What a great Portchester run it has been! Thanks to Furthur for bringing the music and many many thanks to TaperRob for freeing the music and enabling the community. The gift of music is the sweetest gift of all! Looking forward to the summer run already!
It's either a big throw down night or a big hold out night. But strong playing is expected.
I was sooo off in my prediction last night but I'd say Help slip franklins again tonight. I saw it Friday. Tgey help slip in AC last time so I'd say scarlet Fire rocks AC but could end set 1 tonight.
Cheers folks- make it count and keep your eye on the prize!
Prolly another Unbroken tonight. Beautiful day in the northeast...gonna be fun!
You could all get a watch tower>china doll>nobodygirl>celebration>truckin'>no more do I>he's gone>viola>built to last>viola>around and around. Kidding. Sure it will be another hot show.
I love the last nite of a long run, usually a great show.
I think the a/c show will be more of a greatest hits, and definitely a franklins there.
Since i was at fridays show, hope not too many repeats. Would love a cumberland tonite, and maybe a viola sandwich.
Brokedown encore.

Tonight's going to put the Icing on the Capitol Cake ! pass me over a slice !

TAPER ROB ROCKS, ALL IN CAPITOLS!
Greetings for Tacoma Park
What's the big announcement gonna be?
Did Bobby get lost back stage or something? This has got to be some sort of record for tardiness
I may have been distracted, but I thought they didn't finish st stephen last night.
careful Andres, the other night I wondered aloud why they took an hour and 5 minute set break and all hell broke loose in here

hey jeff Lilienthal...please see the 23rd thread at the bottom where I apologized for being a jack ass...I actually intended to post that ridiculous rant on another site that was nothing but ripping personal attacks and got fed up...but unfortunately had a extra beer I shouldn't have and didn't pay attention to the site I typed it on. I am sorry about that

jerrimike - not a problem - thanks for being humble about it again (I did see your apology the other night). I'm sorry if my bringing it up again opened up any sore wounds, I didn't mean anything personal towards you, I was just making a statement that I found humorous.
Wow is there something w the Stream, or is Weir having TelePrompTer issues?
dude not at all...your comment was actually funny...I just felt terrible the next day and still feel embarrassed...and bobby may be more then a little tipsy right
its drink night for the boyz
Bobby's drinking again
Isn't this the song that Bob totally spaced out on last year when people were worried about him and the next night Phil said something like be careful of where you put your drink down?
I think the change in pace messed him up...stream sounds fantastic here.

wife and I were talkin earlier tonight about an El Paso, how sweet that would be!!
Thank god for John Jeff and Phil.....bobby is a mess
Minglewood Blues was a either a traditional song or a song written by Noah Lewis performed by Cannon's Jug Stompers circa 1928. Similar blues songs exist and it seems likely that the song was an arrangement of existing material.
Noah Lewis then wrote a different song, recorded as New Minglewood Blues, loosely based on the earlier Minglewood Blues. This song, which also incorporates material from earlier songs, was recorded by the Noah Lewis Jug Band circa 1930
Hey JRlilient, I was at the show at the Nokia when Bobby had his meltdown during El Paso. on has not been able to pull off El Paso ever since. Yeah, Phil leaned over to bobby at the Nokia and clearly said, "are you ok.?" And yes at the end of the show said something like, " be careful what you drink or something.. Have fun.

help...should there be a > after minglewood? cant remember
Great Mason's
Ol Jer used to have bad nights too. All part of the game...
Sounds like Bobby already hit the showers
John Phillips always claimed that he couldn't remember writing Me & My Uncle. The story behind the song is summarised in the liner notes of the Phillips 66 album.
John often used to tell the story behind "Me And My Uncle." Years ago he began receiving publishing royalties from a song on a Judy Collins record with which he was unfamiliar. It was titled "Me And My Uncle." He called Judy to let her know of the mistake because he hadn't written any such song. She laughed and told him that about a year before, in Arizona after one of her concerts, they had a 'Tequila' night back at the hotel with Stephen Stills, Neil Young and a few others. They were running a blank cassette and John proceeded to write "Me And My Uncle" on the spot. The next day, John woke up to the tequila sunrise with no recollection of the songwriting incident. Judy kept the cassette from that evening and then, without informing John, recorded the song for her own record. Over the years the song was recorded by several people, and eventually became a standard of the Grateful Dead. John used to joke that, little by little, with each royalty check, the memory of writing the song would come back to him.
I thought there should be the > after minglewood.
I thought that was an energetic well played set...dug it.
Weir's either sick or picked up Jerry's old habit's, because he sounded terrible!!
there comes a time when, we must drink some wine
I thought Bob sounded fine right up to the transition out of uncle, which was just a bit rocky.....then another NY cowboy moment. Can anyone at the show chime in? Howd that go down? Howz Bob look etc?

