Good question.

Bobby doing Days Between.......Ouch!
Get a PC and get cheaper hotel reservations to boot.
^^^ That's disappointing. And weird. I can't offer any help, I'm sorry to say.
Brent,
If it is a Ustream box that is black then just push play, otherwise I don't know.
Unfortunately, there is no play button evident. Fortunately, I am getting it on my iPhone. Thanks.

After 4 phish shows...YAWN! Bring ring me FUrTHER all night long!!!!
wow, looks like a good shoe. almost wish I'd stayed at TXR.....went for the sliders at 4pm, but had forgotten there was music planned. maybe a handful of folks were looking for tickets outside the restaurant when we went in, but that number had nearly tripled by 5:30'ish....
ENC? WAT THE TERRPIN?
Enc: Brokedown
I fell asleep again!!!
Nice. DB guest.
So, I've been listening to the stream this morning and it's alright. There's some nice playing going on here. I dig that Dickie's up there. He's up there with Weir and JK, but that's okay.
You know who should be up there instead of JK?
Larry Campbell. THEN this would thunder.
Seriously, you know it.
And it would be a little different.
Actually, it should be LC, Weir, and Sless.
LC, Sless, and Dickie would rage.
Bobby can turn down for that,
or go take a leak.
and no back-up singers because Joan is back.
^^^this
Well, I just heard it my head, so I'm happy.
Here's the Blue Sky..
OMG
one of my favorite furthur shows
1st half of 1st set
and entire 2nd set were raging good
what a treat to have dickey betts 10 feet away
i never knew that viola lee blues was written for him - just loved every minute with mr betts up there
very
special
happy
times
now that's what i'm talking about
looks like a sweet night !!!
would have been nice to have had Warren and Dicky up there together again.
First set was pretty smooth but perhaps uninspired playing with some good work through cumberland, Althea, CFJ and then the club owner cranked it up a notch with a terrific birdsong and they ripped through a snappy Deal set closer in GD 1980's fashion.
Second set was heavy instrumental and Mr Betts was clearly so pleased to be there. The band worked very very hard to support him fitting in and giving him tonnes of room he needed to blend in with a group he is not used to playing with.
Phil moved over to sing face to face with Bobby on a single mic so DB could stay in Phil's spot comfortably and not linger at the end of the stage.
Betts clearly enjoyed being there and was trading licks with JK on a classic expanded Viola Lee blues, Noah Lewis' jugband blues tune the Dead adopted (along with BigRR blues and Minglewood).
BlueSky was strong, fun and real treat for the audience, Betts was in OK voice, but clearly some hard living has taken its toll on the man.
But he moved around the stage and again, seemed to revel in the glory of Phils place..(interacting with the band and audience when on stage and sitting back stage through remainder of show with his posse and coming up for the ending bow and hug fest)
The second set was long on instrumental jamming with lots of good slide work by bobby and Jeff really working the key on both piano/organ - he's adds so much IMHO. Phil of course was solid all the way through and was thrilled to have Dickey add to the "this could happen here at TXR anytime" motto(Phil with his cute little venue promoter hat on....)
Not to bash Bobby who is a fantastic guitarist and all around good guy, and played some really awesome slide last night, but his song selection and delivery on BBB and Days between fell completely flat, with Days being almost painful to get through after a raging VLB>BlueSky>VLB. (not to mention the typical lyric brain freezes and slower tempo than other PL&F configurations)
Over all a fun show, with a great treat in the second set...
I agree....I miss those ABB days. In 2002 in Atlanta I saw a triple bill of Great Southern, Ratdog and Phil n Friends. Remember that tour? Dickey came out and did Blue Sky with the Q! Awesome! Afraid that's the last time I'll ever see Warren and Dickey together.
>>>>>>>>and played some really awesome slide last night, but his song selection and delivery on BBB and Days between fell completely flat, with Days being almost painful to get through after a raging VLB>BlueSky>VLB. ouch, for $150?
no encore?
terrapin station or terrapin suite?
did they fit jeffs grand into the room? (im thinking no...)
Johnny D I listened to most of the show and really thought the Viola thru Blue sky was high energy but a little crowded. But Bobby singing Catfish John, and then when we got to Days I had to turn it off. Sorry to have missed Terrapin. They sounded ok but not a four hour drive and 150 good. Still think they were better 09>10 one of the few bands that did not get better over time, only in my opinion that is, I don't tell Furthur lovers that they don't know music just that I don't like most of it.
encore = Brokedown
Suite I believe
oh catch, get over it already. Don't go or listen or complain if ya don't like it. That's what I do with Warren Haynes shows and it works out great!
>>>>>>>>>>>and played some really awesome slide last night, but his song selection and delivery on BBB and Days between fell completely flat, with Days being almost painful to get through after a raging VLB>BlueSky>VLB. <<<<<
With all due respect, yer F'ing HIGH! I thought the Days was awesome, perhaps oddly placed, but the drama and tension they build with that tune these days is impressive. ;)
OK, now that that's over with...
When's the next Phil bar show!!!!
As I said in the other link harry you opinion doesn't mean shit to me or catch .how about your world famous shitty business ethics. we could fill a whole blog about that alone
When they went into Days Between I really wanted JK to sing it he really nailed it the 1 time I saw him sing it 3/25/12 but I do have to give it up to Bobby...He did a great job. The song looks like it has a lot of meaning to him and he really put his heart and soul into it...I enjoyed the show a lot...The Blue Sky was very spacey and did not have the traditional instrumental start they spaced into it and Dickey started singing...The Caution was KILLER!!! Dickey's geetar playing was a lot better then his singing but thats "The high Cost of Low Living"
Something special about seeing Terrapin at TXR that I like as well and last nights was really Suite!!!!
i love hearing weir sing days between. dont like him on many other jerry songs, but man, jerry musta handed him the song on a silver platter from the heavens. it fits his style of singing PERFECTLY...the first time(live or recorded) i heard ALOT of classic dead tunes was with weir on vocals...the first sugaree, help on the way, ripple, brokedown, and plenty more...id never heard a lick of GD before my first 3 shows...and i could always tell bobby was taking vocals on songs that were not written for him to sing...but until i looked it up(i never listen to GD past 90 so DB never came up for me till i saw weir play it live), i just thought days between was a bobby tune...fits him like a glove IMO
glad you liked Days Paul, it just didn't work for me, particularly at that point in the show...but to each his own...although I noticed it put old Skudebro to sleep...literally ;)

