Hey Michael, Yes, he can fill/phil it at all levels. To me the difference between JK and all the others is that he has the heart chakra that Jerry embodied. Everyone else is great, but that's the difference. If you get to check out the jam out of Crazy Fingers from the Crossroads last week, it's one of those great moments.

Also, if anyone has a recording of the Sugaree from the Rex Benefit in December, please let me know. That's when JK let everyone know what he can do.

Here's my .02 on the show....after attending 50+ dead shows in the 80s era I feel i have credentials to review this...
First the negative...Bobby slows all the songs he can down, why I have no idea...but I dislike the slow jazzy approach to the grateful dead...btw I assume its bobby because Phil does not do this with the phil & friends bands...further doing them slow lacks the energy that the gd had and therefore in my opinion the music suffers as a result...listen to any 2001 P & F show for proof...

Postive....it was great to see the band again, scarlet>Eyes was tremendous...just simply amazing piano Jeff...all in all a great show with a good vibe..went with my crew from the 80s...cant really beat good music with good friends...its not the Grateful dead or even phils band but, its fun..Jeff...play the B-3 on touch...please..and Bobby shave off the beard..maybe give yourself a little youth and energy....thanks for playing and letting me remember why i loved this music so much...7 out of 10..is the review...thanks

Hey Billy, Most of the time it's Bobby's doing on the pace, but several times I was up close and it seemed that Joe was lagging.

Had a great time at this show. The band was really good. The first set took awhile to get going but really took off in the later part of the set. I think every jam in the second set was really well played. This band plays really well together. All that said post Garcia shows are still a little bittersweet for me, for someone I didn't know I miss the shit outta that guy!
