Looking forward to a summer day on the big lake!!
Psyched that we scored seats inside. Looks like a nice venue from the website. How is the lawn there?
Gonna be a nice day. Hope the band brings it for our troubles to get there.
Security a little up tight inside but nice place
Nice venue. Slopey grass lawn, decent screens, sweet sounds! Camp scene looks cool? First camp thing at Mbrook I may have read. Will rage!
Live free or die...I'll take dead! Out the door to the happening. Have a wonderful day all.
Is it too early to pray for a stream ;)
I don't think so jack jack but lets keep it to prayer and not drive everybody to drink pounding our dead-heads against anything if there isn't one. My sense is there will be. Philly might be the tour dinger this time. I can't get past it personally.

I am out, someone please continue
I'll take it - where are you going?
Well up in the evening down in Mobile, Alabama
Working on the railroad with the steel driving hammer
Gotta make some money to buy some brand new shoes
Trying to find somebody to take away these blues
"She don't love me" hear them singing in the sun
Payday's coming and my work is all done
Later in the evening when the sun is sinking low
All day I been waiting for the whistle to blow
Sitting in a tepee built right on the tracks
Rolling them bones until the foreman comes back
Pick up you belongings boys and scatter about
We've got an off-schedule train comin two miles about
Everybody's trembling and running around
Picking up their money, tearing the tepee down
Foreman wants a penny about to go insane
Trying to get the workers out the way of the train
Engineer blowing the whistle loud and long
Can't stop the train, gotta let it roll on

I know dude lol...just quoting a popular bumper sticker from back in the day
Big sandwiches. It's a Bob setlist, but it looks good anyway. Not knocking Bob, just that I usually prefer Phil's crew's idea of a setlist.
its all good palmer! thanks for putting it up! someone I grew up with - now a world class session player, wrote some of their stuff with trey.
Hard to complain too much about a show that has the big three all in one. China-Rider...although I wish they didn't split those two up but after franklins was cool too...Scarlet-Fire...again wish they didn't split up but the sandwich was different...Help Slip Franks...good with Franklins being separated. Looks on paper a lot of dancing going on...much much less songs per set this run...and a fund needs to be started for Taperrob so he can be at all shows
No Farms
No Beer
Was the last great bumper stick I saw.
Darwin Loves You
Before that.
Pull for the Z-Man to send us a stream from BOSTON - are you out there, Z-Man?
*whip* *spank* Adam!
I hated Corrina...but heck I haven't heard one since 94 or 95...so wouldn't have minded too much...but back then...corrina or Picasso moon...oh God that was not good lol
So, Rider was the encore?
Eternity kinda grew on me...didn't dance to it but it made me listen after hearing it few times...here is a 2nd set nightmare...victim eternity corrina Picasso then a couple vince tunes
lmao, prefers corrina over picasso moon. also didn't appreciate the 'brent' boom very much, hey poopy way and so on. I'm of keith vintage and still miss it. sorry. lol.
It was indeed Brenty Brent.
that never happened did it Michael? lol, ugh!
loved hearing how much fun Bobby had with Gloria at Cooperstown.
no not that bad...at shoreline got treated to a never done before (according to dead almanac anyways) 2nd set Sampson...fire...eyes...box...terrapin.. and previous night opened with music sugaree music which had only been done once before at alpine valley...so we said damn lets go to Arizona...oops...Picasso lazy river victim samba in the rain second set...oops...although I do like lazy river road
duder!
Keith was a little before I jumped on the bus. my first shows were the warfield shows in february 1982 ...pretty cool place to get turned on...I appreciate all the different era's of the boys...a lot depends on mood...a lot depends on nostalgia from the sound and variations I got to hear...last show was at deer creek when everyone jumped the fence during desolation row and the next night was canceled...wish I could have seen early and mid seventies shows but also glad now im not old enough lol...some songs I like better from the early days others I like better the way they played them in their later days...just love them period...and eventually liked the jerry shows even better because all the touch of grey fans that saw the dead didn't go see jerry Garcia band

THIS SIX SONG 1ST SET THING IS BUNK!!!!! WTF? LET JOHN FUCKING JAM YOYO!!!!
