Greetings Phil Phreaks - Listening in to these shows from the back waters of Bangkok, Thailand. A heartfelt thank you to TaperRob who has enabled us - much appreciated, Rob! To all my phriends at the shows, share the love and I'll be in the chat for some morning maniac music. Have a phat one for me, Eddie!
Hey Adam, Live Stream is the real deal! Kickin' back in Bangkok and enjoying the sweet tunes...The Couch tour on Tour. Be sure to savor every bite of that amazing Bangkok home cookin! And thanks to Bret too, for hosting this great site.
Tippin' our caps to the Cap!!
Anybody know if there will be a Shakedown Street near the Capital Theater?
Maybe it'll be the 1st Shakedown ever in a commuter train station parking lot . . . altho I do remember a post show tank party on the station platform of the Buffalo light rail line post Phil @ Shea's Th. Funniest scene was when the trolley pulled up & doors opened - both the tank partiers and the normal folks on the trolley were equally suprised - and momentarily freaked - to see the other . . . .
Sideshow Bob - LOL !! That anecdote really made me laugh! What a great scene that must have been. Is the Capitol Theatre next to a train station? Maybe they'll get One More Whistle Stop or another Casey Jones or maybe even Tons Of Steel!
Hey Sideshow...Good to run in to you before and then at your seats during the Wellmont show!
Hey Adam: look forward to seeing you in the chat. I have'nt made it there in a while so it will be great to hang out with the furry freak brothers and sisters there!
Love Thailand!
More on the 'train theme' - we havn't had a Terrapin Station yet this run, I'm just sayin'...the full run through with At A Siding (my favorite part!)
The Capitol Theatre site has a nice map — Metro-North New Haven line Port Chester station is just a block away...

anyone know of a good place nearby for food and drink?
If you like barbeque, I would highly recommend Q. You can see the reviews on Yelp:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/q-authentic-barbeque-resta urant-and-bar-port-chester
Q has good food for sure.
Buffalo Wild Wings near the Metro North parking.
Bunch of Brazilian and Centro-americano steak house too.
Any word on the whereabouts of TaperRob, we can only hope he's in the house for the rest of this run. I bet these last couple nights will bring some serious jams! Gotta love couch tour, really "desk chair tour." Thanks Rob
Any updates on the scene would be appreciated: shakedown, bars, etc. trying to figure out if I should head down early on sat. or just hop on and off the train.
Thanks and have a good show!
If Taper Rob doesn't do a stream, the Zman will have one here.

In case u care.. here's a link that references the history of the legendary Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY... 18 Dead shows... 7 Phish shows... Zappa, Floyd, Derek and the Doms...

How many stages/venues does Phil play on in 2012 that he played on in 1970??
Song Selection = Freaking Jerryfest!
Holy Monster Second Sets!!! Yowza!
Last night's show was super high energy start to finish. The band was pedal to the metal all night long. It seemed like they were on one continuous thread, just passing through the songs, like scenery out the window of a high speed train. The electronic keyboards lent a very different sound from the always wonderful and much more melodic JC. There were many different highlights, one of which was Viola Lee, which seemed to contain strong hints of lots of other songs, like Goin Down the Road and China Cat. Can't wait for tonight.
Hope everyone had a blast! Here is my recording if you are interested:

Show was fantastic last night... so stoked for three more!
There a lot of good restaurants in Port Chester... Classic late night eats can be found at Hubba's, just down the road from The Cap...
I like a chili cheeseburger wedge with extra cheese, chili cheese fries, and a Hubba water : )
Here's some info:

Nice guitar work and very tight versions! Wish I was there. Haven't seen a show in 22 years, but without Jerry their still kickin' ass!!
As Phil acknowledged during the donor rap, it took them a while to get there last night. It wasn't smoking from the beginning.
Fun show last night. I was really impressed with the first set, with the highlight for me being the very sweet He’s Gone, featuring some tasty playing from JK in the break. And there was a fun West LA tease that led into it out of the Crazy Fingers jam. The Mason’s Children had some legs to it too.
The Dear Mr. Fantasy to open the second set featured what I thought was a fantastic solo from Jackie on the B-3. He really ripped into it well. Crisp transition into Help, and a few minutes of Slipknot (how did people not hear this?!?) before a big bomb to announced Viola. This was the highlight of the set for me. The first jam got NFA-ish and they kept the Bo Diddley beat going through the second verse. Very cool. And then the second jam went through several distinct themes before returning for the last verse, including a Bertha-tinged one. A cool version for sure.
What happened during Alligator though? It looked like there was some (read: a lot) of confusion about going back for the final verse. JK seemed ready to sing it, but Phil wasn’t watching him and just kept playing. It looked like everybody was waiting for Phil to get on board and things kind of came unhinged, Phil dropped his hands off the bass, and there was a stretch of intense seeming talk back and forth through the monitors. JK looked frustrated, but Russo kept things rolling in the background (Russo was a monster all night, actually. He was mixed loud and powerful). Still, it kind of hurt the vibe for me, but they recovered and finished the tune in businesslike fashion. My impression was that Phil started taking a really strong hand in setting the tempos, most evidently for UJB, where he went back to Russo after the first verse to get the feel he wanted.
I loved JK’s short solo fingerpicking intro to SOTM while Jackie switched over to the organ. And he sang the song sweetly. The crowd was mostly attentive here, more so than the Furthur crowd for the slow numbers. The chatting comes through on the tapes much more than it does in person, BTW. The closing Slip->Franklin’s was well done though, with some really energetic playing in Franklin’s.
Box was the tune I was most hoping to hear during this run, and I got it. Thanks, Phil! Not going tonight, but I’ll see you all Saturday.
Also, the place is stunning. There’s lots of detail on the trim of the walls, but all the open space makes for a great canvas for projections during the show. Space scenes, fractals, clouds, waving watery colors. Be sure to check the walls from time to time while you’re on the floor.
philphan et al... after rigorous debate, it has been decreed that YES they did play a Slip sandwich last nite and the song was in fact started after the Help... (and, uh, why was that such a trick question?)
The edict has been issued by taperrob and backed up with his photo of the stage Setlist... His comment is on the other show thread under "Other Stuff"... (maybe next year someone can explain why there are 2 separate threads here discussing the same stuph...??)
Thanks to setlist keepers phan, olson, jersey joe, TR et al... Stat geeks, please adjust your actuarial tables accordingly...

Don't care for that up-tempo Ship of Fools, but the Mason's smoked. I think Russo was toying with some Hendrix/Mitch Mitchell shit on the second half of Mason's. I cannot put my finger on the song, though.
