Cold Rain & Snow show tonight!
I just called my hotel in east orange NJ and they are without power. call your hotels if you're traveling in from afar like us. this ain't no joke
Hey we got a hotel in residence inn by Marriott in parssipany NJ you might want to call them
Lot of people in Montclair don't have electricity but they are on the north end of town, theater more to the south so should be good there (assuming Phil does not totally let loose and drains the grid lol).

Nice set ender! Thanks Rob! See ya in Port Chester.
So this is Furthur, exdept Jackie instead of Bob - and no backup singers... I love Furthur. Jackie's voice seems a bit turned down in the mix compared to Bob's voice. This lineup sounds really good. I'm not really missing Bob. Jeff and Sunshine though do add a fuller sound.

Chris V and whoever else is interested-Parking garage-2? blks away was $6(nice option in snowstorm) Security was disinterested(mebbe the cold) and mellow(read hands off)-at door. Band went on @ 8:30 could have been weather related-No Shakedown scene that I saw(it was snowing) and there are plenty of bars inside-food selection limited pretzels/popcorn/candy. Floor was not crowded-that said I would say make your way in by 7:30 and get the lay of the land
PS-Show was great sound was fine, I am an avid Bobby fan and did not miss him much-this lineup packs a punch!
Looks amazing on paper. Anyone have time to post some sort of review?
Anyone have a cheap single for tonight, can be anywere in building.. please only text me or call me 862-202-4088... lost my job and with the Hurricane and Nor'easter could use some good music.. ill be online all day looking for employment.. but text or call only. Thank You and have a Grateful Day.I am close to theatre..
Chris Volrath, there are bars and food in Theatre, there is no real lounge area.. u can Park on Park St, for free.. By Just Jakes, good bar and restaurant with cheap drinks.. security can be a pain, from what i hear last night was fine.. maybe there are just letting people have fun now.. small place.. have fun.
Thank Everyone for the advice! Hope to see Ya There!
Nice show; great musical conversations
Loved the flow w/I slipknot! -> golden road and into TOO
Yowsa
Peace
thanks TaperRob! Very Grateful for you!!!
Excellent show last night. Extremely mellow scene, plenty of room on the floor, nonexistent security (from what I experienced). Wake of the Flood set was a nice nod to the crowd if not a bit corny. (I am on the record as saying the Red Rocks Steal Your Face thing was an affront; this album set is different from that, I think.)
I was about 20-25 feet back for half of first set and then got into a great zone in front of Phil for the rest of the show, about 5-7 feet back from rail. I found the band in great spirits, playing very well (a few meandering spots) and with plenty of spunk.
I am not at all a Bobby basher, but based on his tired, head-hanging performance last time I saw Furthur at the Beacon (which led me to skip summer shows), I think Jackie Greene provided the missing spark. I love Bob Weir, but if he's not into it or is drinking again (apparently he was at some point).....
Wake of the flood was a great album when it came out, and the songs are still blockbusters. Corny or not, the group I was with really appreciated the band's appreciation of what everyone in the crowd has been going through. We had been w/out electricity for nine days, and the six inches of wet snow last night didn't help.
As far as a review, they were terrific, as always. Everyone was playing hard all night, and the sound was considerably different with Jackie instead of Bob. Less differentiation between the two guitars, and in fact Jackie took a bunch of the leads, with JK providing the rhythm. Half-step was a fun opener, and the crowd reacted appropriately to "Nail a retread to my feet and prayed for better weather." I had never seen Let Me Sing Your Blues Away in person, so that was a personal highlight. Others were Row Jimmy and an incredible Stella Blue, with great work by Jeff and then JK. Nice touch that Jackie was on the organ. The transition from Here Comes Sunshine to Eyes was really subtle, and surprisingly smooth since it's not a transition they play often. An atypical first set, that's for sure.
Second set was also great. Everything was spot on, and Unbroken Chain is a monster opus that keeps getting better and better. Help/Slikpknot/ Franklins was fun, particularly with Golden Road and The Other One thrown into the mix. Anybody else hear the Dark Star tease in TOO? I was fried by then, so maybe it was all a dream.
The venue is great, security was no hassle, crowd was very mellow and well behaved. I thought that Phil's bass was reverberating a little too much, making the sound a little muddled. All in all, a wonderful night. And just to top it off, the electricity was back on when we got home. Thanks, Phil.
I have Gen Admission tickets for Thurs (tonight). Is the whole building Gen Admin or are there reserved seats? Please respond if you can so I can plan my entrance:-)
Ken, floor is G.A.,there are reserved seats upstairs in loge and balcony levels..
I think there is GA Floor and GA Balcony
Floor GA / Loge & Balcony reserved on this run
Thanks all
Thanks Fred! Great review...really gave me a sense of the evening. See ya'll Sunday at Roseland.
I heard that Dark Star tease in The Other One very clearly
I see alot of people comparing furthur to P&F and I think they are just 2 different bands with 2 different styles. I see furthur playing grateful dead, creating new space but always showcasing the members around bobby (mainly) and phil (secondly)not really as collaborative (5 fingers on a hand approach)an effort as it sometimes could be. When I go to see Phil and Friends I expect t see phil in charge but every other amazing musician on stage is encouraged to take it to the mattresses. I think this is why i am so psyched to see how john sounds without having to sit back- maybe i won't notice any difference and i am completely wrong, lol. I am just enjoying it all- tomorrow in montclair and next saturday in port chester-- God Bless the grateful Dead y'all
!!!
Last night's bands was Furthur on steroids. Four young guys who pushed Phil to the edge. I loved it!
Stream was down for that amazing 2nd set. It looks so perfect! Is there any stream/recording of the show, the 2nd set? I'd purchase it, in a heartbeat!
Hi-Can anyone recommend a taper site? i was shut out in the CR&S thanks to the nor'easter.
That's a great The Other One. Worth hearing for certain.