Ugly rumours that Bobby is stumbling around onstage - weebles wobble!
and hopefully don't fall down
Not a rumour. Friends at show texting me that Bobby is wasted drunk
I was gonna say standing on the moon next but maybe they don't wan't him to sing.
Apparently, they brought out a chair for him , but he refused and I was texted that Bobby fell. This no longer funny. I hope he is OK!
I left the show after the first set. Every song Bobby sang was a mess. I felt bad for him. I don't know if he was drunk or ill. The rest of the band was great, they had to work hard to follow Bob, who was all over the place. Oh well. Saw a great show on 4/20. These things happen. Hope Bob is OK.
ya...pics of people on stage actively looking out for him and coming on stage to help when needed
yep...if wasted definitely forgivable...im thinking wasted...if ill I would think they might do something...and the crowd cheers leave me wondering what?

you tube is gonna be chock full of this. I doubt this is as much fun as a frog in a glass of milk, huh Bobby? This is what will keep Phil at home and this band away from those of us who dont live in the Bay Area. It will also keep us from planning a vacation around Furthur if you cant lean on Bobby not to piss his pants on stage - I know that a double negative, because Bobby's act tonight in the last night of a great run is a double negative
even better joe...I should have said that
wow the quotes on the otherones.net forum are a bit tougher. If it was anything serious they wouldn't still be playing. Hell I've had many a night I would've needed help off my proverbial stage...I guess the difference is is no one ever paid to see me. I think it's a riot and I'm having another drink in his honor.
man, nobody knows exactly what is goin on with bobby, so everybody better lay back on the bullshit i'm seein on here. What are going to say spencer if he had a stroke or somethin and thats the end of all this. you're an ass man!!
they wouldnt be playin still and tryin to keep his drunk ass onstage in a chair if it was a stroke sherlock!
that pic of bobby reminds me when i used to nod out n burn holes in my clothes, hopefully he isnt doin what I was back in the day. get well bobby
yea man russell, I think you're right on that assessment. These guys are up there and they just laid down a nice 9 show run with only two days off. so ease up folks and cut the guy some slack
My prayers are with you Bobby.
fuck off dude, you're the antithesis of what this thing is all about! No shit sherlock I know thats not the problem, I'm just tryin to make a point about your whiny ass comments
phil said it was "provocative" and they encored Built to Last so maybe the guys the band are laughing it off
"There are times when you must fall" Bobby's built to last.
Actually Im pretty sure that idiots are the antithesis of what sits all about. Bobby took a shit on the show and everyone who paid $$ to see him at the end of an epic run run - admit it - why play the stroke card? go slap another "Weir Everywhere" bumper sticker on your 93 corrola you douche
of course they are, shit happens man. I was at many a show when Jerry was in the "Nod" and playin like shit. Never once bitched and moved on to the next always hoping he would pull through. It's all part of the "long strange trip"

