Don't know what browser you are using, but get adblock plus to get rid of those adds, it is free.
Where's slipknot going? Bet they go back to Franklin's Tower at the end of the show but not now.
Boy oh boy they like proving me wrong... lol
frankies tower who knew
im calling terrapin 2nd set
Terrapin, Dew, Eyes? All possibilities I think.
Gianna,
No Hate, just personal preference to keep things moving. Rose, loser & wharf rat slowed down the forward momentum. Much love to you. Enjoy what you love!
Haha thats funny cause I love Wharf Rat too but they never play it when I go to a show! I understand different tastes and favs. for everyone... much love to you too!!
we wiil back in just a lil bit
That was a fun set. Nothing jumped out at me as extraordinary, but it was fun. And always nice to listen on such a crisp stream!
loved the first set...and the quality stream compliments of taperrob is awesome...ramble on rose is always a great sing a long and so well played..not sure how anyone can disagree with that....help slip franklin kicked ass as usual but not long enough...black throated wind is always a treat...enjoy the second set eveyone
the energy is pretty lame especialy the crowd COME ON PEOPLE REMEMBER THE BAND FEEDS OFF U ALL
>>>>>>Cold Rain & Snow opener..nice call by the way Sailor
Of the first 20 GD shows I saw Cold Rain and Snow opened 6 of them including my first. So I've developed a nose for such a thing. The 80% chance for heavy rain was a bit of a give away as well. But thanks for the props.
Nice solid first set. Like they are mixing in things like Two Djinn...
who can post set list (please)?
I believe I have this right: Cold Rain, Two Djinn, They Love Each Other, Black Throated Wind, Ramble on Rose, Help on the Way, Slipknot, Franklins...
RAIN AND SNOW TWO DIJJN BLACK THROATED WIND RAMBLE ON ROSE HELP SLIP FRANKLINS TOWER

Yes, Terrapin, and they're in a nice jam now, one that could literally go anywhere...
What the heck; I will hazard a guess; Either Samson or Watchtower into Eyes after this...
sampson is due gd call
estimated prophet wow ok
Estimated, it is....then Eyes? Old School!
see u never know with these boys freakin adds
could be or could step it up with a sampson
Did anyone catch what Bob said as they transitioned into Estimated? I could not decipher.
Nice groove!
He said "a little to democratic"
i was wondering what bob said myself
and what does that comment from bob mean?
hi folks THANK YOU tapper rob,, souns great here in France!!sweet estimated
8-31-85 Terrapin opens second set. Has this happened more frequently than I am aware?
That was just Bobby being Bobby ;)
wheee! my lightning too now!
supplication very very VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!
"too democratic" could have meant that the group was moving in different directions with the jam and he centered it by going into Estimated right at that point...Supplication now. Wow. As for Terrapin set openers, rare but they happen. Saw Ratdog open the show with Terrapin in Albany a few years back, first time they did Days Between. A terrific show!
Think he said, "little d Democratic."
First Lazy Lightening?
Okay... occasional lurker here, never signed up for an account. But as I was listening to Bob saying "a little too democratic"... I mean, literally, within two or three seconds... I was reading the NY Times Sunday Review section and came across this comic strip: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/07/08/opinio n/sunday/the-strip.html#1
See the line in the first panel. I had to sign up for an account and share this experience. (And find a link for the strip.) These guys find a new way to blow my mind every day!
Oh hey, Supplication. Neat.
DID FURTHER EVER DO SUPPLICATION/
Bunch of times.... But never Lazy Lightening!
AND HERE WE HAVE IT EYES!!!!!!!
thank u village

Nice call jcheese
the season of "What now?"
ONE SO FAR AND MY FAV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonder who will water all the children of the garden
When they sigh about the barren lack of rain and
Droop so hungry neath the sky.
Four men tracking down the great white sperm whale,
Three girls waiting in a foreign dominion
Riding in the whalebelly, fade away in moonlight,
Sink beneath the waters to the coral sands below.
The very first time the Dead played Terrapin Station was at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, CA on 2/26/77, and the opened the show with it!

