Well done, Warf Rat!
I arrived at the end of Sugaree, but still caught an hour of great music. This show felt special to me, with some heart-felt singing on a few tunes that I had not heard before.
As one fine Zoner stated: there were some gems tonight.
Oh Sweet Carolina was especially beautiful, with a nice transition into The Wheel. Wharf Rat was very good and I noticed that Phil's bass was especially strong and penetrating (I still marvel that we can experience this for free). I usually don't get into Stagger Lee, but I really enjoyed this one. Rivers and Roads was a beautifully sung slow folk tune, pondering the passage of time (at least I pondered this). The beginning of One Empty Rose had a slight IKYR feel to it and it maintained a nice peppy pace. And that energy fueled a great Scarlet Begonias.
Good stuff.
Thanks Skudebro. It was a great show. There were definitely some gems in there last night.
Great show! To me, the best Phil & Sons show I've seen, and I've seen a bunch now. The first gem was Jack Straw, really well done. Possibly a Phil & Sons breakout?
looks like a solid setlist. Tom Dooley and Sweet Carolina... nice!
looks good!
