Two in the loge available for this evening.
Face value.
i'm hoping for a cumberland tonight.....maybe a cosmic charlie.....hopefully a he's gone....
They teased us with a Cosmic Charlie before going into Sugaree last night. Keep your fingers crossed. Maybe tonight's the night.
Does the ticket say 8pm, I don't have one with me. Did they start on time last night??
They were teasing Sunshine of your love all night, and I heard a bunch of China Cat.
So what are the calls for tonight? I see...
Definitely a Keep on Growin' or Sunshine early, and probably both. Fantasy, Alligator, Strawberry Fields, Wheel -> Low spark v3 -> Wheel, definitely Eyes, and the all-important 2nd set closer will be Viola and/or Golden Road. I'd love to see Lovelight or Cumberland to close the first set, but I bet it's Cosmic.
If they break out anything new for the tour, it's Sittin', Till the Mornin Comes, or Leave me Outta this.
Mellow double-encore, with a new tune first, then something well known like Mystic or Soulshine.

Why six repeats from Sunday in Philly? Solid setlist, but wasn't there. (was at Philly, loved it). But seems like a lot of repeats 3 days after a show, also in very close geographic proximity, no?
Its not what he plays but how he plays it.
Yeah..I just hate when they play Low Spark, St Stephen, The Eleven, Other One and Stella Blue. Those songs suck. I wish they would play them less often. Oh yeah, the sky is freakin purple too...
More later, on both TUES & WED. Tues was an epochal marathon performance. Tonight I thought that the first set was somewhat lackluster (though "Low Spark" was phenomenal.) Really the whole set through "No More Do I" was sizzling, but then I felt the finish didn't sustain. I know I'm not making friends by saying so, but I can live without "Doin' That Rag." The second set was aces though, beautifully crafted and executed from start to finish.
My memory is zonked; did they SING the 11 or just play it?
full low spark
should be stephen > 11jam > stephen > millenium jam > 11
also jams/huge teases everywhere different stuff tha included elenor rigby and the wheel.
more layed back sounding than the usual PLQ crew, more deadlike maybe but not really.
great show, thanks phil & crew!
BT up by noon.
>>but I can live without "Doin' That Rag." The second set was aces though<<
were they crawling up and down your sleeve? :P
they were all over the place in some of these jams. like add kids or something. in a good way

thank you
Warren throws out Elenor Rigby riffs in just about every show. He had at least three that I recall on Tuesday alone. Also, as someone mentioned, the jam leading into Sugaree on Tuesday was a full-on Cosmic Charlie jam. Sugaree was a left turn that they took (although there are such obvious similarities in the two songs that this happened seemlessly). There were other major teases throughout Tuesday. There were quite a few Other One riffs that popped up and I am sure there are other song riffs to catch in there too if you listen through the show. I missed last night, so I will have to do without a China, St., 11, TOO, Rider fix (although with all the complaints here about repeats, sounds like no one is sure what might yet come back), but bring it on tonight and tomorrow. Who says there's nothing to look forward to anymore?
lots of repeats in just two shows since sunday philly.
Biggest China>Rider sandwich ever...
>>>Also, as someone mentioned, the jam leading into Sugaree on Tuesday was a full-on Cosmic Charlie jam.
That Jam/Tease is a repeat in itself. If you are looking for comparison on the repeat with the exception of Blue Sky, the balance of the repeats have been different executions, and better. Last night was amazing, without on major repeat of a song-transition-song. I haven't written anything about my notes, but I have a trivia question for Tuesday night.
For me, the show began to take off at Built To Last, and the second set was marvelous. Last evening just flowed with the coolest tempo vibe. Right there, between the spaces, no gaps, just notes. Perfect musical notes. My opinion a truly fine show, and on many levels on par with some of the ten greatest shows I have seen.
It feels to me like the NYC shows are meant to be different, packaged like the four in the Spring of '01, when so many shows were just the bomb. There is personalized merch, the number of repeats, but the much infused repeats...like a best of/live release thang. We shall see, but that is what its like, and if it isn't being filmed by something, someone, that is almost surprising. It's got the "raise the bar" feel shows at the Beacon always do. Where every shows feels better then the evening before, yet, upon reflection they are all just amazingly equal on setlist, execution, vocals, style(s). Who knows, but it's time to stop comparing them, it isn't fair to those that hadn't or cannot or couldn't be at more.
