November 28, 2000 Without daring to delve into interpretation, let me share a few of the theories which Terence, if not fully subscribing to, had the temerity and foresight to drag back from the psychedelic realm for the purpose of discussing with other similarly interested parties. He wondered if the Philosophers Stone that prompted several deranged monkeys to wander down from the safety of the trees way back in pre-evolution Mesopotamia was really a magic mushroom, he theorized that the mushroom itself was a particular form or file type of Alien communication. He and his brother Dennis received some particularly strong communications in a trip to the Peruvian Rainforest from such fungal entelechies. One suggested that human language would have to evolve into a multidimensional rhythmic self-creating info-song in order for the next wave of human evolution to take place. One offered a complex fractal model of Time replacing our linear one. A model that claims that all events are merely precursive reflections of an infinitely dense state of novelty at the end of the timeline. It is this last event, scheduled on the Mayan calendar for December 21 2012, which is the namesake of the December benefit.

x In the late 90's, Terence took his brand of digital shamanism to previously unexplored mediums, performing to the tripped out accompaniment of several dance band type groups. Many young ravers became familiar with Terence after hearing a DJ spin in some McKenna Voice into the mix of fluorescent trance at an all night party. Lost at Last, a Hawaii band well known for their ecstatic, hypnotic shows, paired with McKenna in 1998 for a short west coast tour featuring Terence speaking elf sounds during deep Lost At Last grooves. Having experienced that in person, I can say that it was truly Otherworldly. Unfortunately, Terence was unable to fully explore these musical mediums as he fell ill with terminal cancer in late 1999 and was forced to limit his activities. Still, the seed of possibility that he planted with Lost At Last and other bands germinates, and the Countdown to 2012 event celebrates not only his life, but his multi-faceted legacy to the entire psychedelic art community. In the early 90's both Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh were quoted as being admirers of Terence's, Phil calling him the "Magellan of Mentats". You will not want to miss the first cross-pollination of the Grateful Dead and Lost At Last, as they together honor our departed Brother and Friend with a certain type of new language, one created by group mind and collective improvisation. Oh, yeah. And a couple of Phil Bombs. Whoa. "That sound you hear is history flowing over it's own edge" Evolve and Love, Your Rolling Rider