They also debuted Estimated Prophet and played Dancing in the Streets and Samson & Delilah which are also on the album.

FEEDBACK
Yeaah, gone through a rough patch, might be back. Just grateful to be able to hear any furthur live for free. ... I'll wait it out a few minutes and see if it comes back.. otherwise been a good show thus far. Thanks Rob as always.
...left drowning mid-stream! It was very nice while it lasted though. I really liked the transition into Eyes, and everything after it has been blazing. Sad to lose the ending, but it has been fun. Thanks for sharing TR!

Damn, you have to love technology! Back in the old days we used to wait weeks for a cassette of a show. (and a crappy 4th generation at that!) Present day I can come home at 2am after a brutal night at work and can re-balance myself by listening to tonight's show... I love you TR! Even though it isn't live I can still feel the energy of my beautiful brothers ans sisters... Life is good...
just got home...wowwwwww!!!!
Amazing !! Over a hundred posts here, and no reviews. Just one repost of Box 'O Eyes' setlist.
I'd prefer to see the posts from the folks that attended and have a Review.
That's just me, though.
It did not suck.
I can't do a song by song, but they were on it tonight. CRS good opener, 2 Djinn was sharp, BTW nice rendition, sweet Sugaree, I was suprised a bit by Help, Slip, Frank- and felt halfway cheated cause I wanted the 11 like last year.
A nice leisurely half-time. The standard hour that us old timers can appreciate.
The second set was one for the ages. Beautiful top to bottom. We were privileged to see what we saw tonight. These guys are good.
Here's one for discussion. What live act out there is as good as these guys?
Peace,
Kevin
Sorry, not Sugaree, but a smokin' Ramble On. I also forgot the TLEO, which was well done. As you should be able tell I am as well.Oh yeah, they hooked me up with that 11 after all.
Really fun show tonight with a nice Cold Rain and Snow opener. They closed out the 1st set with a stellar Help/Slip/Franklin. The 2nd set was a real treat for me. Terrapin,Estimated,Other One, Supplication, and Eyes of the World. As for the venue I would like to call it the Deer Creek of the East. I felt so at home and comfortable like I'd been there before. Only slight bummer was some kid freaking out in front of first aid with cops holding him down and honestly they were being gentle as possible because he was spun hard. Guess you still can't eat the brown acid in that neck of the woods. I would like to add that the crowd was outstanding and they all deserve the love and respect. Outside there was a decent Shakedown going in the lot as I easily acquired my Sierra Nevada,Felafel, and Balloon. My buddy did very well selling his home made hot sauce. It was a banner night with the boys. Also I finally got to stand on the Hallowed grounds were the greatest music festival in history went down.
2 "first time" ers...
splitting the Terrapin suite (bout time they mixed this one up)
supplication W/ lyrics (still waitin on that LL, though)
my take is as follows killer 1st set which i hardly ever say...only had 2 beefs....i thought 2nd set was just somewhat strungout at points...definately could have squeezed a dew or wharf rat at the end there....beef # 2 and im going to catch some grief on this one....we had six seats in the 7th section 1 dead center and this fucking asshole in front of me decided he was going to tape the show and attached basically a huge pole with a huge microphone on it to his seat...now we were with a bunch of girls and everyone is singing and talking and this douche decides im being too loud and on top of that he was a fat fuck with a hairy back and no shirt and basically looked like a sweating troll..well he decides that im a douche and all the people im with assholes because im going to ruin his tape....now im all for taping but there is usually a tapers section where tapers can do their thing and make their own rules but when you plunk down 900$ for six seats and were all having good clean fun im not going to be told to settle down in my seat like im in timoeout...i was in my space that i paid for ....noone else was complaining about us and he didnt mind hitting off my friends killer smokes....i told him if he didnt mind ruining my show that i didnt mind ruining his tape and obviously he didnt like it...it was kind of like the asshole at a football game holding up a banner right in front of you....again im all for taping and i offered to even buy the guy the disc if he would take his satelite dish down and of course he refused and then he went into some diatribe about it being his right and that there was no taper section which was bullshit cause when i turned around and pointed to 20 mics all together about half way back he just shook his head and called me a dick...anyway great show ..highlights were btw and ramble ..eyes terrapin...sotm...help-slip franklins....great place except when your down front they make you walk all the way around...i compare the place to pnc
Anyone has the right to expect courtesy at a show, particularly from chatty/singy people. I pay money to hear the band, not the people behind me.
