could have made the show in person, since the Fox and the GD there meant so much to me over the years. (I saw 78 and 85 runs in there and had tickets for 77 but had to leave town during the make-up dates after the postponement and missed those.)