Those 6 songs took 75 minutes. That's a bad thing?
Smokin' show!
Other than my 2 nephews getting cuffed by a van full of cops, and cited for having open containers in the parking lot, it was a fun time.
The show had some good moments, but it never really got fire too many times - Watchtower was probably the most energetic and alive song of the night.
The Rider encore was also good, but Wharf Rat was really flat - the middle section in 3/4 time was not tight at all.
Let's face it folks - we are just getting closer to the end of the road with every show.
I'm still going when I can, but the whole scene is the draw now more than the actual musical moments.
still waiting for phil to bust out wave to the wind. lol.
Watchtower had some slop but the second half came together kinda nice with some good interplay between them. Second half of second set definitely grooved a little nicer. Slip knot n throwing stones Jams took off a bit.
Enjoyed this show very much. Loved the interplay during the jams and a Scarlet opener-big fun! Bobby is making quite the comeback minus a couple of brain farts.
Unfortunately, there was lots of high drama in the lot on Shakedown Street. The heat seemed to have folks on edge after the show. More love needed and less conflict.
>>> Smokin' show! >>>
Last night? Really?
>>> Other than my 2 nephews getting cuffed by a van full of cops, and cited for having open containers in the parking lot, it was a fun time. >>>
Wow, that blows. When we parked I asked the parking attendant if it was ok to drink beers in the lot on our way inside and he said it's fine. That would have sucked to get popped by the popo for it after being told that. My past memories of Meadowbrook were no security and great scene out in the lot, super uptight security inside. It seemed completely the opposite last night.
>>> Watchtower was probably the most energetic and alive song of the night. >>>
That's funny, that's when I thought they were at their lowest, I thought Bobby forgot what tune it was a couple times and it seemed like it was going to just stop. And JK played no lead that I recall, unless he did a bit at the end, but I thought it was just horrendous. The Rider's the only time I thought they got any rock on.
>>> I'm still going when I can, but the whole scene is the draw now more than the actual musical moments >>>
That's the sad truth - the music was almost background noise much of the time last night, especially up on the lawn where there's nowhere near enough sound.
Had a good time last night...Scarlet Fire sandwich 1st set fun. Big boost hearing SB open show....loved Tom Thumbs......FOTM caught fire w intensity and jammage.
2nd set from Help on felt good......was very pleased to hear Wharf Rat as I love the tune and had not heard Furthur do it...........Rider encore sublime and played once again for so many who have gone on......
Bob was very very loud and did not use his "Dentist Drill" pedal too much.....enjoy hearing so well and prob had him cranked up cause he owns a beach up there........last thing......i have never ever seen them or any band so bugged"....john was picking his head most every song and phil and bob were swatting frequently too. weird but kinda funny
I would have liked it to have been louder up on the lawn too, minimal crowd reaction up there.Hopefully there just gettin' warmed up this past week and the music will take off a little more each show, interested as to what Boston will be like tonight.
Last Furthur show I saw before last night (11-4-11) civic center Maine, was extraordinary, had almost everything you could want in a show, great songs, energetic and creative playing, great vibes and response from the crowd. Fantastic first set, killer psychedelic second set. Needless to say last night came no where close to that, definitely some nice moments, but don't give up hope, they are still capable of creating great and powerful music and there will be more shows like 11-4-11 or 4-18-12...this music has always required a patient listener. If there is anyone who has not heard that 11-4-11 show (no show review on here for it surprisingly, just joined, havin' fun pokin around a bit)

Even those of you who don't care to DL post GD shows will not regret it..
BobO--so very wise.....patient listening indeed
This is a really difficult show to review.
1st set I thought was great, played well and tight. Loved the Scarlett opener and FOTM closer.
The 2nd set is where this show really turned south for me. And let me say this FIRST, I have seen all variations of our beloved boys, Grateful Dead, Other Ones, The Dead, RatDog and Furthur and I believe it all was, is and has been a gift to each and every one of us. What we have gotten since jerry has passed is more than any of us would have ever expected, so count me as a happy camper.