I've gotta thank taperrob again because it felt like you were there with the crowd cheering and then this forum discussing the pic's etc and being able to hear Phil...an odd evening indeed but without the stream I would've been doing..well the same damn thing I do every other night of my life.
I take it you are a new yorker, using the word douche! I love the whole band equally and do not lay expectations on them. If you dont like it man, don't show up, we don't need your kind.
here here russell, my hats off to taperrob as well. you're a good brother!
Bobby looking forward to seeing you & the guys @ Bottle-rape!
Love goes out to all of you. Much Love to Taper Rob. And let's hope Bobby get's some rest. Peace!
I'm from NY and I use the word douche all the time, mainly towards my best friend Joe. Usually douche-head or something to that effect.
Anyways - I went to two cap shows and listened to Taper Rob's streams here and there and at times Bobby sounded great. I thought his guitar playing for the most part was very good although I didn't always agree with his tempo or the overly trebled twang and wished it could be adjusted.
Hope Bob is okay and for all the super-haters, just go see Phil and Friends, they are always solid
I was at show and knew before they began that bobby was in trouble. Hunched over tuning up. Thought he was pulling up until Uncle went south. Break didn't help. Very scary Love ya weir. Get bettter Get healthy.
I've been seein Furthur and Phil & Friends ever since their inception ~ both bands can be tight as hell and then they have their off-nights. It is what it is. I get sick of the Weir-haters. Those moaners and whiners will miss it when this ia all gone!
These guys (Bob and Phil) have lived their public and private lives with a lot of integrity and with respect for their fans - I think we owe them the same. Whatever it is this is the first time, he's human, give him a break.
bobby hit the bottle b4 the show
he had liquor liquor liquor in his head for sure
i don't know, maybe he has a problem
all i know its happened at shows before.
i don't know, maybe an intervention
an intervention before it becomes too late
i don't know, perhaps an intervention
take a rest then come back and be great
I'll take a shitty show over never having the opportunity to see them again ~ even if I pay to get in! Peace Bobby, take it EZ my man, and thx to the rest of the band for pulling it thru. Dead to the Core
well said joeqs! peace
hear hear to all the supporters...bobby matters... does seem like drinks and pain killers overdone...oops...more concerned about him being okay then anything else...love you all and peace out till saturday
Thanks Jester.
i heard jerry had a dark sense of humor. i wonder if it was this dark.
i am an oil painter.
i don't live in new york anymore.
i heard there were 5 or so big houses in nyc who sell the major works.
i bet wall street could bundle some piece of work together.
First and most importantly, Bobby, I love you. Please take care of yourself so you can heal.
For those of you who weren't at the show, it was really horrible. And I don't mean the music. Bobby was in trouble from the beginning. The band didn't come out until 8:30, so we suspected something was up. Good beginning, but then the Me and My Uncle was a total train wreck. Bobby was stumbling around, which is probably why they cut the first set short, after about 55 minutes. Good call to get off stage and regroup. They came back out quickly, only 35 minutes or so, but Bobby was no better. A crew member came out a couple of times to stabilize him, offering him a chair which he refused. I think they tried to get him off stage, but it it looked like he refused that, too. Then Bobby fell, and the band kept playin on. It was a somber moment. What to do? My heart went out to everyone up there. The crowd was respectful and tried to show its love with long, touching cheers. Surreal.
Despite perhaps the best set list ever, tonight was not a joyful show. I hope Bobby is okay, and the rest of the band is, too. Must have been awful for all concerned. And love will see you through.
Well said Fred. Was there and you're ability to put it into words was spot on.
welcome to rock n roll. you ain't seen nothing yet.
It may sound corny, but I truly cherish what these guys and their music (in all the various mutations) have meant in my life for the 35+ years I've been listening to them live. I consider myself privileged to have been there every night of The Cap run, and it will break my heart when I have to talk about seeing them live in the past tense. My hope would be that they do what they need to do to take care of themselves...
Agree with Fred. When Bobby walked on the stage, he nearly fell over. He was off kilter before the show started. Second set had no Bobby songs. I kept hoping that they would pull the plug. He was in serious trouble. The band kept playing after Bobby fell down. I went to the El Paso/NYC meltdown show in 2010 and tonight was much worse. Bobby was struggling to stand and played minimally. Everyone around me was asking each other what song the band was playing during the first few minutes of Me & My Uncle - which may be the song the GD played the most. He was having a hard time not falling from the chair that they forced him to sit in. He did not even notice that the band left the stage after Unbroken Chain.
Phil's explanation - from my POV - is the continuing denial in this band which is lined with ghosts. Don't BS us or the group. Bobby needs help. Stop enabling this behavior.
+++++++++++News story. I did not write this report +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
PORT CHESTER, N.Y. A belligerent and incoherent Bobby Weir lilted and collapsed onstage at about 11 p.m. Thursday night during a Furthur concert at the Capitol Theatre and was assisted off-stage by crew members.
Police told me he was taken away in an ambulance and the Furthur Website had no update on his medical condition as of nearly 1 a.m. Friday.
Weir, 65, is the longtime rhythm guitarist of The Grateful Dead and the band Furthur was playing its ninth sold-out show in 12 days.
Hope hes OK. I wish they would have pulled the breaks before it got to this point, one fan wrote on ThePhilZone.com, a fan Website.
At about 11:10 p.m., the lights went on inside the theatre and the show was briefly halted as crew members helped an incoherent Weir off-stage.
Some fans in the 4,000-seat arena left the building, but Phil Lesh, Weirs longtime Grateful Dead collaborator, opted to play on after a break.
I mean, Phil almost stopped playing when his buddy took a dive onstage and buddy gets carried out by the audience, another fan wrote on the site.
Lesh told the audience that Weir strained his shoulder in a workout and the band continued to play an encore set of Stella Blue, China Cat Sunflower and I Know You Rider without him.
At least one fan who left after Weir collapsed verbally lashed out in the front of the theatre that Lesh kept on playing despite the incident
Standing to the left of the stage during an opening set that began with with Feels Like a Stranger and included Eyes of The World, Uncle Johns Band and Scarlet Begonias, Weir could barely remember the words to several songs and was increasingly unable to stand up.
He nearly fell into the amps behind him at one point before tense crew members brought out a chair as the band played on. Weir kicked the chair and continued to play guitar standing up. He then lilted to his left and fell down, stunning the audience.
With the help of crew members, he was assisted up and sat in a red folding chair before nearly falling over several times.
Eventually, after Weir began to play something on the guitar by himself, the crew unplugged his guitar. Lesh and bandmate John Kadlicek walked off stage, leaving Weir alone before he was escorted off by the crew.
The band is scheduled to play Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Saturday.
Longtime Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia died in August 1995 of a heart attack.
bob has almost always been, but more so the last couple years, possible the best guitar player on the planet. these last 9 shows including thursday, bob and john are 1 or 2.
Thinking of healing thoughts your way "Ace".

