Hello to Jill and Phil, Bobby and Matt, Jeff, John, Joe, Sunshine, and Jeff P,
I want to thank you guys for an awesome week of music from Bethel to GOTV. The music and vibe was incredible. My beautiful wife bought tickets to all those shows and to CMAC in Canandaigua, NY , a first July 26th birthday show for a Phan who has been on the bus since 1977. This will cap off our summer vacation. I have never wanted to know what the band was going to play as we love surprise birthday presents. But living on Magnolia Mountain is a place we'd love to grow old, that is of course if you are willing to give it a try,

Canandaigua, NY ; ooops my spelling bee hat fell off my head for a minute there...sorry phans.
Saw an exquisite Steely Dan show at CMAC last night. Love this venue and the Dinosaur BBQ and .75 liters of wine for $10 at the Corona Tiki Bar. Looking forward to Furthur on Tues.
I couldn't agree more sweet Jane!A great evening indeed and quality food and drink for sure. The Dan sounded great and you can't beat the price for a good bottle of wine.My girlfriend had the blackbery merlot which was very tastey! If you're going on Tuesday you owe it to yourself to grab a pulled pork sandwich from the Dinosaur! The Fingerlakes wines are very good also!
I can recommend the Pinot Grigio. I'll sample the merlot on Tues. Hey all, look for the hippie van, you'll know it when you see it. Wonder if my buddy will hustle his way into VIP parking again for nothing. Shh...
Is there anyone out there tonight? Set list? Stream??

I loved Brent's driving sound....Jeff C takes me back there sometimes. I remember the day 21 years ago like it was yesterday.
Having a similar feeling tonight in anticipation of heading back to see the Boys on thursday ...as I did when the band played in my Ohio backyard (Richfield Coliseum) for their 1st show after Brent died...
^^that was one of the strangest nights ever....happy that they were back, but wondering what the sound would be...walking out that night was really something

I'm glad for those who are in attendance tonight. Tried to get there but my prospect for a ride flaked out. Figured it was going to be a good one, and it sure looks like a better night then even PNC. Enjoy! Let's hope for Dew to end the set.

Lazy River Road
Can't wait to hear a first hand account of how this night was. Looks like a rocking good time.
I know you Rider Encore???
Ahhh! Lazy River nicey
...
Glad to see there are no sharpies covering the songs they meant to play but didn't have time for.
Was there any verbal mention of the anniversary of Brent's passing, dedication, etc.?
i kinda like seeing the sharpies. Nothing better than an extra jammed out DS or a nice long transition jam. With sharpies it just means they were flowin harder than expected. With no sharpies to me it means just another "too perfect show"
Sick ass show. Not trying to rush you guys but I'm leaving for ATL tomorrow and I can't wait. Seems so far away, but I've enjoyed the couch tour. I've listened to every night and I CAN'T WAIT! Rumor mill says the boys my make their way to the palace here in Louisville late fall!!! See y'all on the road...
That looks AWESOME.
Set looks intriguing! hoping someone posts a delayed stream i am at a hotel in Mexico city and would love to hear tonights show.....
and let sweet Don Julio Reposado and a little lazy river road drift me to sleep.
Unbroken Joe called me and said in between sets a bird flew inside and landed on the piano. He said Jeff Pherson and some of the crew were taking pictures of it. Did anyone else see this?
>>>> in between sets a bird flew inside and landed on the piano. He said Jeff Pherson and some of the crew were taking pictures of it. Did anyone else see this?
THAT IS WAY COOL ....
specially after the first set Tons of Steel
BEST SHOW OF THE TOUR BY FAR !!!!!!!!!!
quite the nod to Brent.
sounds like the boys didn't lose any steam from PNC and are continuing to fire on all cylinders... look out Carolina!
I did hear from another friend about the bird flying in and landing on the keyboards for a bit. This is yet another in a long list of serendipitous and cosmic moments that this long strage trip has given us... I suspect Jeff Pherson may post a picture. He has been asked!
RIP Brent
on the bird
At the 2004 The Dead concert at Chula Vista, a hawk flew over the stage during 8 miles High and then landed on the stage until the song finished.
Not sure if the band members knew it or not, but the crowd sure did.
It definitely looked like the bird was deliberating checking out what was going on.
RIP Brent, he is sorely missed. I've been at this GD thing for a long time. I'm not afraid to say this band, this incarnation is not capable of a bad show. Every FURTHUR show I've been to has been between very good to beyond belief. They inspire me to continue to live it all out dance, grab back the freedom of my younger years and somehow muster the energy to do it.
The 1st set rocked and for the # of songs played was realitivly short. They were ripping through some of the songs like Promised Land,BIODTL. Tons of Steel was both emotional and inspiring, then to see Brent's face up there on the backdrop...to cool for words. Dark Hollow was awesome as was BRR Blues. 2nd set was off the hook, to many jams and transitions to mention. It was back to daze of old with their jams. We all know how good Phil is and what Bobby can do with those chord progressions,we surley must have given JK his due by now (i have), an unreal talent, but this Jeff C on the keys is over the top good, he did Brent proud last night. Sure I'd rather have seen the Dew in the Black Pete slot but they played like they ment it and JK sang it with emotion. Phils singing was spot on and it's been great listening to his voice mature over the years, Sure Bobby flubbed a few start ques in one of the songs but who cares. These guys are a band beyond description. I can't believe Phil and Bobby have the stamina to keep going night after night. I'm just grateful they do so I must keep going. There really is nothing like a FURTHUR show! The show for me was as good as the set list. I have yet to be let down by these guys. I can'd say yhe same for some late 80s and the shows in the 90's but I started well before that and thought I had my flil when Jerry exited. His spirit lives on and he and Brent both nudged them along last night. What a lucky cat I am to have been born into this space and time. I got to see it. Before I shut up I just want to say Thanks to all the players through the years and all the Heads that have made my life whole and filled in the many gaps that needed filling. Truley emotional, gratifying and selfishly still looking for more.
I guess you can say last night show was pretty damn good, huh......Peace
First set seemed pretty short and show ended around 10:40.
I Want You rocked the place.
I was psyched for Black Peter until Bobby sang it. I feel like it's a slap in the face to Jerry's memory to change up one of his best songs. Does Bob think he is improving these songs?
Did Jk sing black peter?
"I'd rather have seen the Dew in the Black Pete slot but they played like they ment it and JK sang it with emotion"
Bobby "sang" it but JK was an emotive contributor to the back-up vocals. The instrumental portions of the song were insanely good.
I knew Bobby sang it. I listened to JK's singing and the way he tried to bring the phrasing to where I think the song was ment to be sung. Again, I thought it would have been good placement for the Dew. Much like Jerry, JK's emotion is always there. The 2 (Jerry & JK) of them play ed and sing/sang like the world was/is stopping after they get done with any particular song. I really don't at all like comparing JK and Jerry but their similarities are obvious and emotion is up there on the list. It was disapointing not hearing JK sing the lead but again, his emotion out shined Bob's considerably and I thought JK helped pull it off to the point where I wasn't let down. Just an old farts opinion. Emotion means a lot to me.
Absolutely a smokin' show. The best I've seen (out of about 15) yet. Nothing whatsoever to complain about. I was lovin' it - start to finish - and you could tell the band was, too.
Not only was the instrumentals great during Black Peter, but the singing of the "chorus" was beautiful. Only Bobs solo singing STUNK!!!! Do you think he goes back and listens to his singing on this song and actually thinks its good. He butchers so many of the Jerry tunes but his abomination of Black Peter is in a class of its own. On a brighter note last nights show truly was wonderful. They found some very tasty places during Dark Star. Havent always enjoyed Furthur's take on Dark Star but last night was a goodin'.
> but the singing of the "chorus" was beautiful.
I think the backup singers really make this band - they are superb. I'd really like to here them use Sunshine for a lead vocal, or a verse - maybe playing the role of Peggy-O, for example.
I agree that except for Bobby's lead vocals the Black Peter smoked. I also think a Morning Dew would have fit in here perfectly, but not if Bobby sang it!!
Brokedown was always one of my favorite songs but with Bob singing it I am glad I didn't hear it. It hurts too much.
IMHO they need to bag Dark Star- it just drags on too long and bogs the show down badly. Just aren't that many people trippin' their alls off any more.
Loved this show, however, and so glad I made it.

