This was an amazing show. It was a trip to see Stanley, long hair, dress-like shirt, he's a changed man. But he was a seamless integration into the band. A bit foreign with all the country tunes in the first set, but he for the most part followed along just fine, definitely in the jams if not over the verses.

His tapping is so dense, it added a syncopation to the beat that was tough to decipher but made for an fantastic percussive groove with the band. And when he cut loose it was on fire. Definitely awesome.

St Stephen is missing from that setlist, but I can't remember where it fit in during the second set.

Wow! What an amazing looking show! Did they play the entire Stairway to Heaven or just part?
What is SJ Jam?
Thanks!

SJ Jam = Stanley Jordan Jam

Saint Stephen was after Eyes of the World.

2nd set was well over two hours!

Gotta love Phil for introducing players like Scoffield and now Jordan into the mix. As an avid Jazz enthusiast/performer it makes me beam with pride that the genres of Jazz and Rock are being melded with such grace and passion; first Mile's and his 'Bitches Brew' gang opened up for the boys in the 1970 era heyday...and now this;eat it up kiddies, Rock and Roll may put bread on the table; but Jazz will feed your soul!!

wasn't there a St. Stephen played in the 2nd set? i'm pretty sure it was after Eyes, but i don't see it on any of the set lists.

>>>Wow! What an amazing looking show! Did they play the entire Stairway to Heaven or just part? <<<

The whole thing, Starkdar.

I honestly didn't think they'd be playing the whole thing, but I clearly don't (didn't) know much about Stanley's repertoire. Honestly, I'm still a bit in shock that Phil played the entire song, as it was certainly a happening I may never see again in my lifetime. Pretty wild, and I really look forward to hearing a recording of this (and the entire show). Doesn't look like anything's up on LMA, but I can only hope something surfaces.

Hey all,
I've seen many shows over the years, was lucky enough to be second row center that night, and must share that this was an AMAZING show. Stanley Jordan was well rehearsed and added so much to many of these songs. He also brought his versions to both nights, check out his greatest hits album and you'll see some familiar names. His Jazz style, playing up and down the fret, were a delight to watch and hear. He singlehandedly carried the Pride of Cucamonga Jam with a wicked blues like interpretation. The Help>Slip>Franklins also brought really fun sounds from his guitar, echoing Jerry riffs some times and completely fresh sounding interpretations at others. Second set got way out there, Playin' was 20 minutes and the instrumental Eleanor Rigby was a great fit. The Eyes had great guitar solos from all involved, and the St. Stephan was right on. Dark Star was a fine vehicle to showcase Stanley again, but the Stairway to Heaven blew the roof off the place. John actually kicked it off with power cords and great singing, and Stanley just owned the Jam, Phil grinning ear to ear the entire time. Watchtower also served as an ideal launching pad for Stanley, and the Brown Eyed Women had an extended Jam before the old man himself was gettin' on to wind down the night...Oh, and by the way, John (I am a huge fan, nothing "fake" here) was in great form as always, pushing and being pushed by Stanley all night long. Neil Casal's voice was a welcome fit and his guitar playing a nice blend of rhythm and lead. Joe Russo is just a monster, always. Adam Macdougal had a few solos and really added a lot of color with psychadelic effects throughout. Last Phil was clearly in heaven, as he must be so many of these nights. Eyes closed at times, smiles as wide as can be, and playing for 2 hours and 15 minutes in the second set. I have seen other nights on Archive, hoping this is posted soon. Thanks Phil for Terrapin Crossroads, and continuing to push the music furthur...can't wait to come back!

Does anybody know where I can get a recording of this show?