is someone at the crossroads.
Prayers for Bobby. And for Furthur!

BUILT TO LAST!!!!!!
Well I was there last night and my thoughts go both ways- pissed about the lameness then accepting ofbitnas part of the effects of time. Had Jerry not died he would have fallen down for sure. I've been thinking- you play in a band so long and your gonna fall down eventually. But that said- I hope bob is okay. The set jammed it really did. I didn't notice any sloppiness until bob started saging over his guitar during Ujb.
I'll be in AC expecting a great show hopefully bob is ok. For what it's worth- everyone was hammered last night- I drank whiskey and don't normally...I felt like I was at my buddy's house watching a garage band and my friend fell down.
The whoe incident was extremely unprofessional and somewhere up there Jerry is cringing..."oh shit c,on Bob..."
Oh and I forgot to mention that the show ended on a really positive vibe with Jerry.s daughter Trixie coming on stage and announcing that the house bar would be called 'Garcia's. She said 'dad always loved it here and would be proud" it was a nice moment. Too bad bob got sick- it was a ceremonious occasion.
It's only rock n' roll.... but I like it!! Happens to the best of them! ....and the band keeps playing on..... Man I wish I was gonna be at the AC show to show my support for BOBBY!
Bobby was definitely struggling all night. And while more of a Jerry/Phil guy, I have no hate for Bobby at all. Having seen other nights @ the Cap, none of his playing was coherent and you could tell right from the open verses of Stranger that something was off with him. Definitely wish him well. Really could have been anything from PK's from the "shoulder injury" to just boozing. Trixie's "Garcia's" dedication was a very touching moment but Bobby's incident took a lot away from that. Again wish him well, hope he's out there strong in AC tomorrow. And what a run. Viva La Capitol Theater !
"possible the best guitar player on the planet."
I love Bob and it isn't hating to say that this is silly. You need to listen to a few more guitar players. Bob is unique and has a ton of talent, but he's not even in the top 100 of best guitar players in the world.
Even Rolling stone had Jerry at 46 in their top 100 last year. Bob is not even top 100 or even 200. Trey didn't even make top 100. But as far as Durham guitar- lots if lead guitarists would tell you bob is the man!!
Feel better bob we love ya!
B
unable to dance, i'll crawl
Just watch utube of bob last night!! We all wonder why some one didn't step up and save Jerry!!!!! Now is the time for some one close to step up and save Bobby!!!! Intervention is the only way, Thinking good thought here, help Bobby!!!
If some people think that anyone could replace Bobby as the rhythm guitarist, they are crazy. Furthur is who they are because bobby and phil are in the band, and Larry Campbell is s9omeones first choice!?! First of all whether it is his drug or alcohol intake, or a health problem, we should not just look for someone to replace him or whatever-- I hope he is well, and I look forward to seeing him live and back in fine form soon. Larry Campbell? He's a maestro but he hasnt got a fraction of bobby's magic!! GOD BLESS PHIL!!!
If one of my dear friends I knew my whole life passed away, and years down the road the opened a bar in his honor, you bet your ass I will be drinking at that that bar no matter what the circumstance. The dude is a trooper and I have nothing but respect for him, and the band for making the show go on. Ain't no time for hate, no one is perfect. This man has given us a lot in his life. And I appreciate him for that.
no replacing bob
he'll be alright
long live furthur
Nokia, this time and any other time this has happened with Bobby??
I love Bobby and wish him the best. That being said, this darkness got to give - no one wants to see what happened on that stage last night
Nokia, this time and any other time this has happened with Bobby??
Ratdog/San Diego, Might have been '06?
Not sure of bobs condition first set, but he did not come out after set break, or maybe they cut the 1st set short, then the band without bobby played the 2nd set. That's what should have happened after set break last nite. Bob was way worse 2nd set. At least at Nokia he partially recovered and was able to play 2nd set.
Sam L.
a world without nukes and social justice for the poor are intermixed. cannot have one without the other, imo. a vision for the future, plus a plan of action, plus resources to implement. out of chaos comes order. these things are serious and require priorities and proper order and action, again imo.
man made problems require man made solutions.
i was trying to bias a cathode bias amp the other day. i had a high voltage and a high current draw, resulting in an overly hot bias, which contrary to some, is not a good bias. i tried to solve this by biasing the amp safe, again this is not a good bias.
eventual i replaced the power transformer and was able to get a good bias.