Who cares about the repeats? Wednesday's show was phenomenal, with the band showing tons of great energy and real interesting jamming, not just noodling for the sake of noodling.
At the end of the first set (with what I thought was a fine Doin' That Rag), the band didn't seem to want to leave the stage. I felt as if they felt they were riding high and didn't want the set to end. They carried the energy over to the second set. Fine show.
Can you spell Aoxomoxoa, Boys and Girls ???
Can you say Aoxomoxoa???
That's Right -- "12-3-03" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no complaints here
DeWitt said that for him Built was the start of the elevation of Tuesday night's show. For me it was simply a version that was not as exceptional as what had gone on before (especially the H2H>MC segment and especially since they followed a CJ that had all the energy of a real locomotive) and I felt the same way with Passenger. Those two songs, while fine in and of themselves, just lacked the exceptional qualities I thought were present in the rest of the evening (especially since I have heard better versions of both of them, but by not much though). To each his own. It is all good. Cannot wait for tonight. Come join me in seats 111/112 row AA (Grateful Dead Forever jacket, E-Mule T, and Yankees cap) and bring your dancin' shoes!
I think Dew found my words about last night. There was something about the flow from last night that made it special. Yes, I thought Tuesday was unreal, but there was something special about last night, too.
As I said to the guy behind me last night, "Don't EVER miss a Beacon show with this band." Seems to be their home turf or something.
Review? How did it compare to Tuesday?
>>>DeWitt said that for him Built was the start of the elevation of Tuesday night's show. For me it was simply a version that was not as exceptional as what had gone on before
I am a Jimmy fan and he ripped them...btw way, DeWitt is a city in upstate New York, and NOT my name.
>>>As I said to the guy behind me last night, "Don't EVER miss a Beacon show with this band." Seems to be their home turf or something.
Be careful, thems fighting words around here. I have to agree though. The vibe can appear to be perfect in Colorado, Philly can reach heights, as most certainly Boston, but in New York the cosmos insinuates inself into the musical collective. The Beacon is for sure their home. The most sold out shows, the most appearances at one venue, and as I have expressed previously, the Beacon is their home. They up and took it from the Allman Brothers one year, and, well. As many times as I am fortunate to see Warren at the Beacon, the magic, the sparklies, the vibe, the heartbeat, the soul, the effervescence of that house of great performances will belong to Phil Lesh and Friends. Always and forever for me, just like the goddamned Grateful Dead owned The Garden.
I hope this isn't just a run to have our mouths watering so we can bicker and fight for another year, until some tour is announced, if we are blessed with their generosity of another tour, that won't cover enough geography. Until then, thank god I still live up here, and that I can have the experiences that come with the commute to the Beacon, the view of the city from the circle on 495, or the down the river from the Bridge, and all of the incredible people I grew up with, and all of the super cool and valued buds I have met from around here in the Zone, and on the East. This is a cool band, and it produces the best music every created at times. This week seems to be "one" of these times.
Somewhere, someone mentioned a Mule gig at the Tabernacle...Mule OWNS the Tabernacle for me. I love that place; not the chairs, but hey, the rest of it is freaking kickass! It became one of my faves last November, and hopefully it will become "my Beacon". Won't have a bunch of Phil, but they get a very diverse group of performers, and after the last evolution of DTB and Modereko, there is so much awesome music, and hopefully I get more exposure.
Hey, Midy, did I really say I was so happy to hear a southern accent? I must be slipping .
I distinctly heard you say that Dew..
wouldn't say slipping,
more like culturally evoooooolving ;)
High points: Low spark, UJB, Patchwork>St.Stephen, TNK>TOO>Rider.
Low points: Another New York Knick loss, and just waiting to see who the evil empire(The Yankees)turns to the dark side next.
See ya tonite lil' children
Smokin show last night, Phil was on fire! so was everyone esle...the Other One into I Know You Rider !!!! sickness at the Beacon !!!
So, to those of you I upset yesterday by being overly critical of Tuesday's show now know why. Last night was the bomb!
Hey What's up Midy?!
you goin tonight?
"came from carolina, you know he'll be theeerreee"
To answer or help recall , Yes they sang "The
Eleven".
Seems the boys really "play to the audience", that "we make music together" thing is really Right On.
So, different crowds, different results. Warren just had such a grin...exploded in laughter at one point last night during a Jam.
These guy's are just soooooo good.
