Who's going? This will be a great show. See you Phreaks there. My first show of the tour. I love the south
I'm in.
Just a set away...I'll be watching Canandaiga's second set very closely. A couple of songs I am really hoping for on Thursday...been waiting many years for the St. Stephen...also Lost Sailor is one that has eluded me for a number of decades... precious reasons why I am waiting for both...either way it'll all be good on Thursday... to be there live.
Right there with ya Dave.
Black peter is out of the way
and no Dew.... yet.
Canadaigua first set looks great. Aside from the Dark Star, second set is not my cup of tea. Dave - good call on the Black Pete. Leaves a lot stuff open for Raliegh. We might see that St Stephen. Scarlet-Fire and Estimated are fair game too. I'm hoping for The Other One.
Be aware that Raleigh is going to be a hippie hostile environment... smaller venue right downtown next to the "Justice Center". There were tons of undercover narcs and lots of arrests at the Phish show in Raleigh a month ago... Word up....
It's gonna be hot tomorrow, 100 degrees.
Any one know why Bobby had to cancel some solo dates in August?
expect a Bird Song.. see Canandaiga thread for reaon why...
A Bird Song would be great, it's about due in the rotation as well.
Definately gonna be a smoker at this itty bitty venue downtown. Im calling a Here comes the sun opener, Scarlet Fire, Dancin in the streets, box of rain, maybe Terrapin. what you you freaky folks think they will play?
How 'bout an Alligator opener?!
Morning Dew
I'm feelin' that Dew. Alligator would be a first for me. Here Comes the Sun and Terrapin are probably out because they were just played in NJ two shows ago, but Scarlet Fire is due.
yeah, I cant do no Black Peter with Bob, Though the tons of Steel was kickASS!!!
alligator > caution > born cross eyed would really blow me away!
I was really feelin Lazy River Road yesterday and was surprised by the encore...Days Between now starting to creep in that way for me --premonition style.
An absolutely complete long shot that also crossed by mind is an out of the blue Keep On Growin (Old Derek and Dominoes song that Phil pulled off a couple times ages ago...) The show cant come fast enough ...my mind is spinning!
so many roads, Dew, or a Comes a time
Mississippi Half step opener Im feelin..
Phil on stage with the Allmans at Tune in to Hep C concert at the Beacon right now
Tune in to Hep C
any stream French Pickler?
Not that I'm aware of Josh
Did I really just type French Pickler. LMAO! Cosmic Charlie would be nice too!

My ride fell through so i have a ticket for tonight if anyone is interested. I can email it to you.
I DO NOT WANT TO EAT THIS ENTIRE TICKET
no reasonable offer refused.
Contact info in profile. hope to see you tomorrow in SC
Still holding a ticket. At this point i'll e-mail it to anyone who can print it and split what they can or can't get for it. How's that? No sense in nobody using it.
I think there is a 10:30 PM curfew. Anyone know for sure?
Anyone happen to know the artist for the official tour posters this year?

Is the venue packed....? I am sensing the band is not interested in the scarlet fire so much this tour...11th show and only 1 showing...thankfully I got the estimated>scarlet>fire in Mansfield. What si the scene like- cops? narcs? assholes?
Show looks nice butthey are sticking with easy chord progressions like G, D and E in songs like viola, otherone and dew...this signifies it is a hot night and they do not have the energy for complex songs like a new potato>borncross>scarlet>slipknot>fire> for example...

Solid Show by the looks of it.
Takin care of NC because of the change of venue.........nothin left for St Aug. except OMSN and Bobby can loop that for 3 hours......
Dude the tour has been hold out city and only bluesy bar tunes are being played due to the hit exhausting east coast summer. Tons left to hear: scarlet fire unbroken Tom thumbs box, hc sunshine, Stephen cream puff hsf again china cat rider again and estimated. This show looks like fun! I really think the heat is an issue. I'd love to see more JGB in the rotation.
This was the show I've been needing to see for a long time. It was remarkable.
>>>>>for complex songs like.....fire
2 chords.
That was a throttling. I could go on and on about how amazing the second set was. It was played as well as it looks. I'll just say that the Dew was unbelievable, and there was so much to follow (and precede).
First set was pretty great, too... perhaps better than it looks on paper. Wonderful venue. Hot and sweaty but nothing compared to Philly last Saturday as far as miserable conditions go.
YAY!!!
>>>Carolina on my mind
Me too...wish I could've been there.
