Just once could SB not be followed by FOTM?
umm, no ...SB>FOTM has one of the best transitions EVER...that's is how it works..cheers.
REVIEWS??
TAPES????
Reviews please. I know your all probably on the road getting back to work and stuff but am so looking forward to your independent and non biased reviews. Sandiegohead, Felina, Lance, Moses, kindmomma and the rest of you. Safe travels!!!!
Love Scarlet->Fire..... I went to Thursdays show and it was just amazing, loads of fun, great sound, some minor vocal/jam miscues, but an AMAZING night of music. Cheers Chief
Thank you Phil, Jill, crew, and Q!!!!!
Sick show jimmy went off. First broken arrow in at least 6 or seven years! I thought Friday was the best but what do I know?
Great show last night! It was my only one so I can't compare to others.
Highlights for me were:
Passenger
Alabama Getaway! Holy Smokes! Jimmy tore this up!
Broken Arrow
Cold Rain and Snow - Great jam at the end
Playin' was good, one nice jam in there
Blue Sky - This song was great. High energy all throughout, tasty solos by Jimmy, Headband and Warren. A+
Scarlet -> Fire: Had the place rocking for sure.
Overall I had a blast and really enjoyed the show. This band can take it to incredible peaks, especially when Jimmy is taking lead, and go places no other band can. There are times when they noodle around and kind of bore me as every transition sounds like dark star. This is cool for a bit but sometimes could be too much.
Anyhow, it smoked and I was so glad I made the trip up for the show. Gotta get a copy of that Alabama Getaway!! WooHoo!!!
I wonder why they never play "Leave Me Out of This"
These days, FURTHUR often breaks up the classic Scarlet/Fire combo. Sometimes, China Cat/Rider, too.
>>>These days, FURTHUR often breaks up the classic Scarlet/Fire combo. Sometimes, China Cat/Rider, too.
That's only cause Bobby gets confused...;-)
and we listen to the music play................
I'm waiting for the day when we get blow-by-blow coverage of a typical Phil Lesh day.
Alarm went off at 7 am>>
Headed to the bathroom to take a dump.
Cup of coffee>>checked email.
Workout>>shower>>checked email again.
Light breakfast>>quickie with Jill>>another shower.
Etc, etc.
As for these shows, I find it interesting how much love Phil & Friends with Warren gets considering how much grief he took when playing with the Dead.
I guess it's a sign of the endless gushing over everything Phil does.
Don't get me wrong—I love Lesh. But the adulation and adoration he's received in the post-GD years seems excessive to me, as is the bashing that Weir takes. To me, simply put, both were integral, essential, and mostly equal members of the Grateful Dead (if I were to have to choose, I'd give the overall "significance" in the band nod to Weir due to his songwriting and singing duties).
well, not sure about all that....
... missing the point maybe...
For me personally, I love Phil now, I loved Phil in 1989 when I fist saw and heard him. There can never be "excessive" adoration for someone who can make you feel so good. And that's exactly what happened over the weekend (once again) Phil's mighty bass, beautiful vocals and massive positivity pumping so freely into our bodies. Just a beautiful thing. The only thing significant now is how we react and endure what we are given and if you don't enjoy the reaction of many .. then simply choose not to listen to the feedback. It's like what I always say about Bob, you like post GD Bob or you don't, there's really no in between, but there's never a need to criticize, these guys have heard enough criticism for 5 lifetimes. They're not listening to all that, and agreeably so, they shouldn't give a damn.
P & J - I personally thank you for all your hard work for opening up TXR and sharing your love for the music and respect for the phans, I feel very lucky to be apart of this time and space. Give the puppy a nice rub for me.