The Beacon was just so "mellow and relaxed". Felt like home, for sure. Enjoy the next coupla nights folks.
when I saw that they did the Eleven on the one night of the run that I couldn't make it out..I felt like I got kicked in the stomach
happy for those of y'all who got to enjoy the ~cosmic dixieland swirl~
>>>>Biggest China>Rider sandwich ever...>>>>
That was one tasty sandwich last night! Phil was pounding the bass non stop all night, that jam into the Other One was heavy. Stella goo !
I agree with most...the Beacon is a special place for many of our favorite groups. Wednesday night was excellent all around for Phil and the gang. Thought the first set was great...the Box of Rain was beautiful...Warren does a great job with Low Spark....and I could not have been happier with "Doin' that Rag." First time for me...enjoyed the rendition. Second set was very cool, tons of fun and I have yet to hear a St Stephen with that kind of monster energy. The beast was alive and well last night. I am partial to Blue Sky, loved the treatment of that song by the boyz, and the I know you Rider had everyone up and boogying in the smokey loge. Cheers to the random freak who kept opening the fire door permitting sweet NYC winter air in to the theater. Thought Stella Blue was a poor choice for an encore...after such a rockin' second set...but I have to be disappointed somewhere in the show. Great crowd, nice holiday vibe rippling thru the venue, and yet another fine night at the Beacon. How blessed we are!
i haven't seen phil and the boys since jones beach a few summers ago and have to say that lst night's show put a smile on my face andekpt it there until today. everything but the stella encore rocked my socks. it was a great vibe in the beacon last night.....people were really having a party in there (especially during the second set) and I'm just glad that I got to see it. The last Beacon show I saw with them was last year (i think), when they played with Bobby. Needless to say this one rocked a lot harder! And Jimmy is amazing. Warren's guitar might be turned up louder, but Jimmy shine s when he leads on guitar. Amazing time!
>>>I felt like I got kicked in the stomach

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?!?!?
blew my fuckin mind....COMPLETELY
woooooohooooooooooo
The other day they waited
The sky was dark and faded
Solemnly they stated
He has to die
You know he has to die
And all the children learning
From books that they were burning
Every leaf was turning
To watch him die
You know he has to die
The summer sun looked down on him
His mother could but frown on him
And all the others sound on him
But it doesn't seem to matter
And when the day had ended
With rainbow colours blended
His mind remained unbended
He had to die
You know he had to die
You know he had to die
Stella Blue Encore:
I thought this Stella Blue was very sweet, Warren reminded me of Jerry alot , they played it very well, but i did think they could of done something more rockin considering how rockin that set was. It looked like they were gonna play another song after Stella cause Phil kept his bass on and was gesturing Warren , i was certain they were gonna do another encore but Warren then took off his guitar and Phil was still gesturing him , but once Warren put his guitar down they all did. Warren was a bit tired i think but they played their hearts out last night, Phil was totally on fire man, that Stephen>jam Eleven Other One was sick !!!!!
>>>>st stephen>millenium jam>eleven>cryptical
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?!?!?
blew my fuckin mind....COMPLETELY >>>>>>>
That was the shit man! and the I know you Rider was so rockin! This band never ceases to amaze me!
The Beacon is such a nice loose venue, cool security as long as you dont fuck around they let you do what you want!!!
my 2 cents -- no bag check on Tuesday, then Wed real slow long check everything -- so long line outside, delays gettin in. show started well after 8, 8:20? ended after midnight. tho i really lost track o time.
love that -- "the biggest china-rider sandwich ever"
true :-)
Uncle John's was sweetly anthemic!
stephen classically aoxomoxic!
love that all the old songs are done so new.
if only the jerry dead could have felt this life again -- taken a year off and come back re-discovering their own expansive repertoire the way PLQ does.
well, of course, God bless the universe, and glad SOMEbody's doing it.
my first show Not dancing the dose-y-doe
since i don't know
when.
found the audience a little looganie and more male than my acid imaginings remember.
the Beacon is still The royal rock palace of antiquity on the East Coast, gold, spears, grand paintings, like the Fox in Detroit, people zooming in with digital camerass on antiquity's details -- sure glad it's still here and not down in the Village where NYf*ckinU is tearing down every old building (Fillmore, Palladium, Edgar Allen Poe's house, etc.)
feels like going to the tiny Fillmore circa 1970 -- 3,000 fans, a big family gathering after dinner in the smoking room night after night for this kinda familial magic thing.