So back to the 2nd set. I found it odd we waited more than a solid hour for the set to begin to the point that the crowd got a little restless. Cannot recall that happening in a very very long time.
The set opener of China I thought was pretty cool which caused me to think that Rider would be our set closer prior to encore. Then Watchtower happened. I do not even know what that was.. started out OK, but fell apart several times and at times I became concerned for Bobby that he was not quite with it. The point where a crew memeber had to come out and assist getting his guitar strap snapped as he changed it during the tune caused me that concern.
Then when they went into Help on the way i became totally confused as if that were the goal of the 2nd set would they not have opened with that? Seemed odd to me we would get a China Rider and Help Slip Franklins in the same set. But hey go back to my comments about the gifts.
I think they pulled it together pretty well from that point on and the Wharf Rat was so so special.
So overall a good show, never is a bad show. But a concerning show to me as I had thoughts during that 2nd set that maybe we are in the final stages of our thing here and that concerned and saddened me a little. It cannot last forever and it has lasted far longer than I ever thought it would after Jerry but still feels like we are heading to a final stage.
This is what I love about this community. Different views, feelings and perspectives. All good, everybody gets something they like and then some get what they don't like. As my grandma used to say "Everybody to their own taste, as the old lady kissed the cows behind". That being said. I was worried after the first couple of songs. Yes it is alway fun to hear Scarlet, but maybe later after they get loosened up, but still fun. However, I thought they were a bit stiff and not really loose on this, and through the next two songs. Great to hear but...... Somewhere in "Tom Thumbs" things started to click (again I emphasize that this is my perspective. The sound and mix were better and this went on for the rest of the set. Now, for the second set; I thought was great. The transition from China Cat to Watchtower was wonderful and prior to this there were some great jams and teases. Yes "Watchtower" was a bit different, but that was on purpose, IMHO. Some nice jams, interplay and all that good stuff for the rest of the set....more maybe later.
Funny how we got Scarlet, Fire, China, Rider, & Help Slip Franks and people still find something to complain about. This was one of the better Furthur shows I've attended. 2nd set was dynamite. There were moments of Bobby slowing down songs and being haphazardly lost mid song but that is nothing new. Bobby has to be on some kind of med that is causing this. Anyways, a great show that I danced my pants off.
>>> Funny how we got Scarlet, Fire, China, Rider, & Help Slip Franks and people still find something to complain about. >>>
Those are all the songs they played well and are only about half the show. We also got a Big Bad Blues, Corinna, and an abortion of a Watchtower, and that dreadful mountain song that Phil spends 20 minutes moaning through incoherent verses before they go off on a decent jam.
Dupree you fool. I am not complaining I am concerned about Bob and his health. Obviously you cannot tell the difference. I would rather he stop touring, if he needs to, get his health in order if necesary, and I would be very happy to have TRI Studios and enjoy the occasional live streams from there from Bob for as long as he desires and is able to do so.
To sit there and write that the "2nd set was dynamite" I question if you really know what you are talking about and also question your credibility as a Deadhead. I will get blasted for this, but are you new to the scene? (Now I will be told about every show he or she has ever attended, starting in 1990, haha)
Somewhere in "Big Bad Blues" the energy did pick up a bit, but it was a bit clunky, agreed, and I do understand the differences in opinion about "Watchtower". They stretched it out in a different way, but I still liked it.......and as stated the transition into it was great. I liked "Corinna".....and even though we all knew that "Fire on the Mt" was probably next, the transition into that was smooth and a good sign for the second set. Phils singing on the "Mt Song" did make you squirm a bit but there were some nice jams that made up for it. I also liked how they went into "Throwing Stones" after "Help-Slip"........then again just my opinions.......we all have em.
Re-posting (edit) to here where I suppose it should be.....
Very solid show! Maybe not a mind-blowing show but certainly very good.
Set list is amazing...show had many highpoints. BEW > TTB was a real treat with JK ripping the BEW and Phil laying it down big time during TTB. Big Bad Blues seemed a bit arduous and Corrina, well, whatever... it actually got going a bit at the end during the jam.