just reading/listening now.
Could only afford 1 furthur; and I was @ Thur. ...ya roll the dice...
Last nite I was at Brick+Mortar, SF for New Monsoon w/ Tim Carbone. Fine bar show, $18 incl poster+download, many phriends there.
Spoke to a handful that caught all of Dickie @ Marin Fair; then came down to see New Monsoon, missing like 1 song ..Which I realized I shoulda-coulda done.. oh well.
Then I drop in here this a.m. to see Dickie shows up for Set2 Furthur, which was heavily predicted, bust still a cool treat!
So ... will I get any special guests for Los Lobos at Fair tonight? Prob not. But it's heavy fog/drizzle in SF now; and there will be nice sun warmth in Marin. and that'll make a fine wrap for the weekend.
Nice to have the stream next day to listen to what I missed! thanks for that, and thx formerlybret for review as I listen to Dickie and the boyz.
>>> With all due respect, yer F'ing HIGH! I thought the Days was awesome<<<
^This. Of all the Jerry ballads Bobby does, he owns this one. Have thought so since the Gorge in '09. Last night was probably my favorite he's ever done. The band was super dynamic too. I think this tune means a lot to Bobby, and as far as I could tell standing right in front of him, he nailed the lyrics.
ballad?
Joe Russo = MVP last night. Special mention to Jeff Chementi. Their jams together during Estimated, Birdsong and Cumberland were especially inspired. Russo's work on Terrapin Suite just blows me away every time. Loved the keyboard intro - encouraged by Phil - by Jeff to start Days Between. Days only felt like a downer after the ripping Dickey Betts jam but frankly a break was welcome. Taking into account the musical excellence and the star power of a an Original ABB member guest this was a top three TXR show for me.
Personally I've never much liked Days Between no matter who was or is singing it, but I do agree that Bob does a surprisingly good job with it and that he seems to fit into it personally, for whatever reason.
But mostly it's always been a walk-about or piss break song for me, which is good because it's long and I do like the ending and I can always get back in time for that.
agree with Jahk2...Russo was a monster on terrapin and strong throughout.
Question for the musicians out there: I thought I saw bobby playing slide with the bottleneck on his right hand for a spell...was I just F'in high as Paul reports or is this a technique he improvises?
I had the best time at these shows and am still exhausted from four days of dancing! I concur with the above comments on Joe Russo and Jeff C - they both dug in hard for this run and their playing was stellar. Bob was not tired during these four shows and it makes a huge difference imho. Living right in San Rafael I have been lucky enough to see the different line-ups that have come through and I've really enjoyed them, but I realized I have been missing the Furthur sound that we heard during this run. I hope they play this well on the east coast!
>>>ballad?<<<
Yes. And in the late 2nd set ballad spot too.
>>Question for the musicians out there: I thought I saw bobby playing slide with the bottleneck on his right hand for a spell...was I just F'in high as Paul reports or is this a technique he improvises?<<<
I saw him hitting the strings with the slide in his pic hand during Althea I believe.
Ok, thanks doobious, so not that high after all