truly, i was a little bored at first and didn't really turn on & tune in until the Uncle John's > Doin That Rag, which i just loved. what a funny crazy strange song that is. i saw Mr. Natural truckin down Haight Street and into Golden Gate Park! ;-)
but the whole stephen > eleven > cryptical > tomorrow > other > rider was just a Grate Ride!
anybody know if that John Scofield, Branford, Joan line-up ever did play anywhere? or any plan they will? or any other variation?
heard every instrument (tho was center floor, so ya better!) Molo is still my favorite jazz-rock drummer -- like only that Tim Campbell with the Mighty Manatees in PA. subtle little percussive coconut shells > thundering John Bonham locomotive steaming down the track.
anyway, great joy, grate vibe. read someone's comment about hardly going to shows since 95, but 'feeling it' again at PLQ. i almost take that for granted now, and thank her for reminding me. that we can go and hear these songs played this way in this tiny room with this many gentle-souled new yorkers . . . it warms up more than one chill this winter.
peace and winks down the aisle,
brian
>>>my 2 cents -- no bag check on Tuesday, then Wed real slow long check everything -- so long line outside, delays gettin in. show started well after 8, 8:20? ended after midnight. tho i really lost track o time.
I went in around 7:45 or so, walked right in, 3 second pat down. No lines whatsoever.
I guess it all depends on when you go in.
I like to get in early, scope out the scene and wander around abit
Hey, y'all. I'm thinking about training it down from New Haven. Are tickets readily available in the lot? THanks.
Dew I agree with you Jimmy is the MAN! He was smoking last night he played what seemed like all of UJB in 10 seconds before he had to slow down and play it with the band. It was Fin amazing to me. JMO. And one point I turned to my wife who never had a chance to see Jerry that this was one of the best shows I was at since the very early 70's I said to her Jimmy's a GRATE guitar player almost as good as Jerry and Warren is a better guitar player then Bobby ever was or will be so together they ROCK. And I always liked the one drummer Dead better then when Mickey came back they just always seemed tighter and yet rocked more to me. So with Molo n Phil providing the backup for these 2 YOUNG and upcoming guitar players this band is just AMAZING in my eyes.
>>next encore should have a BLUE in it

Bucky – sorry
I know it was just bitter I Won’t Be There Guy talking anyway
BUT THEY KEEP TOPPING THEMSELVES
I’m too tired and spun to accurately assess. But I decided it was worth a few moments before I collapse and try to do it again.
First – Every Show Is Unto Itself.
Repeats – whatever – don’t compare.
For instance let’s start with…the beginning.
Third China Cat START OF THE SHOW I’ve seen. Wouldn’t trade ONE. They each hearalded the start of a most triumphant victory….or at least how I saw it at the end.
I saw everyone tonight.
It was beauty.
OH I MEANT THE BAND.
But I saw a lot of Zoners too.
Next Day.
Some sleep. Barely. Yes, Kneeslappers, I sleep.
What a show to go all FAR OUT with
Right on with last night’s observation tho….wouldn’t trade a china cat for ANYTHING
“always think of Hunter all dosed out writing this”
I thought they would pull out the full Eleanor Rigby. The tease was a FULL ON LEAD IN.
The BOX.
Talk about the BOX. THE BEST!!!!! And Phil looking left and right comically as they all hit the “BOX OF RAIN WILL EASE THE PAIN”
After last night’s headspace it was perfect.
FULL LOW SPARK
Divine
Profit he’s made on yr dreams
(9 shows, three hotels, et al YOW!!!) hee hee
It was all I could do to not light the sparkler at this point. Had it been the end of the second set I would have.
NMDI I was out of the hall but was with friends so the song resonated – FULLY
“learn to trust the things I tell you”
Uncle John’s - THE ANTHEM
BEAUTY
Pure beauty
DOIN THAT RAG!!!!!!!! Fuck the repeats, this be the first since Cali. NICE TREAT ROB.
Full on harmony to close which is always so pristine.
Smokebreak. COLD.
Discuss the meaning of life with my seatmates. Very kind kids. Very kind to my poor brain.
AND THEN THE WHUUUUUUUUUUUBA DAH
Blue Sky. AMAZING.
And yet it pales in comparison to what followed.
Patchwork Quilt (AGAIN NOT A REPEAT, at least east coast)
And on the last line….