FOTM top layer of sandwich bread brought the energy and vibe in the venue right up to the stratosphere. Love the 1st set sandwich! Hugely unique!
Fantastic, long set break gave us chance to meet with loads of phriends and run in to long lost phriends in a truly mellow, kind setting and atmosphere on a gorgeous summer night.
The China Cat was bizarro...or maybe it was me? Can't wait to hear it. Weir seemed a bit lost during points in the Watchtower (Need to listen to it cuz they certainly have played this tune in different ways, tempos, etc.,... but after that, this show was very good. I don't think they stopped once for the rest of the second set.... when it's all segways, it is cerrtainly a view in to how together the band is playing, feeling and listening!
Phil was in big smile mode! 9 rows back dead center gave us a perfect view with plenty of room for the gigdown. (Sound was surprisingly not great in this close, center location but got better and louder in the second set.
Scar > Fire 1st set sandwich!!! Whaaaat!! China Rider Second set Sandwich...withh a Mountain Song> Help> Slip> Throwing Stones> Wharf Rat> Franklins meat in the middle of the sandwich.... Are you kidding me??!!! Outta control set list. I know you can't tell what a show was like from the setlists but let's face it, this was a monster set list!
Mountain song jam was killer -- such a sweet song, TS excellent with Weir belting out and meaning the lyrics!! After Watchtower, everything was solid.
Band had a bigger than average hugfest after the show! Another telltale.
Oh, and, anyone else notice mucho Phil Bombs during the Franklins?!!
6 Hours of hanging and swimming in the lake pre-show with a big crew of friends made this a vey special, unique and memorable time!!
A couple notes... the Watchtower tempo switches were definitely intentional. You had to have seen the VERY slow (misguided but intentional) version of it in Port Chester to understand. Overall, it had some nice energy on Tuesday.
Mountain Song > Help was a big highlight. Mountain Song was fantastic to my ears.
Wharf Rat > Franklins was dynamite, too. As was the Rider encore.
If I was complaining about this show as much as so many here are, I'd really question whether you need a break from these, perhaps permanently. If this show didn't Float Your Boat, not sure if much will.
>>> If I was complaining about this show as much as so many here are, I'd really question whether you need a break from these, >>>
I went into it thinking this would likely be my last one, sort of planning on saying goodbye to Bobby, which was fitting as we got to go backstage and meet him after the show. I refrained from telling him this was likely my last Furthur show, mainly due to the fact that he's in the band. I think that was a good call.
>>> If this show didn't Float Your Boat, not sure if much will. >>>
Every show I've seen DSO or Phil and Friends play in the last 10+ years blew this completely away, so there's plenty of boat-floating out there, just not with this band.
>>>>To sit there and write that the "2nd set was dynamite" I question if you really know what you are talking about and also question your credibility as a Deadhead. I will get blasted for this, but are you new to the scene? (Now I will be told about every show he or she has ever attended, starting in 1990, haha)<<<<
WTF Jack.. I've seen 140+ grateful dead concerts and I still stand by my review. I just don't know what you expect to hear from this band. Bobby has been the weak link in this lineup from day one. I go to Furthur knowing and expecting this and yes it bothers me at times and I've seen some shit Furthur shows because of him. Yes I had a terrific buzz and was surrounded by good friends so lets just call it a difference in opinion.
I believe there are a lot of masochists on here. I firmly believe some people don't want to enjoy a show. They want to be the ones that say, it's just not the same. Like people did back in the day with the addition of every new keyboard player. I also believe a lot of these people are the ones TALKING throughout the entire show, then they wonder why they never connected with the music.
Dupree, a difference it is.. Fair enough.
I agree Amazingig. Just crazy how many folks talk and increase there volume to be heard over the band.
The guys behind us wouldn't stop talking....unless it was a song they liked. sheesh....prob never liked "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
Maybe they should add a "talkers" section to concerts, located in the parking lot...People spend a lot of money to stand around and yell conversations at each other. While others are straining to hear Stella Blue.