if we substitute nukes for voltage and social justice for current draw, nuclear uneasiness and social injustice are high and this is causing a hot bias, which is not good. have not worked the whole thing out yet, but a good mix of science and art and philantropy from private american citizens who care about other people and our country is a good place to start to get other segments of population on board. getting the right snowball(vision) rolling can only lead to good things. am i naive- do i have a choice.
Naming a bar after Jerry doesn't feel appropriate, I never heard that he was much of a drinker.
He was an artist, they should have made an art display of young local artists. They could have made an art scholarship in his name.
They could have even used the profits from the bar to fund the scholarship.
Good luck and good health to ACE. I hope he takes off all of the time that he needs to get healthy. Meanwhile they can fill the Capitol by playing a GD bootleg again.
A lot of assumptions being made here about Bob. Me...I gots no clue. Being there or not...still wouldn't have any real clue. From what JK has been quoted saying, it was just one of those unfortunate nights. Doesn't appear to be any real reason to get overly dramatic (one way or the other) about it. "Move on. It'll be like it never happened."
*except maybe they owe some folks at least a partial refund
what time were the capitol shows supposed to start (what time was on the tickets) 7 or 7:30 ? I know they usually started around 8 - 815. AC ticket says 7 so I'm just trying to get an idea of when to head in.
OMG are you kidding me, a partial refund. This is rock n roll man not a bad meal at a restaurant! AND of course nobody wants to see what happened last night, that said ~ the darkness that has to give is the complaining, the assumptions, the finger-pointing, and the thoughts of replacing an essential figure in a band that has been providing us with musical journeys (good or bad) for over 45 yrs!! Give me a break man
Couldn't agree more. Everybody should just let last night go. Haven't we all had a bad night (with perhaps some bad judgment thrown in)? Fortunately for most of us, we don't perform in a fishbowl. Of the nine shows, we got eight wonderful evenings and one clunker. Partial refund? Give me a break. Personally, I am way ahead during this run and for the past 40+ years.
As far as start times, the Portchester shows were all called for 8:00 pm. Except for last night, the band took the stage by about 8:10 every night.
The Philzone moderators gotta shut these haters out. To be so disrespectful to someone who has shared so much for almost 50 years!! Go F yourselves and don't pollute the community
As for the rather cold and negative comments here, I cannot think of a better example of: 1) let he who is without sin, cast the first stone; and, 2) those in glass freaking houses.....
And that should be attitude towards *anyone* who has a night like that, much less someone to whom we owe more than we can possibly express.
i had my mind stretched a bit more than normal over the past couple weeks. i posted most of the previous posts completely out of my mind. i had a rest and a chance to chill out and feel more normal now. thank you for your understanding in this matter. ps. i only smoked a bit of weed out of a clogged bong and drank a couple beers to get a slight buzz. in other words, nothing else. just in case this matters.
fuck the mainstream rags. they print nothing but propaganda and bullshit.
while were at it. fuck the inbread sack of shit republicans who seem bent of fucking the country we call america.
fuck wall street.
fuck the piece of shit industry that sells our country off to foriegn countries.
please keep in mind i choose to use only peaceful methods to achieve my goals.
fuck the war machine.
"OMG are you kidding me, a partial refund"
nope, ain't kidding. just a consideration. nothing to get dramatic about.
sorry, it should have probably read real estate delelopers. actually, i think immigrants in america ought to be more integrated into society, gradually over years, probably.
Reund?!!?กก? FU - i have seen the Allman's where Greg didn't show up and a Jack White concert that lasted 40 minutes total. Phil and the band played 4 rockin' songs after Bob left and they were probably the best of the night. Refund - u probably didn't even go to the show
Pat - u are most likely a complete moron. Go take your 16 total posts to another message board
possibly.
btw, america has one president right now- obama.
we shall see.
its more of a 30 year plan of action.
a window of opportunity has presented itself.
the urgency is more to do with the start and implementation during a good window.
a good start is much preferred over a half measure or slow start.
nothing can be forced.
a lot of ground work has already been done.
i am just an artist trying to sell a picure, both figuratively and literally and keep myself slightly amused faced with serious issue going on currently.
another game has started with a new deal.
i've laid my cards on the table and i'm curious to see exactly what cards others may hold that i haven't seen yet.
i am an oil painter.
manet, van gogh, miro, picasso, rothko, pollock, warhol?, plus many others, that is kind of the lineage. i know just a little about art today, being an artist(almost by defintion) more concerned with my own shit.
as far as i'm concerned, life will go on no matter what. it's just a matter of how.
the simple life-the high life- the good life.