“You Managed to Keep Yourself --”
BUM BAH
STEPHEN INTRO
Whoooooooooooa
Cosmic freakout rollercoaster.
Millenium Jam is the Answer to the Answer
ELEVEN
CRYPTICAL
OTHER ONE (hits with a HUGE BOMB which floored me, or at least made me sit for a second)
Simply mammoth.
Rider. Can’t believe it could be over. It feels…..early. Or maybe I was just lost in it.
Touching Stella.
I didn’t weep like in Philly….just….watched, stunned. At the end when Warren busted out the slide and Phil was LAYING IT DOWN….I could miss any AM Dew to just watch that madness ensue.
Top Three Show Material.
The Beacon latticework grew like a plant and by the end Warren and Jimmy were shooting purple sparks out of their guitars.
More tonight.
Gee whilikers.

yo dawg...right here
Solid show last night ... this four day run is taking years off my life and I love it!
A little more of a pat down going in but we went in just before 8. Security inside has been VERY cool and the way it ought to be ... HUGE THANKS to the management for keeping this place a very special place to be ...
The opening jam set the tone for the night. Each of the band members went off into differnt directions, pulling and prodding the others to follow - almost seemed like they were competing with each other. Heard China a mile away.
Tough for me to comment on the lyrics for any song .. I almost wanted the words to get out the way so I could hear the music ...
Lots of teases coming out of China (wheel, rigby, etc.)
Box was a nice surprise. "such a long, long time to be gone, AND A SHORT TIME, TO BE THERE" into another beautiful jam ...
Low Spark was the best I've heard. i thought they were going to "lose" the song between v2 and v3. The jam was heavy, deep and going everwhere only to come back around and close it out.
No more Do I ... admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of this song but it is certainly growing on me. It struck me that they are still trying to find the right groove, rather, they are developing who will drive this song ... Phil's in the lead, for now.
Jam into UJB was fast and raw. Not as heavy or trippy as early set jams but very tight and fluid.
Rag started with a bang but kind of slipped ... I wasn't liking Rob's vocals too much but the band came in to rescue the end nicely.
Love what the Q has done with Blue Sky. Solid opener.
Patchwork was good.
Then they turned Phil UP. Phil was a monster from the opening of Stephen til the end of the set. He wasn't just laying bombs, he was laying a serious groove and driving the show.
The 11 jam into Millenium was sweet and I agree with the post above, it was so pronounced and long that it should be included on the official set list, IMHO. That may be why one person asked if they sang it or just jammed it out ...
Anyway ... getting through Criptical the boys really sank into one fo the most incredibly diverse and heavy jams of the evening ... perhaps of the whole tour ... Phil was trying to steer them into the Other One as Jimmy was leading Rider, then ... Warren steers them into TNK which I thought was odd in placement but actually worked well.
Phinally, Phil bombs O1. Intense heavy jamming ... the Beacon is a special place we could call home for a long, long time.
The return of Jimmy ... what more can be said ... "I know you rider, gonna miss me when i'm gone!"
Given the length of Tuesday, I was sure they would close the set with Cosmic Chuck but I can't complain. Stella grounded the crowd like the band was saying hang tight til tomorrow.
It was nice to be able to catch the 12:17 back home.
HELL YEAH BER!
UJB CLAP
ANTHEM OF THE DEAD HEAD ORDER
>>>As if I could ever tell you
>>>As if I could even begin
Great review huckster, been waiting for it all morning (must have been a late night). I agree, repeats, shmeepeats, last nights show looks stunningly phenominal. Looks like they shook the Beacon/Cosmos to the the core.
See all your freaker tonight!!
Wasn't gonna post anything, but feel compelled...Very good show, much different than last night. Introspective. Maybe too introspective. This was the existential show: Phil showing us a darker side. Chock full of twists and turns but the main ideas that jumped out at me were of loss and death. Low Spark No More Do I Rag Patchwork Rider and Stella. Not a bunch of rockers, but great artists strive to capture both the happy side of life, and the despair. To me, and of course everyone's different, this show evoked sadness, still within the framework of inspired playing (these guys are so hot), and that's what great art does.