This show was smoking hot! WoW! the energy level was totally intense... TOTALLY! Second set was just blistering! Viola seques were awesome... Cryptical>Other One>Cryptical transported me - where only God knows. The Morning Dew crescendo launched! I thought that was going to be the biggest jam of the night...but then Mountains of The Moon jam surpassed the Dew! --thought that was going to be the pinnacle ...but then the Let It Grow was just absolutely monumental! Sugar Mag - SSDD also smoked! Loved the Alligator opener and the fun first set too..just what I wanted! Of all the Grateful Dead shows in my life (70 or more??) this was an experience I never had before! This had the jams and seques I had only heard on earlier tapes. This show was outstanding...every player totally top notch...absolutely outstanding. What a blast! The scene was so cool...probably the easiest show I've ever been to...I'd do it this way every time. Easy in ..easy out...no hassles.
The smaller venue was tremendous..so intimate...band was so animated...I was totally blown away and amazed at what I just experienced. It's been a decade since I've seen the boys live...but "never been away dream!!!"
Tomorrow maybe I'll tell you what I really think!
Wow... by the looks and sounds of it this show seems to be a special one. Cannot wait to hear the Row Jimmy.
DMcG,,,,awesome review !! i can't wait to hear it, the energy level makes all the diff. Glad it was that good fer ya..... thanks for taking the time to let us peek in on tonight...lol !
Upstate NY is far away. couudn't make it south. Like I said, these dudes are not capable of a bad show. Just by the set list....Wow...Wish I was there. Sounds to be fairly incrdible!! Hey Gilmore is on VH1... anyway, chord progressions or not, they brought it again tonight after night after night.
Serious David Gilmore on the tube on VH1 Classic... night to all us fortunate folks. Stick around, my guess is thet're will be more to come. We are the choosen ones. You do know this by now. Peace.
...
Yes, it was really off the chain.... one of the best Furthur shows I've seen! Energy was really intense... everybody was lovin' it despite the heat. I can't wait to hear the playback from this one! SICK!!!
Sounds awesome. I love 'em in the smaller venues.. Feel a lot closer and connected, particularly small venues that are GA with chairs cleared in front of the stage. This one looks like a winner... And I love that pic of Phil
From the picture of the place it seems like it was small and intimate. How was security? Looks like there was a gentle slope so plenty of dancing must have occurred.
Freaks must have been very happy.
on chord progressions I mean that the slipknots, scarlet and transition into fire as well as songs like eyes and beattles covers as well as unbroken-not seen much this tour buit once. Basically my non critical observation is that they played songs which are relatively easy to play. The viola always rips it up as does the otherone.
Interesting setlist. Very "rootsy".
Yes, place was small and intimate. 2 wide, gently sloping aisles going to the stage, with 2 other aisles on the outside for vending and plumbing. I was on the right center aisle, which was medium-crowded most of the night... people still with enough room to dance. The cops/ushers came and cleared it out at Mountains and kept it clear after that. Overall, security was just enough to keep things from not getting clogged; friendly people down here, even The Law. (I didn't check out the lots scene though). Lots of dancing room everywhere, even seats had decent legroom. Great place! The behind-crowd backdrop of the shimmering water wall with a tree scene, was unique and beautiful and trippy(and huge). A couple long freight trains on Phil's side during the show added to ambiance.
The mesh fence surrounding the place made for a decent free show for those who didn't come inside, and there were Heads watching and dancing from roof of adjacent parking garage. As someone else said, very Easy show.

This is what the band got to look at while they were playing. Phil talked about it during the Rap
Next Time You See Me & Mtns of the Moon both had these incredible new arrangements that rocked! Jeff and John both got deeply psychedelic funkyness going on in those tunes, right from the get go.
Very very impressed. Listen to this second set- trust us!!
looks like a pretty good show to me
BRING ON MONTEREY BABY!!!!!!!!!
wow on paper it looks sick
I've had mixed feelings regarding Furthur. Before Raleigh, I saw Charlotte and Baltimore in 2010. Charlotte was pretty good, not great and Baltimore was a bore. After Baltimore, I decided I just wouldn't travel out of town for shows anymore. So I was happy when Raleigh was on their summer tour and I could give them another chance without travelling.
Last night, my faith was restored.
The first set was solid, but we were all waiting for the sun to set. The Alligator->Gloria opener looks great on paper, but it wasn't all that great in my opinion. Alligator was little sloppy at first and the sound was not clear yet. But it started getting good during the jam and then Bob gave the nod for Gloria. Gloria was good but to be honest it got a little monotonous. The rest of the set was trememdous with the exception of No More Do I. I got hit on an emotional level by Row Jimmy real hard. But Ramble on Rose and Bucket were both excellent, that's right bucket was excellent.
The second set was awesome start to finish. Great setlist and great playing the entire time. The sound was very nice for set II. I feel like a very lucky man. The Morning Dew was something very special and I feel honored to have been there for it. Right before they started Dew, my wife asked what I thought they'd do next. I said, there's been talk of Morning Dew being in the queue and then there it was. I was spellbound. I could go on gushing about the entire set, but I won't bore you any longer.