"nothing to get dramatic about"
you are a walking contradiction, moron!
Take a look at all of my posts in this thread. Point to the drama.
1) A lot of assumptions being made here about Bob.
2) *except maybe they owe some folks at least a partial refund
3) nope, ain't kidding. just a consideration. nothing to get dramatic about. [in reference to 2)]

this crazy situation is the reason why
i want to take a moment and complement president obama. the executive branch is the one branch of the govt. that seems to be functioning. he has really done a good job in a difficult/crazy period and i think its worth taking a moment to give president obama a warm thank you for the job he has done up to this point and will continue to do for america.
most of what i have written has been political speech as opposed to personal speech, so it should not be taken to personal.
i feel almost compelled to say something about pvt. manning. i have not really followed this story, but i did see about 30 minutes on a tv documentary a couple weeks ago. i think it is possible he did what he did as a matter of conscious and also a good chance he acted honorably so i feel he is not guilty of any crimes. if pvt. manning wants to and is ready to rejoin society, i think he should be released.
america's image has taken a hit for a reason. covering up misdeeds or incompetence or whatever by the govt. or army and going after manning the messenger is not the answer.
i may have to update flash, Player.
for some reason i like this farewell address by former prez.
search on internet for:
Eisenhower's Farewell Address to the Nation
January 17, 1961
sidenote not included in address: a possible mistake by eisenhower caused the cold war with russia to do down a colder path. it seems russian and us relations were thawing and some possible mistake by eisenhower in handling a situation ended the thawing and the rest is history as they say.
russia and the us are 2 different countries which is a good thing and both countries ought to respect and appreciate this. americans should focus on cleaning up our side of the street and not be dictating to another country.
current event-- july 2013
house passes approximate 600 billion dollar defense budget for 2013.
we want the defense budget cut in half to 300 billion.
we want the other half to be used for rebuilding american communities with things like housing, education, arts, jobs, research, etc.
this was part of the plan and it has been written in the book so it has been pretty much agreed upon.
tell the military industrial complex thanks for your service, but we are now going to do things differently. the top 15 countries in defense spending are all basically our allies and friendly nations and none of them are going to go to war with us anytime soon. these old ideas about defense are outdated and not suited for today or for younger people who have been taught about conflict resolution. all countries have larger issues besides defense. america ought to lead the way. america has friends and allies, we don't need to go it alone.
wake up, the terrorist basically won. america is basically bankrupt-19 trillion in debt and counting. there is no separation between our government and the stock market and major corporations. govt money supports the stock market. corporations buy the congressman and senators and judges and corrupt our system.
we need to work towards disconnecting all these unhealthy and "evil" connections.
our 3 branches of government should be separate from any connections.
most outside money/campaign contributions should be outlawed. most lobbying should end.
i predicated it would come down to this.
president obama will have to say no to the military industrial complex. this is what peace and justice looks like. we can't continue this insanity and now is the time to stand up.
president obama ought to announce his plans to shrink the defense budget to the american people and then tell the senators and congressman to eat shit and fuck off(or maybe there's a more statesman way of doing this).
president obama also ought to announce to the american people he thinks that some/most senators and congressman have been corrupted and are not working for america's best interest and he is calling on the FBI to investigate them for corruption. the FBI also ought to investigate corruption in state and local governments.
there's no reason people who lose there jobs in defense can't pick up another job with a new focus on doing some good or retooling and doing something else. this is america, things change.
cia is probably out of date. being secretive and spying is really out of date. cia ought to take a more hands off approach to foreign countries or work more honestly and in good faith when dealing with foreign countries. we ought not be spying and lying to our allies. we ought to be more forthright and work in good faith.
lets hop in the way back machine for a moment.
environmental consciousness has been around a long time. the idea that people (or corporations) should not be allowed to do whatever they want. this is actually a main role of govt-not allowing certain people(egomaniacs) or certain corporations(greedy bastards)to do whatever they want.
an environmental movement took off in the 70's and then around the late 80's was basically dismantled by the govt and the govt basically declared war on the environment and environmentalists and the govt did a lot of unwise things. global warming did not come out of nowhere. it happened due to govt. ignoring other opinions and warnings that have turned out now to be more closer to reality. for people who care about living well in this life or for people who care about living well in this life and the next life the choice is clear.