Definitely hints of Rider in the opening jam before they veered into China Cat. Warren's guitar register is lower in China Cat than Jerry's was, giving the tune a bit more edge. Plenty of teases after, but again I didn't write anything down so someone will have to help me. Box Of Rain was a surprise and in that spot it seemed especially "weighty." Then the greatest Low Spark in history. Shuddering and shivering throughout my body during the opening notes, I don't think I've ever felt music get in there any deeper. Loved it from the time I heard it at Asbury, but never heard it this good. You could say four verses because Warren repeated the "percentage you're paying" line...He took such great care with the singing. His inflections, just perfect. I love a great vocal, unlike some heads, and I love Winwood, Morrison, all those guys. Warren's right there. Oh, to have a soundboard tape of it...Instrumentally, it was really stretched out: after the second verse Warren brought it to total silence then launched into space jamming where I thought it was gone...only to work back into the last verse, Warren shouting "Sure as your sorrows, sure as your sorrows....into joys." Extraordinary.
It is a bittersweet song. About losing everthything, being devastated, then picking up the pieces and going on. No More Do I was pretty good, always one of my favorites of the new ones, but this time I focused more on the death images, though it's positive too. UJB was the usual tour-de-force, Jimmy came alive during this one (overall I thought it was a Warren night), and then Doing That Rag. I'm glad they brought it back and everything, but I dunno, it just seemed a little odd there.
Blue Sky was bright and happy as always. Patchwork Quilt struck me as a really sad tune. I admired it, and it certainly fit. Stephen got the crowd back up, always good, Phil nailed his vocal part and Jimmy ripped it...Then the teases: Cosmic Charley, of course, and Cumberland too. Cryptical came next and was beautiful, in that existential way, and then we got a bunch of ideas, teases, riffs, etc.-- I didn't know where they were going, it seemed they were looking for something and couldn't find it -- but you knew the Other One was coming...not before spinning in and out of TNK . It was trippy (whosever in charge of the lights is doing a fabulous job) and I bet people were blown away, as I was, though I gotta say, my favorite version remains Red Rocks 8/31/02.
The missing I Know You Rider was a great closing choice. "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone." Took a lot of balls to encore with Stella, but what else could they do? Just the pavement left. It was always Jerry's favorite. While Deadheads clamored away for Dew, he'd play Stella. Why? Because it's real. Achingly, hauntingly, painfully real. The only thing missing was Days Between. Sad and deep show. Well done boys.
.>>>>>that's ridiculous - what a setlist
I haven't read through, too busy.....
Mrs B & my girls are off to Disney & I just returned from dropping them off - Katie woke up with a 102 temp & had to go to the Dr's (no strep), can you beat that?
Anyhow, maybe later I'll read the reviews.....
My thought upon seeing the setlist....
How many people are bitching at all the repeats?
And QUICK repeats from Philly?
NOT ME.
Looks like I would've loved it.....
And, Stella's gone for FRiday.
As Fritz would write, WOOO HOOO!!!!!!
Very good show, much different than last night. Introspective. Maybe too introspective. This was the existential show:>>>>
I totally agree Georgie, last night show had alot of depth to it, it was deep and rockin at the same time, my favorite Phil show so far. They just played it all right the whole night, it had the right energy and the right timing. IMO
>>Yes, Kneeslappers, I sleep.
classic!
I can't even imagine what shape you'll be in by tomorrow, Huck; I am still feeling weak and need another night to recover (no show last night for me, but still not enough sleep), but I'll be letting it all out tomorrow night. load up on vodka, pasta and grease at carmine's and then down to beacon-land
see you all then
Thanks to the Wizard et al. for the incredible sound on 12/3. I was right behind the soundboard in the middle of the row, and the sound was rich, clear, full and definitely loud enough.
My vantage point also gave me the opportunity to enjoy the phenomenal light show by Candace. Great stuff.
Can someone convince my wife and kids that I really need to go on 12/5?
>>>>Thanks to the Wizard et al. for the incredible sound on 12/3.
As bad as the sound was in Fall 2001, it's been that good in this tour.
Phil firing that dude (Cutler?) was the right move.
Georgie, excellent review of Low Spark, my thoughts exactly.
Death last night, rebirth tonight - "wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world"-
tomorrrow ????
All three verses of Low Spark with a wicked jam thrown in between V2 and V3...tease jam of No More Do I back into a Low Spark Jam back into No More Do I.
Elenor Rigby riffs in opening Jam>>>China Cat.
>>but the whole stephen > eleven > cryptical > tomorrow > other > rider was just a Grate Ride!
>>Can you spell Aoxomoxoa, Boys and Girls ???
