So Lord Henry, do you think we'll get a CA Earthquake for an opener?

Saw the Dead do it once; only seems appropriate. However Ship of Fools might make more sense! ;-)

I'm scared of that Headlight, both options :)

Now I'm looking to get Phil to bust out the "Godfather" for the Earthquake. Drop some rather large bombs on the place and send us into the Philzone. This shouldnt be too hard to do, all I need is a pitchfork, Ned Lagin, and a wiley, "you just woke me up from the dead" Keith Moon.

What's the "Godfather"? Are you talking about the theme song to the movie? "Speak softly love"?
Joey Defrancesco does a killer version.

Greetings All from the valley of the Sun...er Sunshine....er Soulshine....er...moonshine..uhhh night of a thousand dark stars....damn I cant see give me just a liittle light....at least til the morning comes.

Yeah it was the Day Set and the Night Set last night and both were Blazing! Its gonna be a great summer.

Show was as great as the setlist, at least from my perspective, 2nd row ten feet right in front of Phil. My neck was tired from turning back and forth as Jimmy and Warren played "top this!" all night long. I couldnt see it, but there is a wire connected between those two guys brains, and the juice was flowin' last night.

Suffice it to say, no worries about the tour being an album promotion jukebox. Only two new songs..left me wanting more, but that second set...epic Phil Dark Star with Terrepin and Other One teases. Incredible jams on Unbroken chain and the end of Soulshine.

God , Im still too wasted to type, so more later.

Yeah!!! roadrunner yeah!!!!
I am so excited I could fly to the moon on a gossamer thread.

I have refused to listen to the new songs as I want to hear them all for the first time live.

I can’t wait. This is going to be the biggest travel summer yet. The first west coast trip for me in a summer tour. Plus Red Rocks. Plus Alpine Valley.

Lessthan firsts:

Greek, frost, GOTV, alpine valley,

Graterthan firsts:

Red rocks, GOTV, alpine valley

So excited they are putting that into regular rotation for this tour……

Live the life I love….love the life live….I’m a roadrunner, baby….

I was cheering RR too. I agree, this'll be a fun summer. Expect I'll be running into you along the way less than.

Glad the AZ folks got such a good show. Rock on!

Greetings from Mesa, AZ!
Finally made it to a library to post a review. I am still pretty sore from all the shaking last night!

I don't know where to begin or if any of my words can do last night's show justice, but I'll give it a shot. b-)

I wasn't wearing a watch, but it seemed like they walked out on stage right at 7:30. The house lights stayed on for a while and the place was only about half full when they started the opening jam. I had fourth row seats on Jimmy/Rob side, but they put some folding chairs in fromt of the stage so I was probably about eigth row. Close enough to see everything and for the band members to hear me!

"Here Comes Sunshine" was a great choice for the opener. A really nice jam out of HCS with a couple of bombs from Mr. Lesh and then right into "Roadrunner"! I was going absolutely bonkers at this point. I has a pretty good buzz and these guys were just on fire. "Roadrunner" was incredible and then another extended jam into Leave Me Out of This which was right on the money. I went up to the lobby to call in the set so far and got back just in time for an incredible "Soulshine". Jimmy and Warren were doing guitar battles throughout. This band is on fire right now and they know it. They had to stop after "Soulshine" so we could all catch our breath. No sooner had I caught my breath before they knocked the wind right out of me again with "Scarlet Begonis." Scarlet is one of my faves and the place was pretty hopping. I thought they might have gone into "Fire" but instead Warren belted out "Just a Little Light." A smoking end to a smoking set!

There was one set of mics on the floor level and another 5 or 6 on the mezzanine so copies of this show will circulate soon (I hope!). When they came out for the second set I yelled for Jimmy to sing (for Dewit) and he kind of smiled and shrugged. Rob said something into his mic, but I couldn't undetstand it. Maybe it will show up on the boots.

I still can't believe they opened up set two with "Til the Morning Comes!" No need for a jam, they just broke right into it and it was on fire! I had that song on my mind all day long and was just floored! Cool jam into "Unbroken Chain" and Jimmy's solo in the middle of UBC was amazing. Warren jammed a nice solo out of UBC and then while Warren was changing guitars, Jimmy ripped off another incredible solo before going in to "Night of a Thousand Stars." I went up to the lobby to call in the update, but the cell had fallen out of my pocket under my seat so I had to fight through the masses to get back to my seat and get the phone. People were dancing in the ailes and the ushers weren't doing anything to stop it which I thought was pretty cool. By the time I got back to my seat, 1000 Stars was ending and after the song Rob said "Well, thanks for having us!" Needless to say, the place went nuts.

The Quintet was now ready to take us to another level and "Mountains" was just awesome. I was really hoping "Dark Star" would follow but I didn't want to think about it too much because I was afraid I'd jinx it! Sure enough, DS-V1 followed the Mountains (someone wake Bucky up!)and it was a monster. Great jams throughout the DS and, because I wore a Beatles shirt, they broke into a monumental "I am the Walrus!" Rob was belting it out and us eggmen were loving it! Back into DS-V2 and some more sick jams before the swinging Rider to close the set. Thought they may have gone into the Other One, but it was just a tease and the Rider was really cool.

The "Mason's" encore was icing on the cake. Incredibly played and I was left wondering what I had done to deservre being at last night's show!

I've used a lot of words like amazing and incredible becasue it was all on fire. These guys are just going off and it is just a fun ride right now.

Gave out some shows last night and spread the word of the Philzone. A guy next to me was taking digital pictures and I gave hima show with my E-mail addy so maybe he'll E-mail me some of the pictures!

I'm glad I'm passing on the SoCal shows before Greek & Frost because I'll need all week to recover from last night!

Going to the Diamondback game tonight to see Schilling pitch and am off to Huntington Beach in the morning.

peace...

Wow..Rasta you hit the preverbial nail on the head! For their first visit to Phoenix, they really hit the ball outta the park!

I was gonna write a review but Rasta told it all..just like it was.

All I got to add is how responsive Warren was to the folks up front...shook hands with EVERYBODY on the right front of the stage after the first set and AGAIN after the second set.

Oh , and a short story. As the band was tuning up for the second set, Warren was riffing around with what I recognized as a familiar riff.
I shouted right at him "Classical Gas!"

Warren stopped what he was doing, looked up with a big grin and looked and pointed right at me, as if to say "You got it!"

Made my night!

Next stop...The Greek next weekend with RH and The Quintet! Can't wait!

Where do you think BOC got that riff from anyway?

Well, starting to sound like a broken record I know, but once again circumstances prevented us from using our tickets. Needless to say we were both bummed, because Ruby had really come through with some sweet seats. 2nd row Dead center; I did manage to send them to one of my best phriends who lives in Pheonix and he and someone I don't know used them for us and by all reports must have had one heck of a good time.

Jerry did confirm that they started at 7:30 and played about two hours then took a brief thirty minute break before coming back and playing another two hours. Story of my life, but I love him so glad he got to see, what looks like and by his account, a super show!
