OK, most of us have already read every single review entry for each WTF 2004 show so far.
Which show is the standout for you at this point?
(that you went to, heard the stream of, wished you were at, etc.)

Of the ones I was at:
6/19 at da rox was mystical and certainly my fave. Apart from the cosmic mist and fog, the performances were bilsteringly hot.
Set I's Alabama, Broken Arrow and, the amazing Operator and Hey Pockey Way bust-outs were my highlights.
Then set II schmoked with a huge Unbroken>Terrapin>Reuben & Cerise. Warren singing the latter was a beautiful thang.
My next fave was 6/16 with Alligator and After Midnight>Watchtower. JJ Cale's After Midnight was pretty good. I think Keep On Growin is lining up for leg TWO. Set II on 6/1 had an absolutely stunning Other One>Golden Road>LSD. Wheeeeew!!!

You guys doing LEG TWO are in for a real good time.

"...and a short time to be here."

Boise (best dead energy)
Gorge (best plq type jams)

different shows, different reasons they were good.

I also understand Marysville was a smoker.

Out of the shows in which I was in attendance in one form or another:

Best Overall Set: 6/23 San Diego Set One. ('Cept for Butcher Bobby on Loser, WTF?)

Best Overall show: 7/3 Gorge.

Best show that should have been but was weak due to a terribly chosen set list in a kick ass country fair venue: 7/2 St. Helens.

Now, if Bob would let go and stop scripting the unscriptable, the music might be less forced/awkward.

I saw 14/15. I have relistened to ever show but Boise and Utah (which I was not at).

1. Gorge 7-02-04
2. Chula Vista 6- 23-04
3. Red Rocks day 1 (6-15-04) Day 5 (6-20-04) TIE
4 Phx 6-22-04 and Bosie TIE
5. 6-12-04 and 6-27-04 Sac. TIE

Irvine had it's moments as well as Shoreline but both shows had better 1st sets than 2nd sets I think. Day 2 and day 3 of red rocks are hot but the playing does not stack up to the later west coast shows. Day 4 of rocks didn't do it for me. Dreamy setlist but the playing was a weak they droped alot of songs. I vote this as the worst played show 2004 so far. But the Touch of gray encore. They did get by (because sunday they Came Together. good playing) 7-02-04 portland setlist was an little weakside. Corrina breakout was fun. Help>SLIPKNOT!>FRANK Encore: UNBROKEN CHAIN! Good Shit
There is my rundown of 2004 westcoast.

Saw only Shoreline, Marysville, Portland and Gorge...but hands down Marysville was the best of the 4. Didn't make it to Boise unfortunately but I can't imagine that it was a better show. The five or six people I talked to who were at both seemed to agree that Marysville had (by far) the highest energy level and tightest playing. Post-space was ridiculous. Closer after closer after closer. Shoreline was weak, Portland was weak and the Gorge was good but not great. After Shoreline I had pretty much decided to skip out on Portland and the Gorge and head to High Sierra......Marysville made that plan seem foolish.

The second set at Phx absolutely smoked, especially the sequence from Madman > St. Stephen > Born Cross-Eyed > Like A Rolling Stone > Drumz/Space > He's Gone. But I only saw this show and Irvine, so caveat emptor.

I liked Sacto for music......
but there is nothing like the local crowd for (me)
to feel at home with this show.......shoreline even though I hate the place
( to far from Marin)..
The music probably wasn`t the fastest,the jammiest,the hottest...........but
it was HOME......
and most of the local heads that I saw were in full force......
and that is what has been it for me .......
not being in front....
not seeing the (((((( HEAVY ))))))) WAH WAH
that Warren brings
for me it`s about the whole circle
music
&
friends

but it`s the heads from the old to the new that I`ve seen threw the years of going to shows here on the west...
from Winterland,Lionshare,Berkeley,Greek,Frost, Golden Gate Park,Fairfax,Corte Madera,Mill Valley,San Rafeal, San Anselmo,Leguna Seca....ect ect.......
all my old friends that I`ve seen for 30 years or so.........
this was fun for me
because we were
Old and in the Way
:-O