>>Can you say Aoxomoxoa???
>>That's Right -- "12-3-03" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The other day they waited
The sky was dark and faded
Solemnly they stated
He has to die
You know he has to die
And all the children learning
From books that they were burning
Every leaf was turning
To watch him die
You know he has to die
The summer sun looked down on him
His mother could but frown on him
And all the others sound on him
But it doesn't seem to matter
And when the day had ended
With rainbow colours blended
His mind remained unbended
He had to die
You know he had to die
You know he had to die
Re-write your set list. If you listen to Aoxomoxoa, you'll see that the above song is "The Other One" and that what everyone calls "The Other One" (because they only listen to SkullFuck) is actually Cryptical Envelopment...but that has been a pet peeve of mine for years.
>>just a quick thought
>>encore nite 1 - us BLUES

What can I say about last night's show? There was a very wierd aura in the air at the Beacon last night. I had some personal issues going into the show. I felt like the show totally reflected what was going on in my head. It was a great show, but I feel like Georgie hit the nail right on the head. I was really bummed out through most of the show. Not the band's fault. I had personal problems. I didn't really get back into it untill they busted out St. Stephen. When Phil came out and introduced the members of the band, and they all started shaking each others hands like they were getting introduced for the first time, he later said that the energy you bring in here with you is what you get out of it, I felt like that was directed at me. The Stella Blue encore just seemed to drive that point further. It was a really good show. there were parts where I felt like I was tripping and I didn't do anything but smoke. I had a much better time at Tuesday's show, and I felt the show was more consistent and higher energy than last night's show. Last night was strange. It felt like the crowd was disjointed and nobody could get the crowd's energy together and unified. It took the band a long time to come back out for the encore. It was strange. Wierd is the best way I can describe last night's show. The show was really great and the band hit some immense peaks, even surpassing the night before, but it wasn't consistent and it felt like there was something strange brewing. Great show. I liked last night better but that could have been due to my state of mind last night.
Paul.
I did a Beacon Run where I saw the first and last night.
I did a Beacon Run where I saw all but the CRAZZZZZY Dickie night. (oh and the benefit but that was a good thing)
anyway
learned my lessons
when Phil plays the Beacon
GO TO THE SHOW
when Jimmy hits the high notes
FLOW WITH THE ROLL
when Rob grace notes Heaven
GIVE ALL YOU CAN
When Molo makes Thunder
PAY TRIBUTE TO THE MAN
when Warren Haynes
grabs the mic
and strums on his guitar
if he is playing in New York
You know I won't be far
While I dont wish to compare
to THIS or THAT BAND
I just say this Phil shit is SO OUT OF HAND
epic.
enormous.
The Whackiest Shaboo Around.
If You Miss A Beacon Show
You Surely Are
UNSOUND
but not all of us can rage the cage and rocket every night
I know
dear Paul
You're diehard true
I speak not out of spite
SO FRIDAY THEN
we take the streets
and come into the fold
the church, the steeple
SEE ALL THE PEOPLE
YO PAUL DAWG
you gettin old?
GETTING?!?!?!?!
OUT OF WORK, CAN I GET A HELL YEA!
THE BOYS ARE GONNA BRING IT TONIGHT, I CAN FEEL IT!
I for one thought it was great to see Phil and the boys perform "Doing That Rag" last night; a true rarity, and done to a turn. Although the real hot spot of the night had to be that "St. Stephen" > "The Eleven" > "Cryptical..." I was boogying my pies off. And although I wasn't sitting in my usual beloved loge section, my seat in the lower balcony let me examine the ceiling and chandelier of the Beacon. What a truly beautiful theatre this is; a wonderful setting for great music!
>>YO PAUL DAWG you gettin old?
yeah, maybe, but that's not why I'm not going
TOO MUCH SHIT TO DO!
anyway, nice turn of the verse
and we will RAGE tomorrow
will you be in the bars, or upstairs?
Last nights show was great. My mind split in two during that cryptical. two down, two to go ...
>>two to go ...
brain cells?!
My mind split in two during that cryptical>>>>>

>>two to go ...
>>brain cells?!

I'm hearing Hey Jude.
Really enjoyed the show....
However, if they never play Tomorrow Never Knows and Stella Blue again, that would be okay in my book...
Yep...looks like I fall in to the Bucky category on Stella Blue....FOR AN ENCORE!?!? UGH