My friend had a t-shirt made up that says: "Is the music interfering with your conversation?" So right on point!
And don't forget texting, also.
Someone posted about the mellow scene. I beg to differ as I saw at least 20 folks busted by the gustapo, I mean the local police, and thrown in the proverbial "paddy wagon" in cuffs.
Overall, I liked the show and I was close enough to the stage to feel Phil's bass vibrating. It's not the Grateful Dead, but it's still fun after all these years.
I will add,yep Bobby's singing is stretched.....but I thought his guitar work this show was very good, especially from the last two songs through the second set.......weak link??? Take him out of the mix and see what is missing. And DSO better....come on, yes they do a supreme job of "copying" Grateful Dead shows, and that is the key word....they copy what was originated during the concert they choose to play...... I get from Further what I would expect from a 65 and 70 plus year old, who have the typical ups and downs. Lyric flubs.......they have been doing that since the very beginning.....and if Bobby or Phil have brain farts.....at their age and the number of songs they know.......give me a break.....
>>> Take him out of the mix and see what is missing >>>
Plodding tempos, meandering noodling "jams" and Shatnerized lyrics. I can live without those things.
>>> they copy what was originated during the concert they choose to play >>>
Sometimes they copy a setlist, sometimes they don't. But they sure as hell don't copy the music - they play it fresh and hard and loud every time they go out there.
>>> I get from Further what I would expect from a 65 and 70 plus year old >>>
I do too, but every time I see the older guy without the younger guy on stage, it's just so, so much better. It's ok, it is what it is. It's just a bit sad to watch it happening. It's sort of like watching Jerry fall apart except we can't blame it on heroin.
Bobby haters need to chill out, lay off him and enjoy the ride. He is making a good comeback since his fall. Perhaps dedicate your time to Phil and Friends shows?
I can't imagine anybody around here hates Bobby. Even those of us who may be critical of his playing - or lack thereof - and singing still love the man as much as you can love a rock star you've never met, and appreciate all the good times he's brought over the years.
Why do people always seem to equate criticism with hatred?
Here's what I was thinking of Bobby on Tuesday night - very cool to meet him!
Nice picture. Thanks for sharing!
nice poz
Western wind- if ya see this I think I can help you with your chat issues. Peace, brotha.
hey mandy thanks
i have a crappy old computer and probably need to update java....
what were you thinking i should do?
I have the updated java. You might too. I'm not techy, so bear with me. Type in java at the control panel. Open it. A box should open. Go to advanced. Check the 2 boxes that say not recommended/do not check. Not sure if you'll have the same prompts.... I panicked after a week of no chat and took the risk. It worked for me. Good luck. Hope to chat with you tonight ww!
Poz, great picture, thanks for sharing. I do appreciate your perspective, may not agree, but that is what makes the world go around. Take care.

I knew this was a good show when we were there but after just listening to the second set all the way through, this is clearly a blazing show. The band is totally synergistic, Weir is on his game -- no meltdowns in China Cat or Watchtower, just super unique Weir Rhythm Weirdness and perfectly nailed tempo and sound level changes --
Bzl, you said "the Watchtower tempo switches were definitely intentional." and you are absolutely correct!
JK playing about as dirty a sounds as I've heard him play, using the whah pedal too! Jeff, well, Jeff is just doing what he always does, blasting the B3 and shredding the ivories, but his Moog sound is very unique and very Brent-ish!
They never stop once during the second set and when that happens, it means the band is synergistically gelling big time!!!
Haven't listened to the first set yet but this show is right up there with second night Wang and Manchester, NH.
Killer show at a killer venue. Sure they had moments when it didn't synch up and the crowd seemed restless and uniterested at times but overall well played. I can't say enough good things about the venue. Very heady scene with the most old heads I have encountered in a long time. I loved it. I hope they do a 3 night run next year and expand the camping option. That way I won't have to go to Boston. I got a 6 mile hike up two 4000ers the next day still flying (actually reloaded at the trailhead)!!! Then headed down to Boston for the next two. Happy trails folks.

Great innovative Bobby on Throwing Stones and Rat.
