Day #2
cold rain today!!! still winter in the bay area! GO FURTHER.....
Unbroken & Let It Grow tonite?
tonight could be ballad night, yesterday definitely was not!
John Barlow made it in for the 2nd set last night. If he's still in town for tonight's show then I would make a strong assumption that tonight is the night we get a MY BROTHER ESAU!!!
Cold Rain and Snow opener...
i'll be "that" guy
anyone streaming it???
yeah miracle stream anyone?

China Cat Sunflower
Sounds great!
I Know You Rider
that poster is a headache-giver.
the china cat jam seemed a little more modern sounding than the old style versions they've done lately
That was really solid playing
better first set tonight and last night wasn't bad !
Holy crap! China > Rider SMOKED!
Chimenti for President!
shoreline looks kinda nice.
better than polaris or pine knob or deer creek or star lake.
the tent awning is kind of a nice touch, too bad there's no trees
I wish they would come to Blossom
>>>>>>>>that poster is a headache-giver.
yeah, but it's a well done, eye pleasing headache-giver
I was at blossom in 2000
the other ones with ziggy marley and ekoostik hookah ?
yes. nice venue
did you sample the lavender paper that night ?
out of this world.
maybe that's why I enjoyed The Other Ones without Phil
Lavender is a great color, especially at 6 am outside my dorm room in 1987. On the pink sheet. Word.
But not without Phil.

Overall, Friday had more energy, particularly when it cane to the first set. Snokin' Cumberland and deal. Tonight was solid but not quite as on fire. Odd shakedown placement. But as always, a real good time!
Home from 2 great nights under the big top at Shoreline. Band was smoking both nights. Phil and Bob both looked like they had a blast and showed no signs of mailing it in. I'm very excited to see the direction this band takes the music and feel blessed for two amazing nights of music. Favorites from tonight include Ten Jed, China-Rider, The Wheel and Scarlet-Fire.

Not picking on your Phil20 but I'm always amazed these types of comments. I mean isn't it pretty clear what direction the band is taking?
at times, but no more than the Q
So glad you have so much free time Whit to pick apart my post show comment. Please use your crystal ball for more important issues. Peace.
Furthur is coming together as an ensemble. It's refreshing to see all the members of the band grooving as one, harmonizing, and allowing each other times to take the lead. It's no longer Bobby and Phil headlining, but a cohesive team of players and singers who have found their stride. Really loved both Shoreline Shows. Go Team Furthur.
Thank you for a real good time!
PS
Nice set lists too!
Think I got it but could someone post last nites
setlist? Purdy please.......

E-One More Saturday Night
Muchos Garcias!!!!
Last night started off slow compared to the energy of Friday. It picked p at the china rider and didnt let up. Saturday sick, Friday sicker. The bay area got a real treat with both of these show from a quality of playing standpoint and the set list perspective. Thank you for a real good time and a phat phall tour annoucment for the left coast. Long overdue......
I write this after driving 24 out of 36 hours, down from outside of portland to shoreline to catch nite 2 of furthurs epic 2 nite stand at shoreline. I rolled down with my old schoold friend from eugene...woke at 2:30 hit the road by 3:15 and parked it the lot by 4:30pm. The lot i was in which was the main one with the furthur bus was heavily patrolled - both by cops and the yellow coats...such is shoreline. why - i dont know...maybe its because they know the scene so well and the way the lots are set up are easibly controllable...who knows? Anyway the lot was true to itself grungy anf faithful.
we went to get into the show around 6:30 ishpm...i hit a line that was just about the slowest line i have ever been through for any show anytime - it took +45 minutes to get in.
I had section 2 pavillion and as i made it too my seats furhur had taken the stage and begun the familliar tuning.
Slow blues jam into trucking - of course trucking....then more blues and subtle smokestack tease...maybe - but then drops itno new speedway. Ruben is always a treat anywhere...then all over now. During all over now i head up to the lawn to check out the lawn seats...all over now i associate with the 70's - egypt...an intresting call...loose lucy and jed on the lawn and then a fat china rider to close...strange weather dark but to light for light shows...the lines coming in are still screwed and as the first set ends the lawn is really only 2/3ds full.
second set im back in my seats...my seats are right next to a friend of mines. like right next - i have 26 and 27 he has 24 and 25 same row. we didnt buy them together or even ever talk about going. Our seats are right next 2 each other - because i was on the lawn for first set we figure it out during set break...very strange.
second set. weather report - band is tight and focused. the seats allow me a much improved view and sound. weather report is awesome - i never caught it with the grateful dead - this is great...sounds perfect...then let it grow. let it grow has been strong for furthur since the get go...for whatever reason they are all super confident and drive the song...drop down into really a stellar eyes. i havent heard eyes scince phil and firends when he toured with string cheese. eyes is sweet...bathroom window...this was kind of a switch in the show...the beginning of the second set flowed really well...but this was like ok - here we go...and we did...the wheel...is there another song that is more grateful dead then the wheel? so simple...such a breeze and so cool...then for me JK's best moment..a great lead up and drop down into shakedown. this is the beauty of furthur...when did the grateful dead ever drop shakedown into a mid second set? late 70's is when...by the 80's and 90' it opened sets...wheel > shakedown..thats vintage...the SOTM>NFA...sat nite encore was smooth firing grateful dead...nothing to risky - just good rock n' roll.
for me it wasn't a mind blwoing show...but it was really solid. i was tired and wore out...but now i want more...eugene is going to rage.
there are many more stories...but the post is long enough.
long live the grateful dead!
oh yeah and they threw in scarlet fire as well....but not just a throw in...just cant belive i just remebered it..
Thanks Bobwierd! Well written.
Bobweird-I inquired about the amount officers/event staff there and they told me its due to the fact that the city now owns the venue. He even went on to say that they would be arresting more people in those 2 days than they would the entire year. As I shook my head in disgust, I imagined what Jerry was thinking from up above. Definitely not something he would stand for
Whoever you inquired from told you wrong.
The city doesn't own the building, and never has.
Hardly any arrests, and the ones that happened were deserved.
The police officer told me that the city owned it as he made me poor my beer out. Who owns the venue?
It was implied to me that Mountain View owns the parking lot land, or something to that effect.
Yeah, the city owns the lots, and they're designated as City Park land, which is why they're so anal about alcohol and such.
You're lucky they just had you poor your beer and didn't write you a ticket.
Live Nation owns the venue itself, but they aren't the ones creating the issues in the lots.
The general tenor out there for the past weekend was set by the way things used to go there in the old days, when there would be 22,000+ ticket holders there each day but 26,000+ people total would be roaming around, trashing the lots and surounding neighborhoods and crashing the gates.
You know, the Good Old Days.
Damn fun shows this past weekend though.
thanks from out east b weird and to you all... fun read..
and yes the wheel does definitely bring the grateful
still though.. its the let it grow that has my mind dancing
on
a
pin
sorry for the cliche haha
we used to pour our beers in big blue keg cups,, out a site was always out of mind!!! specially at the "dump"
the cops walked slow and showed themselves early, if you were dealing and sleepwalking it would be a problem, they were not looking especially hard and comparing to some recent east coast experiences, very tolerant
>>Definitely not something he would stand for
just curious, what the hell could Jerry do about it?
furthur has diamondized a new sound!! thats right furthurfanz listen to both shoreline shows & u will hear something familiar yet new! what did u expect after over 100 shows & 2 yrs of touring! the bus is rolling so get on now cuzz this could be the last time!so excited for red rocks once again the pinnacle of deaddom out west!