This was an extremely solid show start to finish. Vibe in the lot was chill, positive and excited. Sunshiney afternoon, mellow and easy to get in to the show. The upbeat vibe jumped right on to the smoking Golden Road opener perfectly. First set, albeit kinda short, was primarily rock n' roll! Biodtl ripped, Bobby's fubs starting Promised Land were met with laughs and shrugs by crowd, band and even Bobby! Once it went, it smoked Chuck Berry style. Tons of Steel was when we realized the anniversary and when they put the picture of Brent up on the backdrop, those who knew stopped in their tracks and felt it and remembered!!! Very very special! Dark Hollow was super solid and gorgeous. TLEO was upbeat Phil version and the dance party continued through Train and Big RR blew the roof off. Set break was mellow, people chillin' and the vibe continued as the sun began to set. Strong Truckin opener where the band nailed the bombs. Smokestack was strong and bluesy. I Want You surprised and pleased me as I thought they nailed this tricky song. Very cool and turned the corner in the show from Rock N' Roll to more Grateful Dead psychedlic! The Dark Star, which I can usually take or leave, was drop dead on! Three deeeeep jams and both verses brought this show to a legit psychedelic zone! As they shared the verses, they all nailed them in their own solid styles. Killer deep jam in the middle and after the second verse brought a real intensity. Uncle Johns surprised me, started quite slow and brought everyone up from the DS depths to that smiling, giggin' happy Uncle John place. I thought Bobby nailed Black Peter with JK dead on supporting and sweeeeeeeet leads. I saw many tears. Gimmee Some Lovin' felt like another tribute to Brent and brought back the Rock n' Roll and continued in to GDTRFB which began slowly and very very groovy. They followed the groove and built it to a full on gig down fest! One of the highlights of the show was the next jam where they started playing Bid You, then stopped very quickly and dropped right in to Bid you verse. Unbelievably sweet! Possibly the most heartfelt Bid You I've heard in while. They dragged it out quite a bit and Bobby and John traded verses at the end way beyond the normal number of times around. Absolutely killer!! Lazy River surprised me as the encore and they nailed it once again and they sang and played just right! So sweet. This was a very strong show. Super Grateful Deadish with highs and mellows and meltdowns and rockin'! The subtle Railroad tribute to Brent was truly special!
Bird:
For the record, it looks like a juvenile American robin. I hate to think this animal has no identity in this forum. An awesome photo for us birder Deadheads on a special night....
I think the whole show was a tribute to Brent.Almost all the songs had something to do with "moving on".
Very fun time!