The other side is that FOB tapers (and I'm one on occasion) shouldn't have any expectation of complete silence. You definitely tape at your own risk if you are up front.
thats all i was saying...i seriously doubt i fucked up the guys tape...we were all surrounded by everybody singing....he was bumming when 15,000 people yelled terrapin 5x
"..i was in my space that i paid for ...."
Words to live by. Good for you.
"You definitely tape at your own risk if you are up front."
Yes you do, and you have no place to complain if you try and bend the rules and things don't work out for you. I appreciate a good FOB as much as the next guy (although at out door shows the sound in back by the tapers section is often very good), but the tapers section was created to avoid this type of problem and while you're free to try and work around it you can't impose tapers section rules on folks that paid good money for their own seat.
Getting along at shows is an art.
Remember The Whistler?
Saturday at Coney I sat across the aisle from The Clapper. Every 15 second or so a solid thwack, and I do mean solid.
No question in my mind on the taping issue: People are there to have a good time. Dude paid good cash for primo seats far away from the tapers.
Dude rules!
I toughed it out. No need to be so sensitive. Put a piece of cotton in my left ear when it got a little much. Could have moved up 2 rows as well, in this case, as it was GA.
Definitely nowhere near as bad as the earsplitting whistler at the Beacon 2003 run for PLF. He ended up in a fight with somebody.
As for the show:
Stellar version of Ramble on Rose. It was one of my favorites back in 1980 when Europe 72 was the only album I owned. I eventually grew tired of it, but really enjoyed it last night. And, no question, a real singalong. "Take you to the leader of the band" drew mad applause both times.
Nice vocal tradeoff between JK and Bob on this one too (I think it was this one; maybe a different tune).
HSF was awesome. Really capped a primo first set. Missing a good Dylan tune though, such as Queen Jane or Memphis or Desolation Row; no more Masterpiece, thank you very much!)
I wasn't expecting the Terrapin, as it was played on Tuesday. A fine version though, and the split was well-done.
Estimated - LS - Eyes was cool. I enjoyed Estimated a lot more than usual, and I was really looking forward to the Eyes, so I'm sure glad it showed up.
The Eleven, as always, well-executed and well-received. Everybody got a little excited as it started to emerge from Eyes.
Final note: Jeff was on fire, especially during his Franklin's jam on the Hammond and the first Eyes jam on piano. At the end of the Eyes jam, he was laughing hysterically, almost cackling like a mad scientist, and they showed him up on the big screens laughing his head off. The audience roared approval at the end of both of these jams.
The rain really didn't hammer us after the intial walk to the venue, and the place is magnificent. Great crowd for a Sunday night too, probably close to capacity.
That settles it: I'm heading to the Vibes!!!
Gratefulbill:
You guys should have shouted "Like a Virgin" at every opportunity you had and as directly into his mic's as possible. Tapers not in the taping section and complaining about others not accommodating THEM are a real hassle w/ their freakin gear and anal attitudes -- shoulda blown smoke in his eyes at every opportunity as well not to mention the occasional flying ember onto his hairy back.
Tapers -- stay in your freakin' pen and quit complaining and acting like your God's gift to "memorializing" the immemorial - the music happens only once. Tapes/recordings while fun to go back andlisten to ain't what its all about . . . and if you don't get that point, meditate on it for as long as it takes for you to get it!
Sycamore, I agree. What I do now for reviews is wait till mid day the day after, scroll to the bottom and work back. What is needed is a section for streamers, since it is an important thing for folks now. As for tapers outside the taper area, all bets are off. If all the downloads, streams, etc are not the thing. Then buy tickets for the taper section or move to it. If it were me,and I was being hastled by an out of place taper.......ooops, sorry my drink spilled all over your gear.....here let me dry it off......
