Let's get this party started!
the mann....saturday....wooohooooo
This is turning into one of the craziest summers I can think of for Phil!! First the Terrapin Crossroads family band shows, Furthur summer tour where the East Coast leg wraps up 7/20 2 PLF shows at the Capital 7/22 & 7/23, Penn's Peak 7/24 & GOTV & another festival. This isn't even counting all the Terrapin X-roads shows. Where is he getting this energy? I don't think I could keep this pace at my age & the guy's got 30 years on me!! But, he keeps playin, I'll keep goin. PHIL RULES!

Who is the promoter for this show?
I think the promoter is the source of all the tickets in Section 2 listed for $2000 to $6000...what a joke. They have 7 in row 5, 7 in row 7, 7 in row 10, 7 in row 15, 7 in row 20. Complete bullshit.
Same thing in Section 1 with listings between $1300 and $5400. 7 in row 5, 7 in row 7, 7 in row 10, 7 in row 15, 7 in row 20.
Anyone knows em, tell em to fuck off.
Yeah Eric. The ticket situation for any concert/event these days is completely out of control & the worst part about it is the promoters & of course Ticketbastard know full well that nothing will be done about it. You try to get tix through TM for any big event that sells out very quickly & conveniently Stub Hub has "Premium seating" in every section for insane prices. And some folks don't even realize that Stub Hub is a subsidiary of Ticketbastard. No coincidence then that it's almost impossible to get a decent seat (or in some cases any seat) for high profile events. IMO this is a violation of anti-trust laws at it's worst. No oversight of these greedy bastards. If I can't get a ticket for face price for any show, I simply won't go. It also happens to be the reason I was glad the 7/24 PLF show @ Penn's Peak is on a Wednesday. If it was a Saturday, it would have been impossible to get a tic.
the barclay center is notoriously bad for parking, anyone who can might be beneficial to take the subway ( right across the st from venue) ill be driving into Jersey City and taking the train from Manhatten to Brooklyn, see yall there!
11 on the 11th
XO
Barclay Center has been open less than a year, tough to be notorious for anything in that period of time.
But yes, parking sucks, it's NYC after all. You'd have to be a moron to drive given all the subways that stop right at the arena -- I mean right, at, it.
For those of you who have not been, it's very nice. Probably not the best venue for Further (too big) but it's a great place to see sports/shows, sight lines and sound have been excellent for everything I have seen there.
Jackass promoter has started cutting prices on those Section 1 & 2 tickets but not nearly enough, 98% more cutting to go! Fool has no idea about the crowd he is dealing with ;)
Barclay Center says No Audio Recording, anyone else have any more info?
have fun tonight and be safe!!! will see you saturday at the mann
Mhlsr....does it say it specifically on the ticket? This may be an arena policy where exceptions are made if the band has a policy allowing taping such as Furthur. If it doesn't say it on the ticket, it will probably be allowed. You might want to try calling Barclay & see what they have to say. Just a thought.
Hope the Barclay allows tapers and streamers! Have fun tonight people.
fyi....TicketBastard showing only upper level balcony seats for the Mahn. The Mahn centers own tix site has lower bowl available. Just snagged 2 in thrid row Orcherstra right.

where is that sick f**k with the chainsaw?
Phil sounds real strong in the mix. JK does a nice job with Straw.
How full is it there?
Jackstraw highlights the strengths of all members of the band!
The sum is greater than the individual parts. This is one of my favorites that further does. Awesome!
Strong Jack. Sounds nice and loud inside. Set Break.
Furthur on down the road...
Did Bobby do the extra verse in Bucket ala 4/20/13?
6 song 1st set?! LAZY.....Weak act.
Bobby and Phil are 65 and 73. Just be happy they're on tour and enjoy what they give us. Let's keep it positive.
I thought it was a good set. It was shorter than the average as far as songs but it was over an hour.
Where do they find this intermission music? It's so "intermission."
It has the classic country music structure
I wonder who chooses the intermission music.
Intermission longer than first set.
Here Comes Sunshine - Set 2

I'm sure I'm missing some >>> but I didn't get to tune in until GSET...If anyone can fill those in for me that would be great
I remember when this tune busted out. It always had a nice little jam but I never imagined it could turn into such a vehicle.
I think that is correct.
never ceases to amaze me when I check in with the other discussion board on this site when there are shows playing...philzoners who have 10,000 posts and every single comment without exception is how bad these guys suck...yet they have 10,000 posts...that's why we hang here because we accept it isn't 1972 anymore and people here on this board do too
Let it Grow...
Yeah, I guess who ever complains the most has the most fun over there.

I think they are age-ing gracefully as are we .I love 'em ,if they're so jaded they might as well get outta here , and take a long walk off a short....
I hope the first set drove the haters away and left us here to enjoy this nice second.
Casey Jones encore...

