were you there alec? I felt it but couldn't hear it via the streams we had from saratoga springs. It is however on archive now. I'll listen and did comment that the playback will I think be blistering.
no i wasn't, i have been doing couch tour. the concert sounds great on archive.
Bones and Maffei have fun. All the rest of Algonquin deadheads too...Bundy!
you play huh alec?
I think it was '88ish at Hartford, back in the Monarch days. 'It's not my f-ing fault that you guys didn't specify different frequencies dammit! hahahaha!'
kid gave me a friend a VIP pass to a skybox there for two nights. During the set break our neighbors all turned on their TVs that hang from the trusses just above them for each box. Way too loud and distracting in my opinion. So I determind that our remote worked like all of them! Turn them off, turn the volume down or up, and even change it them to looney toons!
The neighbors finally stopped warring with us before set 2 began - had enormous laughs with all and 'had a ball' for the remainder of the show and next night

Interesting. last night, I watched an old, goofy horror flick called... "Alligator"!
Interesting. last night, I watched an old, goofy horror flick called... "Alligator"!
One of the better ones of the genre, I think Robert Forester stars in it & one of the 1st people to turn up dead in the sewer is named Ed Norton, so it has some black humor. The great director John Sayles wrote the screenplay, early 80's?
Correct, sir!
Ok, I was there, GDTS was kind to me and I was in the fourth row. Interestingly enough, with a few peeps that I've been sitting next to for years!!!
They did not disappoint... Dire Wolf, Eyes, Dew, very jammy Wheel... Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart!
It was sweet ❤
Is someone going to create a thread for tonight at Canandaigua pretty please with sugar on top? Thank you!
That Alligator bites hard! In a good way! Smokin' show so far. Congrats to those who were there.
The Looks Like Rain was in and of itself worth the price of admission at last night’s Furthur show at the Bank of America Pavilion on the Boston Harbor. It was a classic version, sharp, powerful, well played, with scintillating guitar work by John Kadlecik, beautiful piano work by Jeff Chimenti, and deep bass runs by Phil Lesh. But it was Bob Weir, who struggled so mightily just a couple of months ago at the Capitol Theater, who propelled the song. Bobby played crisply, his signature riffs filling in between Lesh and JK, and his singing was strong, clear, and most of all passionate. When the final crescendo finished and the song came to a close, the crowd exploded, so appreciative of Bobby’s effort and grateful for his good health and spirits. Clearly pleased with the song and response, Bobby turned back to the crowd briefly, held his guitar towards us, and bowed. It was part baseball player coming back out of the dugout to tip his cap, but also a way of saying ‘thanks for the opportunity.’
It was a highlight in a night of highlights, as Furthur made their way towards concluding this brief summer tour. The band was locked in last night, having a great time, everyone playing well, taking their turns leading the musical charges throughout the night. The first set six song pattern that has emerged on this tour held true, with the first set clocking in at just under an hour. A terrific version of El Paso complimented the Looks Like Rain, and the set concluded with a spectacular Dire Wolf > Big Railroad Blues to close. There was a long musical intro to Dire Wolf, probably a good 5 minutes or more, with Bobby conducting the band through various changes, and everyone laughing and having a great time. The song itself contained a smoking hot back and forth jam between Chimenti and JK that went on and on - check it out and you will be delighted. I have to say it is the best version of Dire Wolf I’ve heard in many a long moon.
The second set started out, as Bobby has been singing lately, on slightly ‘shaky ground.‘ Hard to Handle seems to be a difficult tune for the band to play tightly. This was a decent version, not great, and came close to falling apart towards the end until Bobby brought it all back with the classic opening riff. Then things got interesting. The Just a Little Light developed into a deep and hot jam, which melted into a superb Eyes of the World, phenomenal guitar work from JK and piano work from Jeff, with Phil ripping into the vocal with gusto. As the Eyes began to taper down, JK practically jumped in the air as he counted the band into an explosive Shakedown Street, with its refrain of ‘don’t tell me this town ain’t got no heart‘ clearly speaking to the mostly Boston based crowd. The run of Jerry songs continued with a beautiful version of the Wheel, one of Furthur’s consistently strongest songs, and then another great JK moment with a fabulous, moving, rocking version of Morning Dew. Eyes > Shakedown > Wheel > Morning Dew. Thank you to the setlist designer! What a great run of tunes!
The Midnight Hour that closed the show was fine, nothing special, but Bobby was still very focused, playing and singing extremely well. Phil gave his organ donor rap, and then as the band came back on Bobby and JK went up to Phil, said a few words, and Phil nodded in agreement. There was some kind of change for the encore. A surprising and fabulous Row Jimmy was the penultimate tune of the night, followed by a rocking and rollicking Touch of Grey.
Thanks to Furthur for a fabulous show. Lets hope the is a lot more music to come.
Great review thanks Sceezo
It is good to know this band can still pull it off on certain nights. The reviews from this summer tour seem mostly positive to me. I kick myself for not getting up to the Mann this summer to enjoy the ride.
thursday night was unforgettable ! thank you boys ! (and sunshine xoxo)
