incredible set...awesome BOX! get ready for a doozey set II Viola Lee opener sandwich with Cryptical>TOO
awesome 1st set
That was a great set, start to finish. Lots of energy and very tight. The Box blew me away.
could somebody tell me if their stream skips out into ads? then i have to close and reopen the stream....i just missed one of my favorite song endingsss.......WTH...is there a way to stop the ads?
niarfoxob...it's $3.99 a month for no ads, according to the ads...
I agree, Mike, and I only heard part of it!
this last week was just a build up for this weekend....fasten your seatbelts!
the set, not the ads....
Some folks the other night were trying to negate the critics by saying that the stream just doesn't carry the x-factor. The set they just played blows that theory away. If the music is happening, it conveys.
amazing box to end strong set but less than 1 hour
sam L
If you are using Firefox or Google Chrome, install the Adblock plugin. No ads.
Short first set = long second set
> set II Viola Lee opener sandwich with Cryptical>TOO
Sounds good. Make that a 3 part VLB and maybe throw a New Potato Caboose in there too.
I sat down on the couch and turned on the stream right when bobby started saying "We'll be back in just a little bit", looks like a nice solid set. How was the energy in the crowd because for the past few nights everyone was texting on their cell phones most of the time
>Some folks the other night were trying to negate the critics by saying that the stream just doesn't carry "it". The set they just played blows that theory away. If the music is happening, it conveys.
Still - this set was no doubt more powerful in person in the Beacon. The whole crowd vibe and contact energy buzz enhances the feeling in the room, and that factor is missing on the stream. Same holds true for weaker shows, yes? The stream does miss part of the show.
I love the streams, I'm just sayin'!
Thank you Taper Rob!
gary, I'm not saying a stream is the same as being there, but it does seem to carry a good part of the goods. This music felt alive tonight; there wasn't a gap or a lull to be found. I wouldn't say that about what I listened to the last couple of nights, where the band seemed like a bunch of individual players, who periodically arrived at the same place for a minor crescendo or two. Tonight, was the living, breathing thing. That Box of Rain got seriously strange. Black t-shirt music at the Beacon tonight.
Would rather be there myself but the streams do convey a certain energy.
Probably less so on a slower night though. Last night had it's hot moments up front that probably did not come across on the stream.
just so you know...you can tell when there is an X factor or not in the stream...without a doubt..I hate to say it but it's THE MUSIC that transcends WITH the crowds help...but MUSIC first and that is either on or off, which you can tell from a stream.
"this last week was just a build up for this weekend....fasten your seatbelts!"
undoubtedly!
Much appreciated Taper Rob. Sounds great.
Hot moments that surely did not come across on the stream, you had to be there.
It sounds like we all agree!
Wishing I had a puddle for the second set...

Caught Monday's show, and countless shows at The Beacon...they are removed from front of stage is for security, quite simply...plus, such a stripped-down setup (no video, screens, etc.) makes The Beacon's stage look quite generously sized...same as any other band I've seen there...

easing us back out there with a little shufflin and some positivity. masterful. what a show. so many themes, darkness, madness, fantasy, love, loss, rambling, freedom...
That was well worth the price. Possibly the best I've heard from these guys.
Thank you Rob for a wonderful stream. Am grateful for all you've done on this run. Have a safe trip on your journey home.
Great Box and 2nd set. Only gotten to listen to parts of the last 2 shows and it didn't sound like this. Makes me understand once again, no matter the screwed up aspects of it, you got to go as often as you can because you never know when the muse is going to appear. The muse was there tonight!
Shiver me timbers, way to work boys

Holy snap that was a fine, fine show. The energy of the crowd and band was amazing. Dire wolf was insane. King Solomon even more insane. Jeff can play that piano in a way I've never heard before. Jk and Jeff play like a real unit now. Wow. Just wow.
I am reborn!!!!!!!
2nd set had some seriouslee intense jamming
top of my head blown off
Just got back from city. Sick show tonight. Bobby made up for last night. The band was on fire from beginning to end. Brown eye and box blew it up in the first set. Second set had really no low points but time to breath during death dont have mercy. Cant wait to be home for stream tomorrow wish i was going back. much love
What a difference a day makes!
Yay! Missed the stream, but will make sure to hear this one. ~when the music plays the band~ love it when that happens!!!
They should start selling tickets just for the 2nd set. Would love that option. The longer they're together, the less I'm interested in the 1st set junk store and more interested in what will drop the 2nd set. Say what you want about PL&F, but you knew you were going to get two jars of honey.
I was in row DD tonight I enjoyed how much they liked bringing it to us and those moments when even they were not in control, like the instruments were possessed and foreign...AWESOME!
Strong first set, very uptempo, ridiculous box jam and BE Woman.
First set was a bit under an hour, so I knew we where in store for a huge 2nd set and a Dark Star.
2nd set was about as good as it gets. Encores a little "meh", but left the show with a big smile on my face.
Security in the orchestra was a little challenging, but even the peeps I saw them catch they just gave a warning.
Two shows in the books for me with Sunday and Weds coming up.
Sam L.
As much as I'll take whatever they serve up and enjoy, it is the nights like these that transcend and set this band and music apart...the Dark Star>Caboose>Caution>Dark Star was unbelievable but then King Solomon's Marbles was about the craziest sickest most awesome I have ever heard since on the bus....i was at a family party and listening on the side so I can't wait to check out the archive to verify. Either way it was Friday the 13th crazy good and a very special night of music. I was so stunned after that segment, I literally had to take a break from it all during Death Don't Have No Mercy. Family
members just looking at me wondering what was going on.
Due to the family gathering I was in and out of the 1st set but was thrilled by the Dylan breakout and the Box was surreal!
Thanks Into Ashes.... Good idea
9:45 and no thread yet for tonight - I was here at 6:30 checking to see who the early-bird was and I guess it's me!

Thanks to all for a great evening last night at the Beacon. The crowd had great energy from before the show to the end. Wonderful, wonderful playing. JK was strong from the start and Mr. Lesh pushed and pushed - very impressive night by Mr. Lesh. Mr. Weir was really locked in - among his best work in while. JC and Rosso are just really, really good, every night. Huge grins after the show. Clearly they believed they needed to bring it every song - and they did. Last night they indeed went Furthur and we were blessed to be part of the ride.
Oh, the joy :-)
I arrived back at home about an hour ago, I spent three lovely nights at the Beacon :-)
I live in Boston, so I was at both of the Wang shows. Aside from exactly ONE of my pack, EVERYONE was blown away by the Friday Wang show. While I thought that there were *moments*, definitely, nothing really transported me all that anywhere (iykwim). At least not with any consistency. I found myself wondering if...? Could I have become one of *those* DHs??? Nah. Crazy talk.
Thursday night we were stuck under the balcony at the back of the floor. I swear, I think that the energy was all clogged up there. Still had a good show, t'was nice to be at the Beacon. Friday night, kinda hella balcony seats but we somehow ended up in the front row of the Loge, off to JKs side, with all this amazing dancing space. IT WAS GLORIOUS. I had my glowy ring and an awesome and amazing time. The energy was so there that night... Solid show. I had a great, great, great time and was so grateful to be a part of that. If anything, it was too short but aren't they all? And the Revolution? I am a sucker for a good cover and to me, that qualifies :-)
Don't take away my posting priviledges (LOL?), I don't know how relevant this all was... But I JUST got home. Reentry, as you know, can sometimes be challenging...
Where's the recordings of this show? It's eleven days after the fact and nothing up on the archive or torrents yet...
