Is Phil just getting better with age? No offense but he just hit some notes in Half step I would have a hard time with!
Love, love, love
man that wheel tonight was a mess, had a good laugh at how bad it was. and everyone on here is just loving it all?
actually cheese I was the only one to comment on the wheel and all I mentioned was the extended jam...I think youre looking for the

Thanks WW!....What a night, what a night!!!!!
so glad you & homey j got to go and i'm sure you had a blast!!!
First off, I knew TR was in the house bringing the stream as always, and felt good knowing that . He had a nice spot in the back corner of the taper section. The way I could spot him was the chat screen on his monitor. He was busy so I didn't stop. He was getting some attention from cuties later though....again, not a good time to stop.
What can I say. I've had a good run..starting with Spectrum 79, 83 Merriweather storm, .Friday 13th Hampton 84, Hershey 85, Merriweather 85, Telluride 87, Pitt and Roanoke same year, A couple of Red Rocks runs, Lunt Fontaine with Jerry, Merriweather with Jerry, 89 JFK....last night was among the best ever.
From jump street.
Loose Lucy should have been called Loose JK, he just streeeeeeeetched that bitch to the maximum. Off the Weir leash.
That tune was JK and Friends.... And you just knew this night was going to be special.
Random observations:
Just before they started the night, Phil seemed to be counting off and JK stopped him to set up his prompter/music stand. Smiles all around.
It was interesting to watch the interaction between JS and JK. JS was locked into JK most of the night. JK was definitely driving the bus, understandably, with his knowledge of the tunes. So much fun to see them communicating musically, and trading leads.
Phil's vocals on Miss 1/2 Step. were wonderful. Has that guy been taking vocal lessons from his kids, or what!.
First set Deal smoked liked a Phillip Morris Convention.
Thought I heard the Mountain Jam and was glad to see it confirmed on the set list. That was the last tune we heard from ABB on the ride in to Penns Peak, so I didn't know if I was imagining it.
My wife, Homey J used Roadies restaurant to pee and heard the Loose Lucy and HSF sound check. She pees and burps frequently. Both are endearing qualities. But not on long road trips.
Joe Russo is so good.... The perfect drummer for this combo.
Help Slip Frank was a journey. After the first slip, JK made everything collapse into a dark hole and I didn't know where it was going, and also thought JS and PL were a bit surprised (that's a blurry interpretation) but then they circled and brought it out strong into Franklins.
Donor Rap: Phil thanking crowd and Cody. And pointing out someone in the crowd. Maybe a guy who I saw with a kidney donor shirt on.
Encore: Not Fucking Fade Away. .......perfect........At the end crowd clapping as the band came to the front and clapped the coda with us. then took their bow. Hugs all around among the band. So sweet...........
We hung inside awhile and there seemed to be some activitity at the stage, I think to get the setlist....
One big takeaway.... as I sat in a chair exhaustified, waiting for Homey J to finish peeing, a guy, I"m guessing late 20s, caught my eye and we smiled together. No words. Both knowing .............. Everyone who has seen a show, I imagine, knows that feeling.
Parking lot scene was great, both pre- and post-show. Demographic = Baby Boooomers Nice Shakedown Street.
Good selection of food, drinks and merchandise. Only heard one post show tank area. Security was chill as always.
If I had criticisms, one was Medeski's playing in The Other One. Screechy repetitive. But I wish he was a little higher in the mix other times. (just read someone said a Doors, Ray M. comparison I'll have to consider that on furthur review, but in the moment, it lacked creativity to me)
The other was Phil's vocal treatment of TOO (He's so entitled to mix it up in a fashion that amuses him, but I've got those neural pathways that don't like road blocks)
Those complaints are so miniscule, it's like saying I didn't get enough chocolate jimmies on my triple scoop banana split with extra cherries and whipped cream.
WW- thanks for posting a link to show.
TS- sounds like you had a blast!
Peace brothers and sisters.
Man this show cooked! I got some great shots from the balcony, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to post pics on PZ. If anyone wants to check 'em out they're on my FB page Chuck Monk.
Terrapin_sedation, so great to read your review and know that you enjoyed what was arguably the greatest Phil & Phriends show of the decade! It was that good. The man and his companions can still bring it to the house. The Poconos is a great scene and what a night! As always, bless the tapers and streamers, Taper Rob has earned a lifetime achievement award for service to the community.
clutch are u out there
did anyone else hear the Love Supreme tease in loose lucy during the sick jam in the middle of the song ?
Definitely heard Love Supreme!!!!!
To quote Steely Dan "And all I could say was Ouch!" This one cooked folks. The jam between 1/2 Step & Dire Wolf was nothing short of SICK. The entire band was clicking on all cylinders all night long. And John Scofield is amazing. The way him & John K were feeding/riffing off one another was amazing. I almost hate to say it, but John K seems much more comfortable with this band than with Furthur. He was so much more out front & his licks were great. Maybe it was having another lead player that brings it out for him. Whatever it was, this was one amazing lineup. Made me wish I had taken the whole week off from work & caught the Capital shows. I didn't notice it during the show, but downloaded it & listened to it last night & the Love Supreme tease is definitely there. Great Stuff.
I've not seen John Scofield live - having said that - there is something missing about his playing. Not crazy about most jazz guitar players. They take it in a repetitive manner. They don't know that there's something over the rainbow. He is talented but to my ears brings little to the party though I enjoy his efforts.
present! - with sick little ones all over the place. on the mend however, but I missed this one on the TR sofa, darn it all! maybe we'll get another stream tonight from CT hmmm? email me if you like. moxie all good?
clutch,i sent u a e-mail to your yahoo deal.glad little ones doing better finally got to get stream to work, last 2 shows have been rockin.got my 30 day chip wed 6 years to 30 days.its a start

Thnx Jill. I don't know if you like Steely Dan, but I posted some pics I took of them in 2011 @ the Beacon Theatre in the other stuff folder under the Steely Dan tonight thread.