Dave Mc...your passion regarding this show both before and after have been inspiring. I'm very happy that you got the show you deserve. It was rare and special. The last time I felt this good about a post Jerry show was The Q, 4/20/01. It's been a long time coming.
tapers?
I guess its true that "absence makes the heart grow fonder..."
I would like to tell a sad story about the venue and the lack of care and professionalism exhibited...
so it was like hotter than hell out there the sun was beating down and it was like 100 degrees. within 30 minutes of being there and finding our spot we had a guy right next to us that was raging this mandolin along with the band as they played, he was having the time of his life, which shortly turned into the worse....Right as they started into ramble on rose or shirtless profusely sweating mandolin playing neighbor hit the deck hard. his arms tightened up by his side and he fell straight back rigid and stiff without movement. several fans that were close by started fanning and setting cold water bottles on his forhead and under his neck to try to cool him off while he was not gaining any consciousness or appearing to get better. I instantly rushed to the closest usher there and said "please come quick someone has collapsed back here and is not doing well, they need HELP FAST." and to my dismay this usher sauntered across the venue towards the incapacitated highly over drugged and heated fan. The lack of the ushers desire to get to the victim lead me to "ushering" him by the back of his shirt faster through the crowd. Needless to say this 250 lb african american male did not enjoy this and quickly told me so. i backed off and watched again in disbelief at how unimportant this person seemed to the entire staff there. I immediately found 2 other personal and told them to radio in EMT's immediately and they did so but nothing more than that. I sat around and waited for 10 or 15 minutes while several staff members of the venue stood around this lifeless rigid body and did nothing but call on radios and look utterly confused. I again could not sit there any longer while such a lack of care for this fans life occurred. i stormed to the vending area and main entrance of the amphitheater and before i could get there i ran into two EMTS walking casually through the crowd towards where the victim lay, i quickly approached them and informed them that this guy wasnt doing well and had been down and out for a long time now and he needed help fast. the two emts slowly followed after me. When i quickly left them in the dust because of their slower than tortoise pace, i only stormed back to tell him that this mans life might be on the line and he is sauntering to his aid and rescue him. I was done respecting them and being polite i got in the EMT's face and told him to fucking hurry up because this kid wasnt doing to hott and he might not make it. that did nothing to change the attitude or way that this less than qualified emts pace. Only had the 2 young 20 year old emts reach the body did they understand the severity of the situation. i did not see this body move. i did not see them try to sit him up, i did not see them testing his coordination, they stood over the motionless body for 10 more minutes then finally i see the first usher i approached walking yet again slowly with a background which they place the man on with no urgency and car him out with two police officers finally escorting them through the crowd.
I apologize to your poor fan that over heated. i wish the staff at the Raleigh Amphitheater had taken more of a care to your safety and life.
sorry for the negative thoughts just wanted to share....
What an amazing night otherwise!!
What does the ushers ethnicity have to do with anything?
it does not. just painting the picture of my self a 5'7 small scrawny person dragging this huge usher towards this person. sorry that that might have offended you
good looking out Furthurout, thanks for helping i see this kind of thing too much with show security and hate the idea that these folks getting a minimum wage often are making impact decisions at shows.
Its scarry when you think of all that can go wrong in a crowded venue with spun people and the heat,.....red Rocks still charges $4.00 for water with the free fountains at the top of the amph.
I am surprised to hear the EMT's responce was so lackluster those are the folks were counting on, makes me miss the old school WHITE BIRD days in the bay area, those folks couldn't do enough to help folks who fucked up.....
thanks for the info glad the show rocked!
I bet you wouldn't have cared if the usher was described as a "250 lb redneck". So fucking PC; can't we just talk w/o the thought police analyzing everything we mean?
And why are you WHITE Devil? Self loathing?
I agree Furthur out you are obviously a racist prick.
Hey if I pass out at a show will you help me!!!!!!!!!! That part I mean.
y'all need to chill the F out. Down here we say 'big black dude' and the big black dudes' got no problems being described that way. Jeebus not like the man used the N word.
That's an awful story. Guy very likely died or came close, haven't seen anything on the news.
> I agree Furthur out you are obviously a racist prick.
The fucking government asks you what race you are on every damn form they send you. They seem intent on reminding everybody about race issues.
Also, to describe someone in terms of their race is not automatically racist, although I would agree that throwing in the race image in that sentence above might be construed as racist.
>>>And why are you WHITE Devil? Self loathing?
Because that's what Boko called me. Pretty simple, actually. And no, I wasn't offended, just calling him out for a not-so-neccesary detail. That is all.