Taperrob, Bill Goldberg...THANK YOU!
http://archive.org/details/furthur2012-07-15
Bobby, "I don't take no crap" right before estimated...
Phil did a Pete Townsend like arm jam down into Franklins...
Phil During jam into Eyes...
Yelling "LET ME DO IT!"
JK had some gear issues in the second...
Bobby pissed when they missed the end of Samson...
Show sounded great, some really nice parts...But I couldn't tell if there was fighting for control or playful antics...
Phil was somewhat at a loss for words during his donor speech...
Phil hung out on stage checking all his gear...
Strange...
I think that this was the best Furthur show I've ever seen. It was beautiful, start to finish. Way to end off my weekend in NY!
Thanks for playing, as always! <3
Big smiles :-D
Russo and Chimenti are the gas in this band's engine. The second set cooked from out of the gate. Soaked on the lawn but it was so worth it. Bethel Woods really is the nicest venue on the NE. Glad I live close enough to Bethel! The energy was both ways - I just love this band!
im glad my fellow zoners stuck up for me especially when i thought i would get creamed...crazy otto and tom thumb thank you....no doubt that if you want to stream or tape there should a place for you that you know about up front where you can go and work your magic if you so desire but not at the cost of 2000 people in the first 25 rows...i plunked down my money expecting to not be harassed by anybody...and im a good guy ...always bring plenty of smoke and share up front with everybody...but telling 3 extremely hot girls not to sing and dance and have a good time because your too fucking cheap to pay 14.99 for the disc soundboard no less is totally 1000% unacceptable...i hope the douche who did this reads this cause next time i am going to do what was suggested...sawmill hahahahaha st .stephen..play it lolololololo...anyway we had a great fucking time without this pricks attitude and satellite dish...and just for shits and giggles ...what kind of douche sits in the 6th row dead center and audio tapes the show? ...when i tell you this fucking loser had a clear view ,unobstructed ...he could have made the killer video...there were no trees in front of us ...im 6ft tall and had a totally clear view except for the satellite dish to the band...he should have a made a video and i would have paid for the disc and he could have synched it up and we could all watch and hear it if thats what his intention was...what a fucling loser...anyway great show and i agree best show ive been to in awhile
I was at the red rocks show last year when they did the supplication- they're teasing it again. They know it is the last real "grateful dead" gem left to bust out!!! I just want to be there when they do it! I love Lazy Lightning!!
I would love to hear Phil belt out a "only time i now" Ive only heard one version ever and i believe it is studio
no dude, this supplication had lyrics. no lazy lightning, but definately a full supplication. (not a tease like red rocks 2011)
as far as teases go, this one was teased during the uncle johns band back at coney island in 2010...so theyve been teasing it for a while now. this one is the only one with lyrics so far
hey reddy,
i'm at a loss of words at your perception of what went down...
clearly bob said "a little too democratic" after the crowd seemed stunned that they weren't finishing the terrapin, like they had been doing. seemed like he was addressing the crowd's response to what obviously was a pre-planned, democratic decision(between band members), to split up the terrapin...which is indicated by the posted 'printed setlist' the band released after the show.
but bob is known for his outbursts during jams/sets
anyone remember the old 'like a swiss watch' bit he would do? i think he may have done it at that joliet show in 03, too.
i wouldn't read too far into it. obviously in chicago at the next show you could see they were all smiles and everyone having a good time on stage. feeling very comfortable with one another...or so it seems to me.
the only weird moment I really noticed was when they started playing Blues for Allah then suddenly we were 'back in terrapin again' for the close of the set. there wouldn't have been time for them to do it justice anyway.
perfect song for red rocks though. maybe they will play both like they did in indy last fall
i
For what it's worth Bob actually said "I'm going to take another crack at it" after missing his mark at the beginning of Estimated
recently listened to this one and bob definately said "a little too democratic"...
and where i thought there was a Blues for Allah intro, was actually, indeed, just the terrapin flyer coming back...with no B4A quote whatsoever. they actually nailed this.
the supplication was very good
very jammy edgy well played throughout imo