Gotta say not a sizzling show for me tonight but damn glad it was there to listen too. For those who rocked out I say rock on! night all
THANKS ROB!!!
Just got home from the show (10 minute walk - not bad!) & think the band did themselves justice tonite. Very strong - but short- 1st set, with an excellent run through CRS-FOTD-Jack Straw. I agree that these guys have played some great Jack Straws in the last couple of years and Jeff really brought up the energy.
The set break was super long - not sure what that was about. Kind of a drag when you've got a 12am curfew...
2nd set started strong with Sunshine but the transition to Ruben & Cherise seemed forced and while I was happy to hear it, the energy waned. Very glad to hear Mitch Ryder - I mean Bobby Weir kick things back in gear with Greatest Story and impressed that they simply ended it rather than attempted more noodling. From then on it was all good, and Phil got some audience love durin Uncle John's & Unbroken Chain.
Got my money's worth (presale tix) & am thinking about the Capitol if I can find a ticket that's not crazy $$.
Give Thanx.....i kno i do !! Sweet ...well done Boys !! psyched 4 Meadowbrook + !! Paz
How was that "We Love you"? they only played it once before, I believe. I have a sbd of it, and that version is pretty damn cool!
I DID notice the first set "six pack"!
Man, I thought the Barclays Center was a great venue, the show sounded great! right in the middle of Beautiful Brooklyn, would love to see another show here.
It was interesting to hear new arrangements on some of the classics, as far as I can tell Jack Straw had never been played with that sped up middle jam, and intro- the boys were definitly " searching for the sound" tonight.
nice show last night! Brooklyn on a hot summer night with dead tunes around- hell yeah! Many of you are cranky about the first set being short- remember, they were doing 6-7 song first sets back in 1984 through 1995. This should not be a surprise. They are jamming the tunes out in my opinion. I did feel hte second set started to slow and I felt the band sort of start to tire by the end of Wheel- but UBC was sick!. Very well played and this time Bobby didn't fall down while playing it, which was a plus.
In all It was certainly not the hottest performance set list wise, but it was a great venue with no lines, no security hassles, very nice staff, and it all made for a swell dance party. The meat and nuts of the show was from Cold rain through Uncle Johns...the band needed to get warmed up as did the crowd, then we all seemed to tire as well. The show did end at Midnight. They started at 8:12. Great sound great scene, great band...heart of gold band.
Most first sets in '84 had about 9 songs, even '92 was regularly eight songs. They didn't start the 5-6 song first sets (as a regular thing) until '94.
It always seems such as waste to me to have all that equipment set up (and all the effort it takes to do it) and then only play for 50-60 minutes. First sets should be 75 minutes minimum, give the people their due for what they paid and what they went through top get there.
Tom Thumb b no offense but you are not totally correct yet reflect popular misconception. . I can go on archive.org or my own personal 200gig collection and produce mountains of evidence. Even as early as 1979 they did short second sets see 11-6-79 for example with 5 songs in set two.
8 songs was indeed expected as a set minimum. Check out 10-18-89 in phillie with a 6 song first set- features a sick shakedown opener and birdsong closer. I can go to further just two years ago and yes you are right they did 8 songs. I agree it's short. But these guys are old. I saw Phish in SPAC last week- they did a 9 song and 7 song set.
Cheers!b
The we love you was great! Better then when they played it on that New Years show, fit the bands style, but, maybe not an encore ready song. Maybe a first set closer or show opener. IMO! Was there and loved the concert!
Great show, lots of fun. I think there were several nods to Bobby's ordeal, if you will. As others mentioned, "at least I am enjoying the ride!" And in Greateststory " finished the bottle and broke into mine!". I recall Bobby changing the lyrics a bit in an effort to speak his story. I forget what he said. he substituted some ad lib. Even "We can share the women we can share the wine" and friend of the devil lend themselves to some temptation, tragedy, or excess. Then in the second set we see a new beginning with Here Comes Sunshine and leave the past behind. the circle can never be broken as Unbroken Chain reminds us, but as we plant a new seed we "Let it Grow." Perhaps relapse comes at a price as we celebrate "the barley meal."
By the way, where's Tanko?? The Crazy, mad-blogging Tanko seems to have vacated the board.

I would like the set to last longer than the time it took for me to drive there.

I agree.

take what you can get, this ride wont last forever, if we get 6 song first sets than so be it, remember Bobby has had stamina issues lately, lets be mindful of that. this is a community, we cant just take, take, take. be Grateful for what you have. our band playing music at a VERY high level.
Avalon, shhhhhh, we don't want to wake Tanko again.......shhhh.....leave a sleeping dog lie.
third stone from the sun quote/jam near the end of the second set let it grow...
for sure