interpretations of recent events, real or imagined.
i think i know why congress and the senate do not listen to "we the people". when "we the people want some accountability from the govt. for the crimes committed by wall street or the banks or mortgage companies or oil companies or you name it. it turns out some of the congressman and senators are working for al qaeda. when al qaeda says jump, certain senators and congressman say how high. when al qaeda says jump throu.gh hoops, certain senators and congressman say yes sir. when al qaeda, who for months have been quiet say some threats, senators and congressman on cue try to frighten the american public, so the american public does not see the congressman and senators own incompetence and misdeeds. the people want postitive action from our govt. the people want peace and justice.
the people do not want a negative reactitive govt. the people do not want war and injustice.
the times they are a changing and it might be time for some of these senators and congressman to get out of the way. give peace a chance. cut the military budget in half.
actions speak louder than words. show the world are intentions are peaceful and we want to be helpful and work together with other nations on an equal basis.
america ought not blame russia for the whole snowden affair. this whole thing has been over blown. if america's justice system was swift and just there might be a reason to want snowden home, but since america's justice system is not swift and often not just, there is no rush to judgement, unless the govt. wants to drop the case against a whistleblower, so we can keep our russian allies on good terms, as ought to be. what i don't want to see is the americans using this to avoid the g20 summit in russia. i believe the international community has been following current events and the curtain that a non-functioning american govt. has been hiding behind has been lifted. the europeans are looking for american leadership on the economic corruption and social injustices and environmental concerns. i don't think the same old ways that aren't working are going to cut it anymore.
the terrorists have not won. the american govt. just has to cut off wall street and the corporations for a start. we cannot let exxon-mobil set the energy policy for america. america's wastes and uses too much oil and coal and energy in general. the oil companies don't pay enough in taxes. the oil companies aren't going anywhere, but they ought not set govt. policy.
middle east has to understand that america and isreal are not going anywhere. it is in the best interest of all parties for america and the middle east to work together toward peace and justice for all. america is one nation under god. even though a majority of americans are christians, we are not a christian country. we are one nation under god, and america respects all religions. countries that try to enforce one religion in this day and age, seems out of place. it is possible to respect the rights of others whose beliefs may be different. once american govt. gets back its ideals of peace and justice and one nation under god, we will all be better off, everyone.
**it turns out tank was caught cheating on the acid test. it also turns out tank still passed the acid test. it turns out you can cheat on an acid test, but any advantage does not count, but does not fail you, either. so congratulations.

tank 09: yes, i passed the acid test

tank 09: yes, that is my final answer.
