Ok looks nice, see you folk in Atlanta tomorrow. Big Bob, I hope to see you there brother!
Lets have a live stream tomorrow night for the tour ender...
...
they should have a contest and let one of us choose the setlist I've been thinking ,,,love you all tomripple16
I really would have enjoyed hearing 7 Hills of Gold on this tour...I'm not joking either.
No Saturday night. Huh.
Wonderful show! The smallest venue on the tour, I believe, and eventually packed with appreciative fans, who were most engaged on He's Gone and Franklin's. Songs that had not been past favorites like Stagger Lee, Just a Little Light, and Celebration were positive surprises for me. The smooth, sing-along version of He’s Gone was great. No complaints about any band members, but Phil and John seemed to rise above the rest on this night. John is considerably more aggressive on both guitar and vocals, in my view. Phil did not appear to mind the heat one bit, and he did quite a bit of singing (and sounded great). I believe this was the only Colors of the Rain this tour and it gracefully melted into Help on the Way. Jamtastic UJB! The Brokedown did not scale any new heights, but it was a fine ending for an otherwise great show. Perhaps Bob was taking a bit of a rest and they might have been saving some of the favorites for the last show of the tour tonight, but it was well worth the drive down from Atlanta. St. Augustine is an interesting town and a great place to see Furthur at a small outdoor venue.
This was the best GD-related show I've seen since 1983.
We did have perfect seats, so the sound was wonderfully crisp and the band BRUNG IT in an enourmous way last night. Seemingly worn out songs (The Wheel, UJB, Help on the Way) were played so strongly and with such lovely vocalization, that this is a show that was WAY better than it looks on paper. The jam before "Just A Little Light" was truly all-world, and the "Slipknot" was completely off the chain.
The show was "old-school" in a couple ways- the crowd was a bit older than usual, however, but the band were feeding off an unmistakeably massive dose of energy from the crowd. "Shakedown" was unusually large and a great vibe in the lot. Blew away Tues. nights Canandaigua show, which I also hit. Fifth consecutive night on stage for Phil... the ageless wonder!
Simply outrageous. I guess everyones got a different perspective on any show, but theres mine, kidz. Surely worth checking out when it pops up on Archive.
God bless Phil and Bob and the Furthur pholks.
Low wook factor.
No OMSN
Hot and sticky
Phil looked and sounded FANTASTIC
Good times in St Augustine
thanks for the review earl shed-light - says a lot in a concise way - and mirrors my own feelings about the band
Yer' welcome, Grubster.
Dawned on me today that this show was just down the road from where Phil had his transplant. Could've been a "shot in the arm" for ol' Mr. Killowatt to steer these guys to MAX potential lalst night.
7/30/11 • St. Augustine Amphitheatre; St. Augustine, FL
Set 1: Jack Straw, Althea, Big Bad Blues, Stagger Lee, He's Gone, Just A Little Light > Celebration
Set 2: Cassidy, The Wheel > Mountain Song > Uncle Johns Band > So Many Roads > Colors Of The Rain, Help On The Way > Slipknot > Playin In The Band > Franklins Tower > Playin In The Band
Encore: Donor Rap, Brokedown Palace
Woah nelly! After a long drive from SC, I was tired but I still managed to:
1. Get myself inside early and nab a spot on the rail in the Phil Zone
2. Drink $12 double Single Barrels (could also have gotten Gentleman, but no regular Jack)
3. Score Levon Ramble tickets with Bobby (made my whole life)
4. Have a fantastic, amazing, beautiful show
5. Relax on white sand beach at hotel
The whole show was a highlight, and the band was in rare form, completely locked in. The Wheel through Colors of the Rain in particular was extremely impressive. My smile did not leave my face all night and only got wider and wider as it was clear that the stars were aligned (ain't it sweet when everything comes together?). The newish songs are only getting better, and Mountain Song took off. One thing's for sure, more shows on beaches are certainly in my future.
Grate show, the 2nd set was very jammed out! Had a grate time to be at the only show I could make! The venue was cool(the smallest of the tour, 3500 cap.) Good times!!!!!
A keeper:
